PART ONE

The newly discovered facts which form the basis for the subject matter of thisbook are supremely important and highly significant! They are facts whichscientifically prove that the Bible could not possibly have been written by merehuman beings alone, but that it is a supernatural, God-inspired, God-given book! They are facts which enable us to see before our very eyes an actual scientificdemonstration of the divine, verbal inspiration of the Bible. The discoveries of facts so important as these are indeed "Astounding New Discoveries."

The newly revealed facts are facts which have been discovered beneath the verysurface of the original Bible text. They are facts which have been mysteriouslyand peculiarly hidden for many centuries! They are facts which have beenrevealed, not merely by the twos or threes, but by the hundreds and thousands! They are facts which are baffling and confounding atheists and agnostics--facts

which no living person has been able to discredit or refute. They are facts whichare causing skeptical and modernistic thinkers to accept the Bible as asupernatural, God-inspired book. They are facts which constitute some of thegreatest discoveries of all time. Is it any wonder that discoveries such as theseare called "Astounding New Discoveries"?

The foregoing statements in regard to the profound newly discovered facts nodoubt cause the majority of readers to ask numerous questions.

What are the amazing facts which have been discovered beneath the verysurface of the original Bible text? How do these facts scientifically prove that the

Bible could not possibly have been written by mere human beings alone, but thatit is a supernatural, God-inspired book? What important questions are nowdefinitely settled by these discoveries? Who discovered the facts? How andwhen were they discovered? Why were they not discovered until recently? Howdo they affect us?

These and various other questions no doubt arise in the minds of those who aresomewhat curious about the amazing newly discovered facts. However, beforewe state what these facts are--before we attempt to answer any of thesequestions--it is necessary to remind or inform the reader of--

WHAT THE BIBLE "CLAIMS" CONCERNING ITSELF

There can be no doubt that the Bible "claims" to be a supernatural, God-inspired,God-given book. The Bible declares that "All scripture is given by inspiration of God."--2 Timothy 3:16. The expression, "given by inspiration of God" is thetranslation of one Greek word "theopneustos," which means literally "God-breathed." The great Bible "claim" then, is that "all scripture," the entire Bible, "isGod-breathed."

The Bible "claims" that the writers of Scripture wrote, not of their own will, but

only as they were "moved or "controlled" by the Holy Spirit of God. 2 Peter 1:21declares that the Scripture came "not ... by the will of man, but holy men of Godspake as they were moved by the Holy Spirit." Another translation of this samepassage declares that no Scripture "was ever borne by man's will; but men spakefrom God, being borne on by the Holy Spirit."

The Bible "claims" that the words which the prophets wrote were not their ownwords but that they were the very words of God Himself. The Person speaking

Page 3: Science Proves the Bible

was God, not man. God was speaking merely by the prophets."--Hebrews 1:1."He (the Lord God) spake by the mouth of His holy prophets."--Luke 1:70. "TheSpirit of the Lord spake by me, and His word (not the writer's own word) was inmy tongue."--2 Samuel 23:1,2. "Behold I (God) have put my words in thymouth."--Jeremiah 1:9. "Thou shalt speak my words (God's words) unto them."--

Ezekiel 2:7. Statements such as "Thus saith the Lord," "God said," and similar expressions, occur more than 2,500 times in the entire Bible.

Thus, the Bible makes startling "claims" for itself--it actually "claims" to be asupernatural, God-breathed, God-given book--the very Word of God Himself. This is the unmistakable language of the Bible. Numerous other Biblicalstatements could be given to further show that the Bible makes this amazing"claim," but those already mentioned are sufficient for the present purpose.

Yes, there can be no doubt about what the Bible "claims" concerning itself. However, many have raised the question-- "Is that claim actually true? Is the

Bible actually the very Word of God?"

The facts which have been recently discovered beneath the very surface of theoriginal Bible text now scientifically prove and demonstrate before our very eyesthat the Bible claim is true--that the Bible actually is a supernatural, God-inspiredbook!

Various questions concerning the newly discovered facts were mentioned in apreceding paragraph. The first of these questions can now be discussed andanswered.

PART TWOWHAT ARE THE NEWLY DISCOVERED FACTS?

What are the amazing facts which have been discovered beneath the verysurface of the original Bible text? What are these facts which scientifically provethat the Bible could not possibly have been written by mere human beings alone, but that it is a supernatural, God-inspired book?

It has been stated that the facts have been mysteriously hidden beneath the verysurface of the original Bible text. In order to understand what these facts are, itwill be necessary to know--

THE MEANING OF THE TERM "ORIGINAL BIBLE TEXT"

Most persons are acquainted with the fact that the Bible contains two maindivisions--the Old Testament, and the New Testament. Strange as it may seem, these two main divisions of the Bible were originally written in differentlanguages. The Old Testament was originally written in Hebrew while the New

Page 4: Science Proves the Bible

http://slidepdf.com/reader/full/science-proves-the-bible 4/54

Testament was written in Greek. By the term "original Bible text" is meant theHebrew and Greek text of the Bible--the words of the writers in the originallanguages, not their words translated into some other language. The facts, then, have been discovered beneath the surface of the Hebrew Old Testament textand the Greek New Testament text.

Now the reader's attention is called to something very important. We wish topoint out a certain number--a number which occurs in Scripture more times thanany other. It is the number "seven." From the first book of the Bible through thelast book, "seven" is by far the outstanding number. For example, the Sabbathwas the seventh day. In Egypt there were seven years of plenty and seven yearsof famine. When the city of Jericho was captured, the people and seven priestswho had seven trumpets marched around the city seven times. Every seventhyear the land of the Israelites was not to be cultivated or planted. Solomon wasseven years building the temple. After its completion he held the feast for sevendays. Naaman washed seven times in the river.

In the book of Revelation, the last book of the Bible, this number is especiallyoutstanding. Seven churches, seven lampstands, seven seals, seven trumpets, seven vials, seven stars, seven spirits, etc., are mentioned. In all, the number seven occurs in the book of Revelation more than fifty times!

It has long been known that the number seven occurs in the Bible in thisparticular manner more frequently than any other number. However, onlyrecently it has been discovered that this same number also occurs in amysterious and peculiar manner beneath the very surface of the Hebrew OldTestament text and the Greek New Testament text.

When it is stated that the "sevens" occur in a peculiar manner "beneath thesurface" of the original Bible text, we mean that they occur in such a way thatthey are not noticed or discovered by merely reading the surface, or words. Thesevens are strangely out of the sight of ordinary Hebrew and Greek readers. They are mysteriously hidden. Thousands who have read and studied theoriginal Hebrew and Greek text of the Bible have passed by these strangeoccurrences of the number seven without even noticing their presence. Thesesevens are so deeply concealed that special searching and investigation andspecial counting are necessary in order to find them. Thus, they are said to occur "beneath the surface" of the text because they are beyond the observation andview of ordinary Hebrew and Greek readers.

It has been discovered that thousands of these sevens are mysteriously hiddenin the structure of the text. They are strangely and remarkably concealed in everyconceivable manner in the Hebrew and Greek letter, words, sentences, paragraphs, and passages!

What are the newly discovered facts? The "sevens"--the "sevens" which occur beneath the surface of the original Hebrew and Greek text of the Bible--are theamazing newly discovered facts. The "Astounding New Discoveries" arenumerical discoveries--discoveries having to do with numbers. These recentlyrevealed numerical facts or "sevens," in a most extraordinary way, enable us to

see before our very eyes an actual scientific demonstration of the divine verbalinspiration of the Bible.

