There are earbuds available in all price ranges and it gets difficult to select a particular ear- phone within the defined budget that offers best val- ue in terms of features, sound quality and battery life. Brands like Samsung, Nokia, Noise, Apple, Skullcandy, Sony have launched their true wire- less buds in the country. However, not all wireless earbuds are of the same quality. If you exercise due dili- gence when choosing a pair, you can probably avoid the worst models in the market and hopefully, wind up with something that’s worth pos- sessing. To make things easier, we have put togeth- er a few points that one should keep in mind before buying true wireless ear- phones. 1 Fit and comfort are important and having an earbud that sits comfortably in the bowl of the ear is essential. Make sure it doesn’t drop out the moment you start run- ning. Shape and size of buds are critical as there’s no wire to support them 2 The true wireless earbuds should be lightweight so that they do not hurt the ears during those long listening sessions. Weight matters: Should be lightweight 3 Look for size and design of ear tips while buying earphones, these go a long way in provid- ing comfort. Size and design of eartips 5 Do check the battery backup of the buds as it should stay in ears more than the charging case. Earbuds should offer minimum battery back-up of 3 hours 11 Noise cancella- tion is required as it helps min- imise the noise from the surroundings. Noise cancellation is an important feature 12 Companion app for the true-wire- less earphones comes with additional fea- tures like equaliser settings, gesture customisation, soft- ware updates, etc. Look for companion app 13 A built-in assis- tant in earphones adds to the func- tionality as it simplifies on how a user interacts with the smartphones to make calls, replying to a text or even look for weather updates. Having a built-in assistant adds value 7 Before buying a true wireless ear- phone do check whether it supports audio codecs like aptX, SBS or LDAC for better sound output. Look for audio format; it should support all common formats 8 True wireless earphones should sport easy- to-use controls like gestures or buttons for taking calls or switching between the tracks. Should offer easy-to-use controls 6 The charging case of the true wireless earphones should have enough juice to charge the buds at least three rounds of charge cycle. Look for earbuds whose charg- ing case also offers minimum 12 hours of back-up 4 Having several connectiv- ity options is crucial as it helps earphones connect with the device faster. There are a few earphones that also come with NFC for faster pairing. Look for connectivity options 9 Check whether the true- wireless ear- phones offer some sort of sweat or water-resist- ance as it keeps the earphones safe during a workout. 10 As true wire- less earphones rely on Bluetooth connectivity checking for the audio delay is important. Look for sweat and water- resistance Check for Bluetooth connectivity things you didn’t know you can do on GMAIL Increase the email recall time So what’s the use of this? It can be very useful in situations when you’ve sent a mail that you were in the process of drafting, or wasn’t really sure that you had to send, mis- takenly. Increasing the undo time up to 30 seconds gives you that some time to click on ‘Undo’ send and get the mail back inside your Inbox. This option can be seen in the ‘Set- tings’ tab inside Gmail. Mute unwanted mail chain conversations It often happens that someone tags you in a single mail and then sev- eral others start replying to ‘all’ and you’re buzzed every time a new mail arrives – even if it doesn’t have to do anything with you. In such cases, you can mute the mail conversation by selecting the mail chain and tapping on the three-dot icon on the above bar to ‘mute’ it. Now, you can schedule delivery of an email Compose a new email. Click the triangle next to the blue “send” button. This option can be found as a ‘lock’ icon at the bottom while composing a mail. Use Gmail even when there is no internet connectivity (offline) If you’re unaware, using Gmail offline is also a possibility now. Although, the actual work will be done only when the device gets internet connectivity. If the of- fline mode is switched on, you can at least access Gmail, com- pose emails and save them. This option can be found in Settings; Offline tab. Send pre-set replies In case you’re not willing to write the same response to sev- eral people who have emailed you, you can use canned re- sponses. Although you have to type that as well, it’s a one-time thing. To access it, navigate through Settings; Advanced; Canned Responses (templates). In the last few months, Google has added several new features to Gmail. You can now send emails that expire on their own after the time limit you have put, can set password for replies and do much more...
