1. Introduction

1.1 Welcome

Welcome to the Scia Engineer Installation Guide. Scia Engineer is a calculation program running under Windows XP/Vista/Windows 7 with a large range of application: from the check of simple frames to the advanced design of complex projects in steel, concrete, wood…

The program treats the calculation of 2D/3D frames, including the profile check and the connection check for steel constructions. Apart from frames, it is also possible to dimension plate structures, including advanced concrete calculations.

This manual describes the procedures for a correct installation of the application.

First read the second chapter. Here will be describ ed which chapter is needed for each installation type of Scia Engineer.

Those installation types are described in chapter three, four and five.

The text is concluded with the de-install procedure in chapter six.

1.2 System Requirements

To install Scia Engineer it is recommended that your system qualifies the following requirements:

1.2.1 Hardware

Processor Pentium IV - 3Ghz (Advised: CoreDuo2 3 Ghz and higher)

RAM 2 GB (Advised: > 4 GB)

Graphics Controller 256 MB, supporting OpenGL

Disk space for installation, projects and temporary files

5GB

Minimum resolution 1280 x 800

1.2.2 Software

Scia Engineer on Macintosh To run the Scia Engineer software on Mac OS X virtualization software has to be used. Parallels

Desktop 7 is recommended for this. When Parallels Desktop 7 is used, a Windows

operating system may be installed as a virtual machine and Windows applications are used

alongside Mac OS X applications. In this way, the user has 2 operating systems at the same

time.

Standalone protection

Windows 2003 server Windows XP 32/64 bit Vista 32/64 bit Windows 7 32/64 bit

It is advised to install the latest Service Pack for these Operating Systems except

SP3 for Windows XP.

Floating protection

A FlexNET service will run on: Windows XP 32 bit Windows Vista 32/64 bit Windows 2008 server 64 bit Windows 7 - 32/64 bit

It is advised to install the latest Service Pack for these Operating Systems except

SP3 for Windows XP.

Allplan Scia Engineer 2012 is compatible only with:

Allplan 2009.0 Allplan 2011.0

Allplan precast 2010.0

However one should first install Allplan and then Scia Engineer, otherwise the proper installation

for the Allplan patch won't be recognised.

Revit Scia Engineer 2012 is compatible only with Revit 2009 Revit 2010

Etabs Scia Engineer 2012 is compatible with Etabs 9.2

IFC Scia Engineer 2012 is compatible only with IFC version 2x3

SDNF Scia Engineer 2012 is compatible only with Version 2.0 and Version 3.0

Tekla Scia Engineer 2012 is compatible only with: Tekla version 15, 16, 17 and 18 – 32bit

On 32bit OS as well as on a 64bit OS.

2. Which chapter do you need for your installation?

In this manual 3 possible installation methods are described for the installation of Scia Engineer:

• LOCAL INSTALLATION, LOCAL PROTECTION (Chapter 3 )

In this case Scia Engineer will be installed on the client computer. Also the protection is installed locally on the same computer.

• LOCAL INSTALLATION, NETWORK PROTECTION (Chapter 4 )

In this case Scia Engineer will be installed on each client computer and the protection is installed on a network (server).

• SERVER - CLIENT INSTALLATION (Chapter 5 )

In this case Scia Engineer will be installed on a server and also the protection is installed on a network (server).

3. Local Installation, Local Protection

3.1 New Installation of the Sentinel Dongle Protection

When the protection is taken care of by a hardware lock, the following procedure needs to be followed:

3.1.1 Installation of the Sentinel Protection Installer

The Sentinel Protection Installer provides the communication between Scia Engineer and the Sentinel dongle

In the Installation & Software menu of the installation DVD choose the option Install Sentinel Driver . Follow the installation instructions on the screen.

The Sentinel Protection Installer can also be installed manually by executing the file X:\Tools\Sentinel\Sentinel Protection Installer 7.* .exe where X represents the dvd drive and * the version number.

� Note

When an older version of the Sentinel System Driver or the Sentinel Protection Installer has already been installed on the compute r, this older version must first be de-installed through the Control Panel before insta lling the new Sentinel Protection Installer .

3.1.2 Attaching the Sentinel Dongle

The Sentinel hardware locks are available for parallel and USB ports. Attach the dongle to a free port of the computer. For a parallel lock, it is advised to attach the lock when the computer is shut down.