The reader is given examples of these newly discovered numerical facts beforehe learns how they scientifically prove that the Bible is a supernatural, God-breathed book.

The following are examples of facts or "sevens" which have been discoveredbeneath the surface of the Hebrew text of the first verse in the Old Testament--the very first verse in the Bible.

BOOK OF GENESIS, CHAPTER ONE, VERSE 1

It is indeed strange to note that the number of Hebrew words in this verse is not6, not 8, but exactly 7. Here the number seven is discovered by counting thewords.

Now if a person counts the Hebrew letters in these seven words, he will discover that the number of letters divides perfectly by seven--is an exact multiple of seven. The number of letters in the seven words is not 27, not 29, but exactly 28,or 4 7's.

Each numerical "fact" or "seven" which occurs in the structure of the text is calleda "feature"--a "numeric" feature". The first two have already been mentioned.

FEATURE ONE. The number of Hebrew words in this verse is exactly 7.

FEATURE TWO. The number of letters in the seven words is exactly 28, or 4 7"s.Now let us continue.

FEATURE THREE. The first three of these seven Hebrew words contain thesubject and predicate of the sentence. These three words are translated--"In the

beginning God created." The number of letters in these first three Hebrew wordsis exactly 14, or 2 7's.

The last four of these seven words contain the object of the sentence. These four words are translated-- "the heavens and the earth." The number of letters inthese last four Hebrew words is 14, or 2 7's.

Page 6: Science Proves the Bible

8/2/2019 Science Proves the Bible

http://slidepdf.com/reader/full/science-proves-the-bible 6/54

FEATURE FOUR. The last four Hebrew words consist of two objects. The first is"the heavens," and the second is "and the earth. The number of letters in the firstobject is exactly 7. The number of letters in the second object is 7.

FEATURE FIVE. The three leading words in this verse of seven words are

"God"--the subject--and "heavens" and "earth"--the objects. The number of lettersin these three Hebrew words is exactly 14, or 2 7's. The number of letters in theother four words of the verse is 14, or 2 7's.

FEATURE SIX. The shortest word is in the middle. The number of letters in thisword and the word to its left is exactly 7.

FEATURE SEVEN. The number of letters in the middle word and the word to itsright is exactly 7.

These seven--these numeric features or facts--are indeed strangely hidden

"beneath the surface." They are truly beyond the view of ordinary readers of theHebrew text and are discovered only by special investigation and counting.

The above are only a few examples of the many amazing numeric facts whichhave been discovered in the structure of this first verse of only seven Hebrewwords. Literally dozens of other phenomenal numeric features strangely underliethe structure of this verse.

Examples of these newly discovered facts or numerical features should bepointed out from other passages before the reader learns how the factsscientifically prove that the Bible could not possible have been written by mere

human beings alone, but that it is a supernatural, God-inspired, God-given book.

The following are examples of the newly discovered facts or "sevens" whichoccur in a peculiar manner beneath the surface of the Greek text of the firstverses in the New Testament.

BOOK OF MATTHEW, CHAPTER ONE, VERSES 1-17The Account of Christ's Genealogy

The first seventeen verses in the book of Matthew form a natural, logical division

by themselves, for they deal with one particular subject, namely, the genealogyof Christ.

These first seventeen verses of the Greek New Testament consist of two mainsections. (1) Verses 1-11. (2) Verses 12-17. Each section contains amazingnumeric features in the structure of its text.

Page 7: Science Proves the Bible

The following are a few examples of the facts or "sevens" which have beendiscovered beneath the surface of the first main section, verses 1-11.

FEATURE ONE. The number of Greek vocabulary words used in the first elevenverses is not 48, not 50, but exactly 49, or 7 7's.

It must be remembered that the number of vocabulary words in a passage isusually different from the total number of words in a passage. The vocabularywords are the different words used. For instance, the word "and" is one word inthe vocabulary, but it may be repeated many times in the passage itself. A manmay have a vocabulary of only five hundred words. With these five hundreddifferent words he may write an essay of four thousand words. Some of thewords, such as "and," "for," "by," etc., may be used over and over again. Thenumber of vocabulary words, or the number of different words used in a passage,is thus not the same as the total number of words used. (We mentioned that thenumber of vocabulary words in the first eleven verses Matthew is exactly 49, or 7

7's. Now let us continue.)

FEATURE TWO. The number of letters in these 49 words is exactly 266, or 387's.

FEATURE THREE. Of these 266 letters of the vocabulary words, the number of vowels is exactly 140, or 20 7's. Of these 266 letters of the vocabulary, thenumber of consonants is 126, or 18 7's.

FEATURE FOUR. Of these 49 words, the number which begin with a vowel isexactly 28, or 4 7's. The number of words which begin with a consonant is 21, or

3 7's.

FEATURE FIVE. Of the 49 Greek vocabulary words, the number which arenouns is exactly 42, or 6 7's. The number which are not nouns is 7.

FEATURE SIX. Of the 42 nouns in the first eleven verses, the number which areproper nouns is exactly 35, or 5 's. The number which are common nouns is 7.

FEATURE SEVEN. The number of Greek letters in these 7 common nouns isexactly 49, or 7 7's. It is amazing to note that in these 7 common nouns alone, there are more than 20 numeric features.

FEATURE EIGHT. The number of times the 35 proper names occur is exactly63, or 9 7's.

FEATURE NINE. Of the 35 proper names in the vocabulary of the first elevenverses of Matthew, the number of male names is exactly 28, or 4 7's. Thenumber which are not male names is 7.

Page 8: Science Proves the Bible

8/2/2019 Science Proves the Bible

http://slidepdf.com/reader/full/science-proves-the-bible 8/54

FEATURE TEN. The number of times these 28 male names occur is exactly 56,or 8 7's.

FEATURE ELEVEN. In these first 11 verses, three women are mentioned--Tamar, Rahab, and Ruth. The number of Greek letters in these three names is

exactly 14, or 2 7's.

FEATURE TWELVE. Just one city is named in this passage, namely Babylon. The number of Greek letters in this word is exactly 7.

FEATURE THIRTEEN. Of these 49 Greek vocabulary words in the first elevenverses, the number of words which occur more than once is exactly 35, or 5 7's.The number of words which occur only once is 14, or 2 7's.

FEATURE FOURTEEN. Of these 49 Greek vocabulary words, the number whichappear in only one form is exactly 42, or 6 7's. The number which appear in more

than one form is 7.

These numeric facts or sevens are indeed beyond the view of mere "readers" of the Greek text. They are truly mysteriously hidden beneath the surface and canbe discovered only by special searching and calculations.

It was stated that the first seventeen verses in the Greek New Testament consistof two main sections. (1) Verses 1-11. (2) Verses 12-17. The above are merely afew examples of the many amazing numerical features which have beendiscovered beneath the surface of the first section of eleven verses. The verystructure of the passage is literally saturated with phenomenal occurrences of the

number seven. The second section, verses 12-17, contains equally profoundnumeric features of its own.

Before we show how these facts or sevens scientifically prove the divineinspiration of the Bible, let us quickly and briefly point out a few additionalexamples from the Greek text of other New Testament passages.

The section following the first seventeen verses of Matthew is verses 18-25. Inpassing, we give space to mention only two of the many phenomenal numericfacts which have been discovered beneath the surface of this one passage.

