ORIGIN OF SCIENCE

Derived from Latin ‘scientia’ meaning knowledge

‘Scientia’ from ‘Sankhya’ Darshan - Measurable Knowledge

Sankhya - Number

Saankhyiki - Statistics

Ved - Knowledge

SOME MORE TRAITS

Father of Scientific Rationalism

No individualism. Collective Wisdom

Unanimous Definitions

Process Oriented and NOT Result Oriented

VEDAS - A STEP BEYOND

Foundation of all knowledge(No binding to believe so. Simply follow scientific method and accept the truth)

Purpose behind enquiry

Meta-models for thinking

Generic Principles beyond measurable world

Variety of models

Intuitive food for thought

Emphasis on discovery and NOT spoon-feeding

Inclusion of Self and ways in which Self interacts with world

GAYATRI MANTRA

Dheemahi...Dhiyo Yo Nah PrachodayatWe think of the pure, flawless source that gave us power of thinking.

Fundamental Principle:More you channelize your output towards your source, more the efficiency.

In an ideal situation with complete channelization and no dissipation of energy elsewhere, you become a Perpetual Machine.

Also provides explanation why Mukti is not infinite. Because Perpetual Machines are impossible.

Yuvam: You both

Pedave: That causes rapid movement

Spridham: for military and noble purpose

Pritanaasu: destroying armies

Chakrityam: that causes continuous movement

Shwetam: with utmost speed

Puravaram: for multiple means of attaining success

Dushtaram: Which cannot be escaped

Charshaneesaham: which is robust

Sharyaih: which can be stopped and started again and again

Abhidyum: charged with electricity

Indramiv: Powerful and fast

Tarutaram: made of metal wire and to communicate

Duvyasthah: develop

MOTION OF PLANETSRIG VEDA 10.149.1

“The sun has tied Earth and other planets through attraction and moves them around itself as if a trainer moves newly trained horses around itself holding their reins.”

Savita = Sun

Yantraih = through reins

Prithiveem = Earth

Aramnaat = Ties

Dyaam Andahat = Other planets in sky as well

Atoorte = Unbreakable

Baddham = Holds

SOME MORE FROM VEDAS

Rig Veda 8.12.28 : “O Indra! by putting forth your mighty rays, which possess the qualities of gravitation and attraction- illumination and motion – keep up the entire universe in order through the Power of your attraction.”

Rig Veda 1.6.5, Rig Veda 8.12.30: “O God, You have created this Sun. You possess infinite power. You are upholding the sun and other spheres and render them steadfast by your power of attraction.

Yajur Veda 33.43: “The sun moves in its own orbit in space taking along with itself the mortal bodies like earth through force of attraction.”

Rig Veda 1.35.9: “The sun moves in its own orbit but holding earth and other heavenly bodies in a manner that they do not collide with each other through force of attraction.

Rig Veda 1.164.13: “Sun moves in its orbit which itself is moving. Earth and other bodies move around sun due to force of attraction, because sun is heavier than them.

Atharva Veda 4.11.1: “The sun has held the earth and other planets”

WHY WEST PROGRESSED

Simple, They followed Vedas

University system, documentation, peer-review, unbiased approach, standard definitions - all directly lifted from Vedas.

QUESTION: But they never studied Vedas.

ANSWER: Vedas are within each of us.

SOME MYTHS ON VEDIC SCIENCE

There was a Vedic period.

REALITY: All periods are Vedic periods

Once upon a time we had great advancements in science.

REALITY: There have always been ups and downs. So real wisdom demands breaking myth of Golden era.

Mahabharat era had very advanced technology for missiles etc.

REALITY: But they had very disgusting social technologies causing downfall of nation.

Today, we have lost the Vedic edge

REALITY: Today is the best possible model of Vedic world in documented history.

Vedas <=> Indian culture

REALITY: Vedas are for entire humanity, and not only India. Anyone seeking truth genuinely is Vedic.

METHODS OF VEDIC SCIENCE

Look for knowledge within and not through external translation of Mantras

Use Mantras to sharpen your mind, enhance thinking process and discover deep essence.

Know the purpose of enquiry. Know why you exist. Know your goal. And know how truth brings you closer to your goal.

21Agniveer http://agniveer.com

Page 22: Science in Vedas

CAUTIONS IN VEDIC SCIENCE

Do not try to deliberately twist mantras to suit modern scientific frameworks.

Example: Satva/ Raja/ Tama - Electron, Proton, Neutron

Example: Atom = Paramanu

Practical Science cannot be discovered without experiments

Be unbiased. Do not assume anything - even that Vedas are best. Let that be a conclusion.

Never fight on definitions. Analyze relationships between definitions.

22Agniveer http://agniveer.com

Page 23: Science in Vedas

DO NOT BE TOO SCIENTIFIC!

Know the purpose

Know that everything cannot be measurable by available methods

Know that final truth can be known only by omniscient

Know that Vedic physical world includes tangible world PLUS emotions PLUS all feelings. So seek more generic laws.

Hence the VEDAS!

DO YOU KNOW?

Newton was a firm believer in God?

The definition of God from Einstein almost matches what Swami Dayanand wrote in Satyarth Prakash!

NEXT STEPS

Acceptance of methods of west

Enhancements of methods to include purpose of life

Vedas as means to discover knowledge within rather than spoon-feed from outside
