HOMEWORK D Given Mon, February 11 th Due Tue, February 26 th Excerpts from Postcards From Pluto If you’ve ever read Postcards from Pluto: A Tour of the Solar System by Laureen Leedy, then you’ll be successful at this homework task. Don’t worry if you haven’t read it. To the left are three excerpts from the book. Pay close attention to the middle one. It’s a good example of what you’ll be doing. INSTRUCTIONS: 1) Get a sheet of light-colored card stock paper or construction paper (white, beige, or yellow). 2) Turn the sheet lengthways like an envelope. 3) Draw and illustrate a life-sized stamp on the upper right-hand corner of the sheet. 4) Just below the stamp, write the name of a sixth grade friend from our school and the address of the school too, but don’t mail it (of course). 5) Use a ruler to draw several lines but leave enough space for your illustration. 6) Choose one of the other planets in our solar system to write about and get info about it from a book or Internet source. 7) Pretend you just got back from a trip to another planet and you’re writing a postcard to a student in your class. 8) Include *the greeting, *introductory sentence, *at least 5 factual sentences about the planet you visited, and *the closing sentence. 9) Write your name and class at the bottom. 10)Draw a picture of the planet or something that you would have seen on the planet. NOTE: If you miss any of the instructions, then your grade will be lowered accordingly. Follow every instruction and submit your work on time as per the Late Policy.