BOOK OF MATTHEW, CHAPTER ONE, VERSES 18-25The Account of Christ's Birth

FEATURE ONE. It is indeed interesting to note that the number of Greekvocabulary words in this passage is not 76, not 78, but exactly 77, or 11 7's. Alsoof special interest is--

Page 9: Science Proves the Bible

http://slidepdf.com/reader/full/science-proves-the-bible 9/54

FEATURE TWO. Of the 77 Greek vocabulary words, the number of words theangel used in speaking to Joseph is exactly 28, or 4 7's.

Even the angel's little speech has amazing numerical features all of its own. Theyare entirely separate from the rest of the passage, yet they form a part of the

numerical features of the whole passage. They are intertwined in such a way thatthe entire passage contains remarkable occurrences of the number seven. Thisnumber strangely underlies the very structure of the passage in everyconceivable manner. The Greek letters and words are literally permeated withamazing numeric features.

Following are merely two of many numerical facts which are strangely hiddenbeneath the surface of the second chapter of Matthew.

BOOK OF MATTHEW, CHAPTER TWOThe Account of Christ's Childhood

FEATURE ONE. The number of Greek vocabulary words in the second chapter of Matthew is exactly 161, or 23 7's.

FEATURE TWO. The number of Greek letters in these 161 words is exactly 896,or 128 7's.

There are several paragraphs in the second chapter of Matthew, and eachparagraph has amazing numerical features all of its own. They are separate fromthe rest of the passage, yet in a peculiar and intricate way, they form a part of theamazing features of the whole chapter. They are intertwined in such a

phenomenal way that the entire chapter is one great mathematical unit whichconsists of amazing numerical facts. For example, the number of Greekvocabulary words in the first six verses divides perfectly by 7. The number of vocabulary words is exactly 56, or 8 7's.

There are three speeches in the chapter. Herod speaks, the wise men speak, theangel speaks. Each speech shows numeric features in itself, yet each forms onlypart of the chapter, which as a whole has phenomenal features of its own. Eachdivision alone shows the same numeric phenomena found in the chapter as awhole.

Now let us go on to the book of Mark and examine several passages. The sametype of numerical phenomena that we found hidden in the structure of Matthew, are also found beneath the surface of Mark.

BOOK OF MARK, CHAPTER ONE, VERSES 1-8

Page 10: Science Proves the Bible

8/2/2019 Science Proves the Bible

http://slidepdf.com/reader/full/science-proves-the-bible 10/54

The number of Greek vocabulary words in these first eight verses is not 76, not78, but exactly 77, or 11 7's. Of these 77 vocabulary words, the ones which beginwith a consonant is 35, or 5 7's. Of the 77 vocabulary words, the number Johnused in his speech is exactly 21, or 3 7's. Again these are but a few of the manynumeric features which permeate the structure of this passage.

The next natural paragraph following these first eight verses consists of verses 9,10, 11. This paragraph gives an account of the baptism of Christ. The number of vocabulary words in this passage is exactly 35, or 5 7's.

Going on to the second chapter of Mark for another example, we find, in verses13-17, an account of the call of Levi (Matthew), and Christ's conversation with theScribes and Pharisees. The number of Greek vocabulary words in these fiveverses is exactly 49, or 7 7's. Of the 49 vocabulary words, the number used byChrist is exactly 14, or 2 7's, while the number of words used by the Scribes isexactly 7.

In the fourth chapter of Mark, verses 3-20, Christ relates the parable of thesower. The number of Greek vocabulary words in this parable is exactly 49, or 77's. In Mark, chapter 13, verses 5-37, we find our Lord's important messageregarding future events and the Second Coming of Christ. The number of Greekvocabulary words in this passage is exactly 203, or 29 7's.

Going on to the very last passage in the book of Mark, we find the samemarvelous numeric phenomena. The following are only four of over one hundrednumerical features which have been discovered in the structure of this onepassage of only twelve verses--Mark, chapter 16, verses 9-20.

The number of Greek vocabulary words in these 12 verses is exactly 98, or 147's. The number of letters in the 98 vocabulary words is exactly 553, or 79 7's. Of these 553 letters, the number of vowels is exactly 294, or 42 7's. The number of consonants is 259, or 37 7's. Of the 98 Greek vocabulary words, the number used by Christ in addressing His disciples is exactly 42, or 6 7's. The number of vocabulary words which form no part of Christ's speech is 56, or 8 7's.

This passage not only shows amazing numeric features as a whole, but it showsfeatures within the features, and further features within those. The separateparagraphs have features of their own within the features of the complete

passage. The vocabulary has its features, and the forms have theirs. It ismarvelous indeed!

“NUMERIC VALUES"

Page 11: Science Proves the Bible

8/2/2019 Science Proves the Bible

http://slidepdf.com/reader/full/science-proves-the-bible 11/54

One of the most interesting and fascinating studies in connectionwith the newly discovered facts is the study of "numeric values." InHebrew and Greek every letter, word, sentence, and passage hasa definite "numeric value" or "arithmetical sum." The reader will besurprised to learn that thousands of the newly discovered facts, or

7's, occur in an astonishing manner in the "numeric values" of theBible words, sentences, and passages.

The Hebrews and Greeks did not use figures such as 1, 2, 3, 4,etc., to express "numbers"--they used the letters of their alphabetsinstead! For instance, if a Hebrew or Greek wanted to write "1," hewould write the first letter of his alphabet. If he wanted to write "2,"he would write the second letter of his alphabet, or if he wishedexpress "3," he would write the third letter of his alphabet, etc. Each letter in the Hebrew and the Greek alphabet stands for acertain number--each letter is assigned a definite "numeric value."

In other words, every letter in Hebrew and Greek is a "number" aswell as a "letter."

Since each letter has a numeric value, each word likewise has a numeric value, for every word is made up of one or more letters. The numeric value of a word isobtained by adding the numeric values of the various letters in that particular word. By way of illustration, let us determine the numeric value of the word"Jesus." In Greek, "Jesus" is spelled "I H S O U S." "I" stands for 10, "H' standsfor 8, "S" stands for 200, "O' for 70, "U" for 400, and "S" for 200. If we add thesenumbers we will discover that the numeric value of the word "Jesus" is 888. Thenumeric value, at first thought, might seem to be very insignificant. However,

when we turn to the book of Revelation, Chapter 13, verse 18, and find thatSatan's number, or the number of the antichrist is plainly stated to be 666, webegin to realize that there must be some significance to the fact that the numericvalue of the word "Jesus" is exactly 888! This strange comparison causes us tomarvel and wonder!

Just as every word has a certain numeric value, so every sentence, paragraph, and book of the Bible has a definite numeric value or arithmetical sum. Thenumeric value of a sentence is obtained by adding the numeric value of eachword contained therein. Likewise, the numeric value of a paragraph is obtainedby adding the numeric values of all the words in the paragraph. The numericvalue of each of the sixty-six books of the bible is determined in precisely thesame manner.

Now let us go back to the first verse of Genesis for a moment. There are threeimportant nouns in this verse--"God," "heaven," and "earth." The numeric valuesof these three nouns are 86, 395, and 296, respectively. When we add thesethree numbers, we find that the total numeric value of the three words is not 776,or 778, but strangely enough, is exactly 777, or 111 7's. Neither 776 nor 778 of

Page 12: Science Proves the Bible

8/2/2019 Science Proves the Bible

http://slidepdf.com/reader/full/science-proves-the-bible 12/54

course divides evenly by 7. It is strange to note that the "numeric value" of theverb in the first verse of Genesis is also a number which divides perfectly by 7.The numeric value of the Hebrew word "created" is exactly 203, or 29 7's.Turning now to the first seventeen verses of Matthew, the account of Christ'sgenealogy, we find that the numeric value of the vocabulary words in those

verses is also an exact multiple of 7, namely 42,364, or 6,052 7's. Notice that thenumber is not 42,363, or 42,365. Neither of these divides evenly by 7. If evenone Greek letter were taken out or exchanged for another the numeric value of the passage would be changed.