3.1.3 Checking the Sentinel Dongle

To make sure the Sentinel Dongle has been installed correctly the Sentinel Advanced Medic can be used.

3.1.3.1 Installation of the Sentinel Advanced Medic

1. Using Windows Explorer go to X:\Tools\Sentinel\ where X represents the dvd drive.

2. Execute the file Sentinel Advanced Medic.exe and follow the instructions on the screen.

3.1.3.2 Checking the Sentinel Dongle

1. Execute the file Sam1.3.1.exe . The Sentinel Advanced Medic appears on the screen and click on Troubleshoot here:

2. In the upper right corner of the Sentinel Advanced Medic the version of the installed Sentinel Protection Server installation is shown.

3. In the middle part under Hint , the program indicates if it finds a dongle on the computer.

4. When the Sentinel Advanced Medic indicates that the Sentinel dongle has been found, then this means the dongle is attached correctly to a parallel or USB port and the Sentinel Protection Installer has been installed correctly.

3.2 Installation of Scia Engineer

1. Place the installation DVD of Scia Engineer in the DVD drive of the computer. The start screen appears automatically. Select a language for the main menu. The Main menu appears.

2. In the Installation & Software menu choose the option Install Scia Engineer

� Note

When the start screen doesn’t appear automatically, it is possible to manually start the installation using Windows Explorer. Execute th e file X:\Setup\DISK1\Setup.exe where X represents the DVD drive.

3. In the Choose Setup Type to Install menu choose the option Install Standalone

4. In the dialog box which appears, select the language for installation:

The language chosen for installation is also the default language that will be used for the help files of Scia Engineer.

5. The Welcome screen for installation appears. Press [Next] to continue.

6. In the dialog Customer Information the User Name and Company Name can be inputted. The Company Name will appear automatically in the document of Scia Engineer.

Press [Next] to continue.

7. In the dialog Choose Destination Location the folder where the files will be installed can be specified. By default the destination folder is created in Program Files. It is advised to use this default location.

8. In the dialog Setup Type the preferred setup can be chosen.

� Note

When choosing a Typical installation, NOT all langu age modules will be installed, only the English language and the language chosen f or installation. If you wish to install other languages, it is needed to choose a C ustom install where multiple languages can be selected.

To be able to choose another language for the envir onment of Scia Engineer two requirements need to be met:

The preferred language needs to be installed

The necessary language module needs to be active in the dongle or on the server

If you want to install one of the Scia Engineer Plu g-ins, then you need to select the plug-in in the Custom installation. The following plug-ins are available: Tekla Struct ures plug-in, Revit Structure plug-in, CADS RC Link Designer, BS2000, Pipeline Wizard, Composite Beam, Composite Column, Arcelor Mittal-Cellular beams.

9. In the dialog Protection Defaults the default values for the protection settings can be set.

• Activate Only standalone .

• Activate the option activate licence when setup is finished . With this option the license file will be updated automatically if the dongle is attached to the computer.

• If you don’t have your dongle attached to the computer, just install the program and deactivate the option activate licence when setup is finished .


� Note

When using a dongle and a FlexNET network license, then the options ‘First standalone, then floating’, or ‘First floating, the n standalone’ can be chosen.

10. In the dialog Application Defaults the default values for the national code can be set.

Choose the default setting for your national code and measuring system. Press [Next] to continue.

11. The last window shows an overview of the selected settings. Press [Install] to start the installation process.

12. After installation, the message appears that Scia Engineer has been installed successfully. Press [Finish] to end the installation procedure.

� Note

If UAC (User Access Control) is enabled the followi ng message will appear at the end of the installation:

Choose “Install this driver software anyway” to end the installation.

� Attention

For using Scia Engineer, standard user rights suffi ce. Here, no Administrator rights are needed.

However, the user must have read/write permission f or the user folder of Scia Engineer:

Windows XP: C:\Documents and Settings\#USER#\ESA**

Windows Vista, Windows 7: C:\USERS\#USER#\ESA**

Where ** represents the version number and #USER# r epresents the user login name

3.3 Start Scia Engineer Double click on the Scia Engineer 2012.0 symbol to start the program.

3.3.1 Scia Engineer will start

When the protection has been updated successfully, Scia Engineer will start up and the installation is finished.

3.3.2 Scia Engineer will not start immediately

Otherwise the following screen will appear and the steps below have to be followed to update the protection:

1. Scia Engineer cannot start without a correct protection. Press [Setup] to run the

protection setup to update the protection.

