2. FROG IN A LEAFYPOND 3. In evolutionary biology, mimicry, alsosometimes known as mimetism[citationneeded], is the similarity of one species toanother which protects one or both. Thissimilarity can bein appearance, behaviour, sound, scent and location, with the mimics found in similarplaces to their models. Mimicry occurs when a group oforganisms, the mimics, evolve to sharecommon perceived characteristics withanother group, themodels. The evolution isdriven by the selective action of a signal-receiver, or dupe. For example, birds that usesight to identify palatable insects (themimics), whilst avoiding the noxious models.