We mentioned previously that exactly 77 vocabulary words are used in theaccount of Christ's birth, Matthew 1:18-25. The reader will marvel at the fact thatthe numeric value of these 77 words is also an exact multiple of 7, namely51,247, or 7,321 7's. We also mentioned that the angel used exactly 28 of these77 vocabulary words when speaking to Joseph. The numeric value of the angel'swords is exactly 21,042, or 3,006 7's. In the second chapter of Matthew, the

account of Christ's childhood, exactly 161 vocabulary words are used. Thenumeric value of these words is exactly 123,529, or 17,647 7's.

"CHAIN" FEATURES

Just before we learn how the newly discovered facts scientifically prove thedivine inspiration of the Bible, we must note one other particular manner in whichthe "sevens" are found in the structure of the Bible text. The examples whichhave been given thus far are examples of facts which occur beneath the surfaceof single passages. The following features, however, occur in a different manner.

They are called "chain" features because they occur in the structure of words thatare separated by great distance. The words in a "chain" feature are scatteredthroughout many different books of the Bible. They are not confined to any oneparticular passage.

The names of the Bible-writers, for instance, are widely separated throughoutScriptures. It is remarkable to note that the number "seven" is found even in thescattered occurrences of these names. The number of Old Testament writersnamed in the Bible is exactly 21, or 3 7's. The numeric value of these 21 Hebrewnames is also divisible by 7. It is exactly 3,808 or 544 7's. Of these 21 OldTestament writers, those named in the New Testament are Moses, David, Isaiah,Jeremiah, Daniel, Hosea and Joe. In all, exactly 7. The numeric value of these 7names is exactly 1,554, or 222 7's. The name which appears the greatestnumber of times in the Old Testament is David. The number of times his name isfound is exactly 1,134, or 162 7's. The name Jeremiah, for instance, occurs in 7Old Testament books in 7 different forms in Hebrew, and the number of times itoccurs in those 7 Old Testament books is exactly 147, or 21 7's. The number of times that the name Moses, writer of the first book, occurs in the Bible is exactly847, or 121 7's. Again these are merely a few examples of the many astounding

Page 13: Science Proves the Bible

numeric features which occur beneath the surface of the Bible writers' names. Infact, there are 38 or more features in the occurrences of just this one nameMoses.

The reader can readily see that the above numeric features are not found in the

structure of any one particular passage, but are found in the structure of wordsthat are separated by great distances. These features are strangely hidden in theoccurrences of words which are scattered throughout many different books of theOld and New Testaments. The discovery of "chain" features such as theserequires careful searching and special investigation of the entire Bible. One of themost intriguing studies in connection with the newly discovered facts is the studyof "chain" features. The Bible is literally filled with them!

In the preceding pages the reader has been given a small conception of thethousands of amazing facts which have been found in the very structure of Biblepassages.

It has been discovered that amazing numerical facts occur beneath the surfaceof the original bible text from the very first verse in Genesis through the very lastverse in Revelation. Phenomenal mathematical features, similar to the examplesalready presented, underlie and pervade the text of every one of the sixty-sixBible books. They occur in the very structure of every paragraph in the entireBible, not in the paragraphs only, but frequently in the many subdivisions of paragraphs. Often single verses are literally teeming and saturated withastounding numerical facts. These features extend to all parts of the text, vocabulary, grammatical forms, parts of speech, etc. Frequently as many as ahundred or more numeric features are strangely hidden beneath the surface of

passages which consist of no more than 175 words. Actually thousands uponthousands of these numerical facts have been discovered--they are so abundantthat more than 40,000 pages have been required to contain the calculations usedin discovering and enumerating the features of the New Testament alone.

PART THREE

How do the Newly Discovered Facts Scientifically Prove That The Bible Is AGod-Inspired, God-Given Book?

The presence of the amazing numerical features or facts beneath the very

surface of the original bible text cannot be denied by anyone. There are actuallythousands of phenomenal, numerical facts in the very structure of the Bible. Onecan ignore them and turn his eyes from them, but the astounding numeric factscontinue to be there. Our own opinions, likes or dislikes, do not alter the facts inthe least. Welcome or unwelcome, acknowledged or unacknowledged, the factscontinue to be there. Their presence is one truth which every person mustaccept.

Page 14: Science Proves the Bible

8/2/2019 Science Proves the Bible

http://slidepdf.com/reader/full/science-proves-the-bible 14/54

Now then, since these facts are actually found in the very structure of the Bibletext, a certain logical question arises—

HOW CAN WE ACCOUNT FOR THE PRESENCE OF THESE FACTS?

How did these features occur or come to be in the very structure of the Bibletext? Their presence must be explained in some satisfactory way.

The reader will agree that there are only two possible ways in which theseamazing facts could have occurred. They could have occurred either by accident, that is, by sheer chance, or by design. They could have occurred accidentally, or they could have been purposely designed or arranged.

No doubt some are of the opinion that these features occurred accidentally--thatthey occurred in this peculiar manner merely by sheer chance. Therefore, let ussuppose that there are twenty-four numerical features or facts in the structure of

a certain passage. What chances are there that these 24 features would occur together in one passage accidentally? This is easily calculated, for there is astandard, recognized, scientific method of calculating chances--there is anestablished law of chances.

Only one number in seven is a multiple of seven. The other six numbers whichare not multiples of seven have as good a chance to occur accidentally as theone that is a multiple of seven. Therefore, according to the law of chances, for any 1 number to be a multiple of 7 accidentally, there is only 1 chance in 7.

According to the law of chances, for any 2 numbers to be multiples of 7

accidentally, there is only 1 chance in 7 x 7, or only 1 chance in 49.

According to the law of chances, for any 3 numbers to be multiples of 7accidentally, there is only 1 chance in 7 x 49, or only 1 chance in 343.

(The calculation continues on the same basis)

Thus, according to the law of chances, for any 1 FEATURE or NUMERIC FACTto occur accidentally, there is only 1 chance in 7

For 2 features * 1 chance in 49

For 3 features * 1 chance in 343For 4 features * 1 chance in 2,401For 5 features * 1 chance in 16,807For 6 features * 1 chance in 117,649For 7 features * 1 chance in 823,543For 8 features * 1 chance in 5,764,801For 9 features * 1 chance in 40,353,607For 10 features * 1 chance in 282,475,249

Page 15: Science Proves the Bible

8/2/2019 Science Proves the Bible

http://slidepdf.com/reader/full/science-proves-the-bible 15/54

For 11 features * 1 chance in 1,977,326,743For 12 features * 1 chance in 13,841,287,201For 13 features * 1 chance in 96,889,010,407For 14 features * 1 chance in 678,223,072,849For 15 features * 1 chance in 4,747,561,509,943

For 16 features * 1 chance in 33,232,930,569,601For 17 features * 1 chance in 232,630,513,987,207For 18 features * 1 chance in 1,628,413,597,910,449For 19 features * 1 chance in 11,398,895,185,373,143For 20 features * 1 chance in 79,792,266,297,612,001For 21 features * 1 chance in 558,545,864,083,284,007For 22 features * 1 chance in 3,909,821,048,582,988,049For 23 features * 1 chance in 27,368,747,340,080,916,343For 24 features * 1 chance in 191,581,231,380,566,414,401

* = "to occur accidentally, there is only"

Thus, according to the law of chances, for the 24 features to occur in a passageaccidentally, there is only 1 chance in 191,581,231,380,566,414,401---only 1chance in one hundred ninety-one quintillion, five hundred eighty -one quadrillion, two hundred thirty-one trillion, three hundred eighty billion, five hundred sixty-sixmillion, four hundred fourteen thousand, four hundred one. (The nomenclatureherein used is the American, not the British.)