2. The Protection setup will be displayed

Activate the option Only standalone and click on Import licence file .

The licence file will be downloaded automatically from the Scia Protection server and the following message will appear:

Press [OK] again to close this message.

� Note

Automatic import of LIC file from the Scia protecti on server is possible when the dongle is attached to the computer and when interne t connection is available.

Import of LIC file can be done only if the user has writing rights on the installation folder for the Licence file (see also note below).

It is possible to change the path to the folder whe re the licence file will be imported by right-mouse button clicking on the header of Pro tection setup dialogue:

And here the path to the folder containing the lice nce file can be adapted.

When using an edition and dynamic packet of Scia En gineer you will find next to the SCIAxx.lic-file also a SCIAxx.e2c-file. In this cas e you have to take care that both files are stored in the same folder when importing the li cense file. When you import the license file from the DVD the files will be automat ically in the same folder.

3. Once the licence file has been successfully imported, the user can see the list of his commercial modules in the “Expand” mode of the Protection setup.

4. Press [OK] again to close the Protection setup.

5. Normally Scia Engineer 2012.0 will start up automatically. If the program does not start, double click on the Scia Engineer 2012.0 symbol to start the program.

6. When the protection update succeeded Scia Engineer will start up and the

installation is finished.

3.3.3 Check for update

In Scia Engineer it is possible to check if an update is available, using Help -> Check for update in Scia Engineer.

It is possible to disable this option in the registry on the client’s computer: HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\SCIA\Esa\11\Admin\Settings\EnableUpdateMenu = 0

3.4 Upgrade of dongle

An update of the standalone protection means the replacement of the license file. This update is necessary

a) if a new version/patch of Scia Engineer will be installed

b) if the number of licenses for individual modules has changed

c) if new modules have been purchased

To update the licence file:

1. Open the protection setup (in Windows at “Start < All programs > Scia Engineer 2012.0 > Protection setup”)

2. Click on [Import licence file ] in the Protection setup dialogue.

3. Following message will appear after successful update of Licence file.

� Note

3.5 Use more dongles together It is possible to use as many dongles as can be attached to the computer together. The LockID numbers of all attached dongles are displayed in the protection setup dialogue:

In the list of available commercial modules is displayed the sum of modules from LIC files related to all attached dongles. Finally the sum of modules from LIC files related to all attached dongles can be used in Scia Engineer.

� Note

[Import licence file] can be done with more attache d dongles. It is possible to use more dongles with different time limitation. In cas e that some commercial module is in all LIC files, the one with longer time limitati on is taken into account.

4. Local Installation, Network Protection

This chapter describes the procedure to install a license server. Scia Engineer will be installed locally on the client pc, only the protection will be installed on the server.

The network protection can be installed on each computer in the network. This means that it does not have to be the domain or file server. Each of the authorised modules can have a different amount of licenses, which can be started simultaneously. Before Scia Engineer is started, the user can determine (in a separate protection setup utility) which modules he/she wishes to use in the session and which modules he/she wishes to remain available for the other users.

For Scia Engineer a FlexNET network dongle is used for the floating protection. This also means that the protection can simply be moved from one computer to another without needing a new license file.

The installation procedure consists of the following steps:

• Installation of the new FlexNET Network protection on the server for Scia Engineer 2012

• Installation of Scia Engineer on the client pc’s.

It is advised to install always the latest version of FlexNET. This can be found on the following site: http://www.scia-online.com/update/scia-engineer.php

4.1 Installation of SciaFlexNET

The installation procedure for the protection on the server consists of the following steps:

• Installation of FlexID

• Installation of the FlexNET network Protection

• Activation of licences

• Configuration and start of the FlexNet Server

4.1.1 Return the licence

When SciaFlexNET has been installed already on the server (or on another server), please first deactivate the licence.

If this is the first installation, you can skip this chapter and go directly to 4.1.2.

1. Execute the FlexNET Activation Utility . This can be found by default in: "C:\Program Files\SCIA\FlexNET\ActivationUtility\ActivationUtility.exe"

2. Select your license number and press [Return Licence]

3. The licence file will be deactivated. Click [Close]

4.1.2 Installation of the FlexID Installer on the server

To ensure the proper function of the FlexID dongle, the necessary driver needs to be installed.