Many brief Bible passages have as many as seventy or a hundred or moreamazing numeric features in the very structure of their text. If there is only onechance in quintillions that 24 features could occur together accidentally, what

would the chance be for 70 features to occur together accidentally?

When there is only one chance in thousands for something to happenaccidentally, it is already considered highly improbable that it will occur at all. When there is only one chance in hundreds of thousands, it is consideredpractically impossible. But here there is one chance in not only millions, butbillions, trillions, and quadrillions, and quintillions, that merely 24 features couldoccur together in a passage accidentally.

The argument and demonstration is convincing enough. The amazing numericalfeatures of even one small passage, to say nothing of the thousands in the entireBible, could not possibly have occurred by accident--by sheer chance. All thisevidence simply cannot be explained by the doctrine of chances. If thesefeatures did not occur accidentally, then there is only one conclusion, onealternative. They were purposely designed or arranged--their occurrence in sucha marvelous and mysterious manner was intended or planned. The point can beillustrated as follows:

Page 16: Science Proves the Bible

8/2/2019 Science Proves the Bible

http://slidepdf.com/reader/full/science-proves-the-bible 16/54

Suppose for example, someone were carrying a bag which contained 24oranges. Suppose that suddenly the bag broke and the 24 oranges fell to thefloor. What chance would there be that the oranges would fall into four perfectrows with six in each row, each orange being exactly opposite the other? Suchself arrangement would be considered impossible!

Suppose, on the other hand, you came into the room and found the orangesarranged in the manner described. You would come to only one conclusion, namely, that they were purposely designed or arranged in that unusual manner. No one would risk being called insane by insisting that such a thing occurredaccidentally!

Likewise, these profound numeric features found in the very structure of theoriginal Bible text are not there by sheer chance or accident, but by design. Theyare arranged according to a definite plan; they form thousands of perfect anduniform designs.

It has been conclusively shown that there are amazing numerical features in thevery structure of the Bible--their presence cannot be denied, but is a truth whicheveryone must accept. It has also been proved that these features could notpossibly have occurred by sheer chance or accident, but that they were arrangedor designed. This is a second truth which everyone must accept.

Since the discovery of a design is proof of a designer, the next logical questionarises---

WHO PLANNED AND CARRIED OUT THESE AMAZING NUMERICDESIGNS?

Who caused them to occur in the very structure of the Bible text?

The thousands of perfect patterns and designs came into the Scripture throughsome intelligence. The reader will agree that there are only two possibleintelligences that could have planned and brought about these profound designs. They could have come into the Scripture either by human intelligence or bysuperhuman, namely, divine intelligence.

Were these amazing numeric designs planned by the men who wrote the booksof the Bible?

(1) The profound numeric patterns in the structure of the Bible passages couldnot possibly have been planned and worked out by mere human beings alone.

If anyone could write an intelligible passage of 300 words, constructing it in sucha way that the same designs and schemes of sevens occur in the structure of its

Page 17: Science Proves the Bible

8/2/2019 Science Proves the Bible

http://slidepdf.com/reader/full/science-proves-the-bible 17/54

text as those found in the first seventeen verses of Matthew, indeed he wouldprove himself a wonder if he could accomplish it in six months.

If anyone could write an intelligible passage of 161 words, constructing it in sucha manner that the same designs and arrangements of sevens occur in the

structure of its text as those which are found in verses 18-25 of the first chapter of Matthew, he would accomplish a still greater wonder if he were able to do it inthree years.

If anyone in an entire lifetime of continuous work could write an intelligiblepassage of some 500 words, containing in its structure as many intertwined yetharmonious numeric features as are found in the second chapter of Matthew, itwould be a miracle of miracles.

No mortal in a lifetime of a hundred years could possibly have carried out thedesign which is found in even a single book of the Bible, if he devoted the entire

hundred years to the task. It would require some centuries to write a bookdesigned and constructed in the manner in which the book of Matthew isconstructed.

It must be remembered that with each additional sentence the difficulty of constructing these numerical features increases not only in arithmeticalprogression, but in geometrical progression, for each paragraph is designed soas to develop constantly fixed numeric relations to the material which precedesand follows it. Every additional letter, word, and sentence makes the matter tremendously more complicated and comprehensive.

The reader must also observe that many of the Scripture writers were menchosen from very ordinary walks of life--men who had little or no schooling at all.If Matthew, Mark, Luke, or John, for instance, had attempted to construct andproduce the harmonious numeric features and designs which are found in their books as a whole, and had attempted to produce separate numeric schemes anddesigns which occur in each division, and in each sub-division, and in the words, forms, vocabularies, letters, etc., how long would it have taken them to constructtheir books? Centuries upon centuries!

Certainly, mere human beings alone could not possibly have planned andworked out the amazing designs of numeric features which occur in the very

structure of the Bible text. The limitations of the human intellect and theshortness of human life make it impossible for any man or any set of mencombined to accomplish such stupendous feats.

Dr. D. B. Turney tells how he attempted to construct a passage that would showsome numeric features. He declares, "I gave numeric values to the Englishalphabet, and tried to prepare a passage which would adhere to the numerics, and make every section a multiple of seven, and present all the other features of

Page 18: Science Proves the Bible

biblical arithmography, without letting the meaning of the passage descend tononsense. After working thereon for days, I could get no satisfaction. Yet thisfeature is accomplished in every one of the thousands of Bible paragraphswithout the slightest visible effort."

(2) The marvelous numeric designs which extend over many books of the Biblecould not possibly have been planned and carried out by the writers themselves.

Not only are the phenomenal designs confined to the text of single Biblepassages, but widely separated portions of the Bible are woven into intricate andperfect patterns. Special words which are scattered through many different booksof the Bible form amazing chain-designs that literally teem with numericalfeatures. The numeric designs in the structure of the Bible writers' names, for instance, extend throughout the entire scriptures. The discovery of such word-chains requires careful searching in all parts of the 66 books of the Bible.

The double design of sevens in the name "Moses," for example, could not havebeen planned and carried out by the Bible writers themselves. It must beremembered that the writers did not live at the same time--they lived many yearsapart. In fact, there was a period of about 1600 years between the writing of thefirst book of the Bible and the last. It must be remembered also that the 66 bookswere written by 33 different persons. And it must be remembered that thesepersons were scattered throughout various countries of the world and that theywere men of widely different backgrounds. Many of the writers had little or noschooling. How could these men have planned the distribution of the name"Moses" throughout the entire Bible so as to form marvelous numeric designs?

How could each one of the 33 writers who lived in various counties, the last writer separated by 1600 years from the first, insert the name "Moses" just enoughtimes to keep the numeric design in suspense until it came to John, the last writer who used it in the book of Revelation just once to complete the design? Howcould each writer have known that he should use a particular word a certainnumber of times so that when all would be finished after 1600 years the totalwould divide perfectly by seven and would show numeric design? Certainly suchdesign could not possibly have been planned by the writers themselves. Thecase of Moses is only one example of a chain design which extends throughoutthe entire Bible. Literally hundreds of other cases as convincing as this can bepointed out.

Each word of the whole Scripture is linked and connected in one marvelouspattern. All the intricacies and beauties of the separate and smaller patternswhen put together form one great design. Thus, the entire Bible is tied together by a continuous pattern from Genesis to Revelation.

The designs interlock paragraph with paragraph, book with book, and the OldTestament with the New Testament. The numerics of the Old Testament and

Page 19: Science Proves the Bible

8/2/2019 Science Proves the Bible

http://slidepdf.com/reader/full/science-proves-the-bible 19/54

those of the New together form harmonious schemes which could not be madepossible or solved without either of the Testaments. The Old Testament wasconcluded 400 years before the New Testament was begun, yet the two whentaken together form one complete revelation. Both accord perfectly--both areparts of one homogeneous whole.

The fact that the Bible was written by a number of different persons in variouscountries of the world over a period of hundreds of years makes it impossible for the writers to have planned these patterns. Designs which cover some 1600years could never have been planned and carried out by man, for many of thewords were penned without any knowledge of what would be written by other writers many years later. Even if it were possible for the 33 different writers tomeet and comment about the use of their vocabularies, etc., it would requirethousands of years to carry out such profound numeric schemes.

The minds of the cleverest men who have ever lived would not be capable of

devising such sublime mathematical problems. No human minds could possiblyhave devised such a means of binding the whole of the Word together.

(3) the special elaborate numeric designs in each book of the bible could notpossibly have been planned and carried out by the writers unaided.

The number of words found in Matthew, not found in any of the other 26 NewTestament books, shows elaborate designs. How did Matthew know that heshould use certain words which would not be used in any of the other 26 booksof the New Testament? In order for him to have done this it would have beennecessary for him to have had all these other books before him as he write his

book. If he had all these other 26 books before him as he wrote, it would meanthat he wrote his Gospel last.

It so happens, however, that each of the other books has a certain number of words which are not found in any other New Testament book. These words showphenomenal numeric designs. How did each writer know that he should use acertain number of words which would not be used in any other book? In order for each writer to have done this it would have been necessary for each one to havehad all the other 26 books before him as he wrote. If each had the other 26books before him as he wrote, it would mean that each particular book waswritten last. But such a things is an utter impossibility! How could each NewTestament writer have the other 26 books before him as he wrote? Such a thingis unthinkable!

These are only a few of the many problems which confront a person who tries tofigure out how mere men could have designed and arranged the phenomenalnumeric features in the structure of the original Bible text. Certainly theseamazing numerical designs could not possibly have been planned and carriedout by mere human beings.

Page 20: Science Proves the Bible

8/2/2019 Science Proves the Bible

http://slidepdf.com/reader/full/science-proves-the-bible 20/54

It is interesting to note that as far as is known,

THE BIBLE IS THE ONLY BOOK IN EXISTENCE WHICH IS CONSTRUCTEDON AN AMAZING NUMERIC DESIGN

At first glance the most obvious objection to the numeric features of the Bible isthat such or similar numerics could be extracted from any other writings in anylanguage if sufficient time and ingenuity were expended. However, this is not thecase. The Bible is different from all other books. No other piece of literatureanywhere in the entire world is known to contain amazing numerical featuressuch as are found in the structure of the Bible text. The Apocrypha shows noevidence of such numeric design. Various persons have devoted much time tothe examination of the Greek classics in an effort to find the same mathematicalstructure, but no such phenomena have yet been found anywhere.

Various professors of Greek have been requested to submit Greek proseclassics to the numeric test to ascertain if these same amazing numericalphenomena could be found. No one has reported any success in finding suchnumeric designs.

No human beings could have written the Bible in the way it is demonstrated tohave been written. No human foresight or arrangement could have secured suchresults beforehand; no human powers could have carried them out to suchperfection. Man by his own attainments could not perform such unthinkable feats. It is simply impossible to account for these designs of numeric features if themere human authorship of the Bible is assumed.

If human logic is worth anything at all we are simply driven to the conclusion thatthe thousands of amazing numeric designs in the very structure of the originalBible text could not possibly have been planned by the men who wrote the booksof the Bible--they could never have been produced by mere human minds.

Its is evident that the Bible is not the work of many minds, but the work of OneMind. The designs furnish clear proof that the whole Bible has but one Author. Allthe books of both the Old and New Testaments were planned and produced bythe same Mind.

Every candid, logical minded individual is simply compelled to admit that theintelligence which planned and designed the Bible must have been Superhuman,Divine. That One Designer was a Supernatural, Master Designer. Only theSupreme, Omniscient, Omnipotent god could have caused such phenomenalnumeric designs to occur beneath the surface of the Bible text. Only God couldhave constructed the Bible in the amazing manner in which it is constructed. TheEternal, Omnipotent Author designed, superintended, worked, and carried outHis Own infinite plans. There is no escape from this conclusion.

Page 21: Science Proves the Bible

8/2/2019 Science Proves the Bible

http://slidepdf.com/reader/full/science-proves-the-bible 21/54

Thus the newly discovered designs of numerical features or facts scientificallyprove that the great Bible "claim" concerning itself (Part 1) is actually true. TheBible actually is a supernatural, God-inspired, God-given book as it claims to be,for mere human beings alone could not possibly have written and constructed itin the marvelous manner in which it is constructed.

Indeed, "all scripture" is "God-breathed." The words which the writers of the Biblerecorded were not their own word, but were the very words of God Himself--theywrote only as they were "moved" or "in-breathed" by the Spirit of god.

In geometry the two angles at the base of an isosceles triangle are proved to beequal by cold unimpassioned mathematical reasoning about which there can beno dispute. So the divine inspiration of the Bible is proved with all the clearnessand positiveness of mathematical precision. Skeptics can bring no indictmentagainst the proof made possible by the numerical facts, for the proof deals withmathematical certainties. The modern scientific method, the hard logic, the sound

laws of reasoning, are astounding. One cannot argue with mathematics, for it isan exact science.

The facts are undeniable and indisputable--their conclusions are unavoidable. They are stupendous, overwhelming evidence of divine inspiration which shatter all the arguments of non-believers.

The discoveries of facts as important as these, are indeed "Astounding NewDiscoveries." They are as amazing as any discoveries that can be made. Theresults are staggering. The facts are hardly conceivable except that they arevisible before our eyes. One is forced to say with awe, "This is the work of God

Himself." God has written His signature in His Word in this phenomenal manner so that no man can claim it as a human production.

It is utterly foolish for anyone to say that the numerical facts do not underlie theactual text and vocabulary of the Bible passages. They are there! To make sucha statement would be as foolish as saying that there is no blood in a living humanbeing.

The evidence and facts are such that no destructive critic can successfully facethem. Facing them means unconditional surrender to the inevitable. They forman unanswerable argument--they make possible a certain and foolproof system

which can stand any amount of honest testing. No living person has yetattempted to dispute this convincing array of facts. The best anyone can do is toignore them.

Robert Ingersoll, the noted infidel lecturer, was continually crying for a miracle. Here are hundreds of miracles! Let anyone deal with these facts and show howthey occurred in the very structure of the original Bible text if they did not occur ina miraculous way!