In the Installation & Software menu of the installation dvd choose the option Floating protection and afterwards Install FlexID Driver . This driver can also be installed manually by executing the file X:\Tools\FlexNet\FlexidInstaller.exe where X represents the dvd drive

1. Follow the installation procedure on the screen. In the dialog box Select Features choose between the following:

- Parallel dongle: Flexid 8

- USB dongle: Flexid 9

2. After completing the installation, the server needs to be rebooted.

3. Attach the FlexID dongle to a free port of the server. For a parallel lock, it is advised to attach the lock when the server is shut down.

4.1.3 Installation of the FlexNET Network protection

1. In the Installation & Software menu of the installation dvd choose the option Floating protection and afterwards Install FlexNet . This driver can also be installed manually by executing the file X:\Tools\FlexNetSetup\Setup.exe where X represents the dvd drive

2. Install FlexNet by following the instructions on the screen.

3. By default FlexNet is installed in the folder C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Scia\LicenceServer\FlexnetServer .

4.1.4 Activation of licences

1. Attach the FlexID dongle to the server.

2. The Lock ID is stored in a .lid-file, which can be found on the dvd. In this file the authorization code used by FlexNET is stored.

In the Installation & Software menu of the installation dvd choose the option Floating protection and afterwards Run SCIA Activation Utility .

3. Execute the file ActivationUtility.exe

Press [Read Licence ID]

The Lock ID is stored in a SCIAx.lid-file, where x represents the number of your dongle. This number is indicated on the dongle as shown below:

The data in this file together with the presence of the dongle itself on the server will be converted to a .lic-file. This lic-file will be used by FlexNET to start Scia Engineer.

Choose the correct lid-file and press [Open]

4. The number of your license file will appear in the FlexNET activation utility window.

Select this number and press [Activate licence]

� Note

It is not possible to activate the license file usi ng remote desktop or using proxy server.

5. Afterwards you will receive a warning message about returning the licence before activating it on another server. Click on [OK] and the circle in front of the license number will become green and the license file has been activated.

Press [Close]

4.1.5 Configuration of the Server

From version 2010.0 the network protection uses FlexNET. In versions before 2010.0 (2009.0, 2008.1, Esa Prima Win, …) FlexLM has been used instead of FlexNET.

1. Make sure lmadmin.exe

5. First stop the server before adapting the settings

6. In the "General configuration" section it is necessary to have correct path to license file (Scia_Software.lic or *.DAT) and correct path for the vendor daemon (Scia.exe). Vendor daemon port is the port which is used for communication between scia.exe and lmadmin.exe. it is not used for communication between Scia Engineer and license server. Restart retries specifies whether the license server will be automatically started after restart of license server machine (also restart after sleep mode). Put here the value 1 to enable automatic restart of license server.

� Note

With the “SCIA_Software.lic” file, the users can wo rk with Scia Engineer 2010.1 and newer. But if the users prefer to work with older v ersions of Scia Engineer or with Esa Prima Win, the old dat-file should be copied to the folder of the “SCIA_Software.lic” file, by default: "C:\Program F iles (x86)\Common Files\Scia\LicenceServer\FlexnetServer\scia”

Afterwards the datfile should be adapted and the fi rst 2 rows should be changed into:

Change “MYSERVER” in the name of the server.

Don’t change the FLEXID number (this depends on the number of your dongle)

Remove the port number at the end of the first row

Change the second line into: VENDOR SCIA scia/scia

And refer to this datfile in lmadmin (instead of: “ scia\SCIA_Software.lic”)

� Note

The SCIA_Software.lic file has been generated when updating the license file with the FlexNET activation utility. Default this file will use TCP port 27000.

When the user wants to use another TCP port (e.g. 7 182), under Vendor D aemon

4.1.6 Checking the status of license server

The status of Scia License server can be checked on the "Dashboard" of the web based interface. It is possible to see alerts and warnings here and to see which licenses are available at the server. There are provided information about availability, expiration or current users (Hosts) for each module.

4.1.7 Server setup For servers with a windows version older than windows7 the used ports in FlexNET (default 27000) should be opened.

When using a Windows7 server, it is necessary to add exceptions in the Windows firewall for: lmgrd.exe, scia.exe en lmdmin.exe

4.1.8 Deactivating the license file

Deactivating of the license file is necessary when changing the dongle from one server to another. In this case it is necessary to deactivate the license file on the original server before activating this license on the new server. You can deactivate the license following the next steps:

When choosing a Typical installation, NOT all langu age modules will be installed, only the English language and the language chosen f or installation. If you wish to install other languages, it is needed to choose a C ustom install where multiple languages can be selected.

To be able to choose another language for the envir onment of Scia Engineer two requirements need to be met:

The preferred language needs to be installed

The necessary language module needs to be active in the dongle or on the server

If you want to install one of the Scia Engineer Plu g-ins, then you need to select the plug-in in the Custom installation. The following plug-ins are available: Tekla Struct ures plug-in, Revit Structure plug-in, CADS RC Link Designer, BS2000, Pipeline Wizard, Composite Beam, Composite Column, Arcelor Mittal-Cellular beams.

9. In the dialog Protection Defaults the default values for the protection settings can be set.

• Fill in the correct path to the License server :

4.3.1 Scia Engineer will start

When the protection update succeeded Scia Engineer will start up and the installation is finished.

4.3.2 Scia Engineer will not start immediately

In this case the following screen will appear and follow the steps below to update the protection:

1. Scia Engineer cannot start without a correct protection. Press [Setup] to run the

protection setup to update the protection.

2. The Protection setup will be displayed

Activate the option Only floating and fill in the correct path to the License server :

• E.g. 27000@SERVER

5. Server installation

This chapter describes the procedure to install Scia Engineer and the protection on a server.

The installation procedure consists of the following steps:

• Installation or update of the FlexNET Network protection on the server.

• Installation of Scia Engineer on the server.

• Installation of Scia Engineer type client on users pc’s.

It is advised to install always the latest version of FlexNET. This can be found on the following site: http://www.scia-online.com/update/scia-engineer.php

5.1 Installation of SciaFlexNET

The installation procedure for the protection on the server consists of the following steps:

• Installation of FlexID

• Installation of the FlexNET network Protection

• Activation of licences

• Configuration and start of the FlexNet Server

5.1.1 Return the licence

When SciaFlexNET has been installed already on the server (or on another server), please first deactivate the licence.

If this is the first installation, you can skip this chapter and go directly to 5.1.2.

1. Execute the FlexNET Activation Utility . This can be found by default in: "C:\Program Files\SCIA\FlexNET\ActivationUtility\ActivationUtility.exe"

2. Select your license number and press [Return Licence]

5.1.2 Installation of the FlexID Installer on the server

To ensure the proper function of the FlexID dongle, the necessary driver needs to be installed.

In the Installation & Software menu of the installation dvd choose the option Floating protection and afterwards Install FlexID Driver . This driver can also be installed manually by executing the file X:\Tools\FlexNet\FlexidInstaller.exe where X represents the dvd drive

4. Follow the installation procedure on the screen. In the dialog box Select Features choose between the following:

- Parallel dongle: Flexid 8

- USB dongle: Flexid 9

5. After completing the installation, the server needs to be rebooted.

6. Attach the FlexID dongle to a free port of the server. For a parallel lock, it is advised to attach the lock when the server is shut down.

5.1.3 Installation of the FlexNET Network protection

4. In the Installation & Software menu of the installation dvd choose the option Floating protection and afterwards Install FlexNet . This driver can also be installed manually by executing the file X:\Tools\FlexNetSetup\Setup.exe where X represents the dvd drive

5. Install FlexNet by following the instructions on the screen.

6. By default FlexNet is installed in the folder C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Scia\LicenceServer\FlexnetServer .

5.1.4 Activation of licences

6. Attach the FlexID dongle to the server.

7. The Lock ID is stored in a .lid-file, which can be found on the dvd. In this file the authorization code used by FlexNET is stored.

In the Installation & Software menu of the installation dvd choose the option Floating protection and afterwards Run SCIA Activation Utility .


Press [Read Licence ID]

The Lock ID is stored in a SCIAx.lid-file, where x represents the number of your dongle. This number is indicated on the dongle as shown below:

The data in this file together with the presence of the dongle itself on the server will be converted to a .lic-file. This lic-file will be used by FlexNET to start Scia Engineer.

From version 2010.0 the network protection uses FlexNET. In versions before 2010.0 (2009.0, 2008.1, Esa Prima Win, …) FlexLM has been used instead of FlexNET.

16. In the "General configuration" section it is necessary to have correct path to license file (Scia_Software.lic or *.DAT) and correct path for the vendor daemon (Scia.exe). Vendor daemon port is the port which is used for communication between scia.exe and lmadmin.exe. it is not used for communication between Scia Engineer and license server. Restart retries specifies whether the license server will be automatically started after restart of license server machine (also restart after sleep mode). Put here the value 1 to enable automatic restart of license server.