PART FOUR

The Remarkable Precision of the Numeric Designs

Readers will be amazed to learn that the perfect numeric designs which underliethe very structure of the original Bible text make it possible to detect any letter or word that anyone might add, omit, or transpose. The extraordinary mathematicaldesigns in a profound manner determine the exact order of words, spelling, etc.

Just as an astronomer, who knows definite astronomical calculations and theposition of various planets, can determine where and when certain other planetswill appear, so one who knows definite numerical calculations of the Bible andthe position of various letter, words, or books, can immediately determine wherecertain other letters, words, or books should occur.

The following is a striking illustration of the remarkable precision and accuracymade possible by the presence of the numerical facts in the very structure of theBible text.

A certain Bible concordance prepared by C. F. Hudson, supervised by H. L.Hastings, and checked by Ezra Abbot, lists what were evidently thought to be allof the Bible references in which the word "Moses" occurs. According to theconcordance the name appears in exactly 846 Bible references. This number of course is out of harmony with various numeric designs which run through theBible. According to certain numeric designs the name would be expected tooccur a number of times which divides perfectly by seven. Of course 846 does

not divide evenly by seven, but 847 does--it is 121 sevens. What is the trouble? Was one of the references omitted from the concordance?

Yes, a reference to Moses which that certain edition of the concordance does notlist is found in the book of Hebrews. The scholarly gentlemen who prepared thisconcordance apparently overlooked this verse, but the error is detected by thedesigns of numerical facts which occur in the very structure of the Bible text.

The newly discovered numerical facts definitely settle the question regarding thecorrect number of books the Bible should contain. The Roman and GreekCatholic Churches include in the Old Testament of their Bibles, 14 books known

as the Apocrypha, which Protestants do not include. The books of the Apocryphadate from 300 B.C. to 100 A.D. With the exception of these books, the Romanand Greek Catholic Bibles are practically identical with the Protestant Bible. Whatis the correct number of Bible books?

There are many marvelous numeric designs which run through all of the 66books of the Protestant Bible as a whole---patterns which bind these books intoone great unit. If a single book is added or removed, certain elaborate numeric

Page 23: Science Proves the Bible

8/2/2019 Science Proves the Bible

http://slidepdf.com/reader/full/science-proves-the-bible 23/54

designs or chains which tie these books together are completely destroyed.Furthermore, there is no evidence of numerical features and designs in the textof the Apocrypha. Thus the Bibles of the Roman and Greek Catholic Church, sofar as the number of books is concerned, are proved to be incorrect. Thenumerical facts thus act as an automatic check against tampering with the

divinely planned number of books.

Since each letter stands for a number, it is clear that a change in even a singleletter changes the "numeric value" of an entire passage. The omission of or achange in a single letter, to say nothing of a whole word, at once destroys manyfeatures of a perfect numeric design. In fact, the design as a whole is destroyedby the addition of one word. In one case, all is harmony, and the elaboratescheme of sevens is seen at once, while in the other case, all is confusion if something foreign is introduced into the delicate numerical systems mysteriouslyrecorded in the Bible by the Holy Spirit.

"PLACE VALUES" AND "ORDER NUMBERS"

The exact order of Bible words is determined by the numeric designs in the"place values" and "order numbers" of the words. For example, supposesomeone should change the order of the names of our Lord in a certain passagefrom "Jesus Christ," to "Christ Jesus." The number of letters in the passagewould remain the same, but the order of those two words would be different.Could such a change be detected? Would we be able to determine whether "Jesus Christ" or "Christ Jesus" is the correct order of the words? Since theproper order for each particular passage is definitely established by the numeric

designs in the place values and order numbers of the words, the correct order could be determined by submitting both passages to the numeric test. Thepassage which gives the true order of the words would show numeric design, whereas the passage which gives the false order would not show numericdesign. A change in the order of words in any Bible passage invariably destroysperfect designs in the place values and order numbers. Even the exact spellingof words may be determined by the designs in the order numbers.

It is remarkable also to note that a profound "cross-section" method--a system of multiplication--makes it possible to promptly detect any errors which one mightmake when checking on the place and order of words in the vocabulary.

It is indeed marvelous to think of the many separate systems of designs whichrun through each letter and word of the Bible. Not only is there a definite numericscheme in the "numeric values" of each letter and word, but there are alsoseparate designs in the place values, values, and order numbers, of each letter and word. Each pattern or design serves its own particular purpose.

Page 24: Science Proves the Bible

8/2/2019 Science Proves the Bible

http://slidepdf.com/reader/full/science-proves-the-bible 24/54

Just one separate scheme or numeric design is convincing enough todemonstrate the divine inspiration of any passage, but when a person combinesall of these many separate systems of designs which run through each letter andword of a passage, the argument is simply staggering! Every letter and word isso intricately intertwined and interlocked by these different systems of designs

that is simply impossible to move a letter or word either to the right or to the leftwithout destroying the perfect patterns. The very order of every letter and word isdefinitely designed. Each letter and word has its own special place. Such perfectorder--such complex systems of designs with their astonishing precision andaccuracy, indeed could not have occurred accidentally. As an illustration, suppose that the sixty or sixty-five pieces of an alarm clock were placed in a box.One could shake that box year in and year out and those pieces would never goin their proper places accidentally. The perfect order and the complex numericsystems of the Bible cannot be attributed to chance, or even to human design--they can only be divine.

The Bible itself claims that divine inspiration extends not only to every sentenceand every word, but even to the smallest letter and the smallest mark. In Matthew5:17, 18, when Jesus said that not one "jot" or one "tittle" would pass from thelaw till all be fulfilled, He referred to the smallest letter (jot) and the smallest markor point (tittle), thus indicating that even they were inspired.

The numerical facts demonstrate that the words, syllables, letters, and evenevery jot and tittle are numbered and have their own special, divinely appointedplace in the text. God controlled the spelling of every word and the number of itsoccurrences in the various Bible books. The Bible is scientifically proved to bedivinely inspired, not in a loose or general way--not only in "thought," but in actual

word and letter. Christ's significant statement. "The Scripture cannot be broken"is proved to be true. Indeed God has protected and preserved His Word in awonderful manner!

The amazing numeric facts and designs are interwoven in the Bible-text in such apeculiar and marvelous manner that no power on earth can blot them out. Theyare woven into God's Word as a thread is woven in dollar bill to assure itsgenuineness. They are imprinted on the pages of Scripture as watermarks areimprinted in paper for verification and identification. They guard the Bible againsterrors and interpolations as the intricate designs on a bank note or check guardagainst counterfeits and interpolations. God has marked His Word in a marvelousmanner!

It has been demonstrated that the vast numerical structure of the Bible is asupernatural, divine work. While it is utterly impossible for human beings toconstruct a book on such a marvelous mathematical design, it is only the normalwork of God, the great Creator, Who has carefully placed--

NUMBERS IN ALL OF NATURE

The number system of god is stamped upon all His works. All departments of nature are based on a system of mathematics--great mathematical laws governthe activities of the entire universe.

For instance, in the sphere of light, there are exactly seven colors. The sevencolors merged together form light. In the sphere of music there are exactly sevenwhole tones in the scale, while every eighth note begins a new octave and ismerely a repetition of the first note. The seven colors correspond to the sevennotes in music, and sounds that harmonize correspond with colors thatharmonize, while discords in color correspond with discords in music.