With the “SCIA_Software.lic” file, the users can wo rk with Scia Engineer 2010.1 and newer. 5.2 Network installation of Scia Engineer

This chapter describes the procedure to install Scia Engineer on the network. With this procedure Scia Engineer will be installed completely on the server. The application can then be started from every workstation.

1. Verify the operating system of the client pc’s.

2. On the server, create a folder which will contain the files of Scia Engineer for the network installation and copy the Disk1-folder (from the \Setup-folder of the installation dvd) to this. Share this folder on the network, for instance under the name “Scia”.

3. Install Scia Engineer on the server by browsing to the \\server\scia-folder and using the command :

SETUP.EXE /v"INSTALLATION=server" You will be asked to specify a target location, for example Z:\Program Files\Scia\Engineer 2012.0 Take note, during this step you will get 4 warning messages from the OS.

4. On the client computer, map the network drive Z (must be the same as the drive specified in the target location in the previous step) to the network shared folder created in 2.

5. Install Scia Engineer on the client by browsing to the Z:\Disk1-folder and using the command: SETUP.EXE /v"INSTALLATION=client" You will be asked to specify the network installation folder (from step 3).

Take note, for this step it is required to have at least Power-User rights! Take note, it is NOT possible to do a client install on the same computer as from which the server installation was done. Take note, the Scia Engineer Plug-ins are NOT installed.

6. Now, every user (without specific rights) can use Scia Engineer on this workstation. However, the mapped drive must be the same as the one specified in the target location during step 2.

5.3 Silent installation

A Silent installation on the client pc can be done by:

1. On the first client pc, run Setup.exe /L1033 /v”INSTALLATION=client” /r

2. Now a file Setup.iss has been created in the C:\WINDOWS folder of the first client pc. This file contains all the info for the silent installation. Copy this file Setup.iss to Z:\Disk1.

3. On all following client pc’s, run a silent installation by using the following command:

Setup.exe /L1033 /v”INSTALLATION=client” /s

5.4 Local folders

It is advised to locate the TEMP folder (where the temporary files are saved during calculation) locally on the workstation and not on the server. This can be specified in Scia Engineer through Setup > Options > Directories .

Also the Project folder, templates folder, userblocks, ... can be located on the workstation.

6. Uninstalling Scia Engineer

6.1 Uninstalling with Add/Remove Programs in Windows

Scia Engineer can be uninstalled like any other windows based software application:

1. Go to Add or Remove Programs through Start > Settings > Control Panel > Add or Remove Programs.

2. A list with installed software applications will appear. Select Scia Engineer and press [Change/Remove]

3. In the dialog box that appears choose the option Remove

4. Press [Next] to start the uninstall procedure.

After completing the uninstalling, some settings remain in the Registry of windows. These traces can be deleted manually. Deleting these entries can be necessary when problems occur with a new installation.

1. Open the Run dialog box through Start > Run

2. Type regedit and press [OK] Take note, for this step it is required to have at least Power-User rights!

3. The Registry Editor appears.

4. Go to the following key’s and delete them using the Delete button. HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\SCIA\ESA\* HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\SCIA\ESA\* Where * represents the version number.

5. Close the Registry Editor through File > Exit

After completing the uninstalling, some folders remain on your hard disk and can be deleted manually:

32 bits computer: C:\Program Files\SCIA\ESA**

64 bits computer: C:\Program Files (x86)\SCIA\Engineer**

Also the following folders remain on your hard disk and can be deleted:


C:\Documents and Settings\#USER#\My Documents\ESA**

These folders can be deleted using Windows Explorer . Please note that the first folder can contain projects so the user must be abs olutely sure if he/she wishes to delete these folders .

6.2 Uninstalling without Add/Remove Programs

Sometimes Scia Engineer cannot be uninstalled using “Add/Remove programs” of Windows. Sometimes this give an error message or Scia Engineer is not added to Add/Remove Programs. This way, it is not possible to uninstall the software.

This problem can occur with every Windows based program.

To easily uninstall Scia Engineer, use the following procedure:

Go to ‘Start’ -> ‘Run’

In the dialog that appears, type the following command:

msiexec /x {61DD9052-B7CC-45ED-A610-824D2C25B0C0}

This will execute the same procedures as uninstalling through Add/Remove Programs.