The human body is completely renewed or changed every seven years. Everypart of the body is constantly throwing off old effete matter, and constantlyreceiving deposits of new and living matter. In seven years the whole structure is

altered down to the minutest particles and becomes essentially a new body. Incertain diseases, the seventh, fourteenth, and twenty-first are critical days. Man'spulse beats slower every seventh day whether he is sick or well. In diseasesresulting from physical exhaustion, the pulse changes every seventh day. Withthe human being, the period of gestation is 280 days (7 x 40). Indeed, seven isstamped upon physiology. Is it not significant that God ordained every seventhday to be a day of rest, and that He declared man's years to be "Three-score andten" (7 x 10)?

With animals, the period of gestation of the mouse is 21 (7 x 3) days. The hareand rat 28 (7 x 4) days. The cat 56 (7 x 8) days. The dog 63 (7 x 9) days. The

lion 98 (7 x 14) days. The sheep 147 (7 x 21) days. With birds, the incubation of the common hen is 21 (7 x 3) days. The duck 28 (7 x 4) days.

God's mathematical laws are at work in all departments of nature. The planets of the heavens are governed according to definite mathematical laws. Indeed, nature does not operate by chance, but by design. Volumes could be devoted toshowing design in all of God's creation.

"God made ... the stars ... and set them in the firmament of the heaven?--Gen.1:16-1;7. "He counteth the number of the stars."--Ps. 147:4 R.V. He "bringeth outtheir host by number."--Isa. 40:26. "God hath measured the waters in the hollow

of His hand, and meted out the heaven with a span, and comprehended the dustof the earth in a measure, and weighed the mountains in scales, and the hills in abalance."---Isa. 40:12.

If God placed the stars in their proper order, and numbered them and measuredthe waters and weighed the mountains, is it surprising or incredible that He hasplaced the words and letters of His book in exact order, and numbered them, andguided them into combinations of numbers?

The same God Who created the universe and was careful to weave designs andintricate patterns into the smallest detail of creation, has taken the same carewith His Word. He has placed the same peculiarity in both.

"The very hairs of your head are all numbered" (counted). Matt. 10:30. The word

"numbered" in Greek is "arithmeo," the very word from which our English word"Arithmetic" is derived. If God counts the very hairs of our heads, is it strange thatHe has counted the words and letters of His Scripture?

PART FIVE

How Do the Newly Discovered Facts Affect Us?

Think of it -- the newly discovered facts actually prove that the Bible is God'sinspired book! God has given us this convincing proof so that we might

acknowledge that the Bible is His own precious Word! Since the Bible is God'sWord, it is our DUTY and RESPONSIBILITY to know, believe, and obey theinstructions He has given us!

Let us turn to the Bible with an open mind and an open heart and see what God'smessage is. We find that the Bible gives a sad picture of the human race! It givesus a description of ourselves as we appear in our natural condition--it tells us justwhat we look like in God's sight! By nature we are sinners! "All have sinned, andcome short of the glory of God." (Rom. 3:23) By nature we are "(spiritually)dead." (Eph. 2:1) "(Spiritual) death passed upon all men, for all have sinned."(Rom. 5:12) By nature we are "guilty before God." (Rom. 3:19)--we are

"condemned already" (John 3:18)--we are "separated" and "far off" from God(Isa. 59:2, Eph. 2:13), and are in "darkness" (12 Pet. 2:9), "without Christ,"without "hope" (Eph. 2:12), and without "peace." (Isa. 48:22.) By nature all of usare hopeless and helpless sinners!

If this were the only message in the Bible it would be tragic indeed, butfortunately, God has another message--a message of "good news," for lost, needy humanity! God has provided a way of salvation! Christ, the Son of God,paid the debt of sin by His substitutionary death upon the cross. "While we wereyet sinners, Christ died for us." (Rom. 5:8) "His own self bare our sins in His ownbody on the tree (cross)." (1 Pet. 2:24.) Christ rose from the dead, ascended intoheaven, and is seated at the right hand of the throne of God. (Eph. 1:20.) Now allwho receive Him--all who believe on Him have spiritual life, instead of spiritualdeath. "He that hath the Son hath life; and he that hath not the Son hath not life."(1 John 5:12.) "He that believeth on the Son hath everlasting life: and he thatbelieveth not the Son shall not see life." (John 3:36.) If we receive Christ, webecome "children of God," and are "born of God." (John 1:12,13.)--our sins areforgiven (Eph. 1:7)--we are "not condemned" (John 3:18)--we are made "nigh"unto God (Eph. 2:13)--we are "in His marvelous light" (1 Pet. 2:9)--we have a

"blessed hope" (Tit. 2:13), and have "the peace of God, which passeth allunderstanding." (Phil. 4:7.) Our Lord "is able to save to the uttermost" (Heb.7:25), that is, He is able to save the greatest sinner--the one who is farthest fromGod! "Whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved." (Acts2:21.)

Christ is knocking at the door of your life even now! "Behold, I stand at the door and knock." (Rev. 3:20.) "What will ye do with Jesus?" (Matt. 27:22.) Will youRECEIVE Him (John 1:12), or will you REJECT Him? (John 12:48.) Your decision will determine your eternal destiny!

DR. IVAN PANIN

RUSSIA'S GIFT TO CHRISTIANITY

As we attempt to capture the essence of this remarkable man and his enormouscontribution to the cause of Christ, a sense of frustration is immediatelyencountered because of unyielding constraints the need for brevity forces uponus. Many books have been devoted to what we must condense, but weencourage the reader to further investigate the discoveries of Dr. Panin throughthat which has been written by him and about him. (Book list and orderinginformation available in the appendix)

Ivan Panin was born in Russia on December 12, 1855 and as a young man hewas an active Nihilist, one who was so "turned off" by the inane circumstancessurrounding him that he adopted the attitude that all values were worthless andnothing was knowable or communicable. He apparently detested the Czaristgovernment so much that he participated in various plots against it andeventually was forced into political exile. From there he moved to Germanywhere he spent a number of years furthering his education. When he leftGermany he immigrated to the United States and soon entered HarvardUniversity where he became the personal friend of both the famous professor William James and the University. s President Eliot.

Mr. Panin was a brilliant scholar and a Master of Literary Criticism. After graduating from college he became an outstanding lecturer on the subject of literary criticism and toured the country speaking on Carlyle, Emerson, Tolstoy,Russian literature, etc., receiving up "top dollar" for each address, which showsus the caliber of his talent. His lectures were delivered on college campuses andto exclusive literary clubs in many cities of the United States and Canada. Andduring those years of travel and exposure to the public, Mr. Panin became widely

Page 28: Science Proves the Bible

known as a confirmed agnostic, so well known, in fact, that when he renouncedagnosticism and embraced Jesus Christ, several newspapers carried banner headlines announcing his conversion! Upon hearing of this remarkable turn of events, Professor James, who was reputed to be the greatest Metaphysician of his day remarked, "What a pity that Mr. Panin is cracked on religion. A great

philosopher was spoiled in him."

Prior to his life-changing encounter with Jesus Christ, Mr. Panin wrote somethree thousand aphorisms (brief statements of principle) and many outstandingessays, which stand today as a memorial to his days as a Master of LiteraryCriticism. He also was an editor of two daily newspapers, a gifted writer, and aneloquent speaker.

What event made this brilliant and gifted man, one firmly convinced that absolutetruth ("God") was unknowable, change his mind? What so challenged his intellectand shook him to the very core of his being that he was left with no alternative

but belief in Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior? The answer is this: He madeTHE SCIENTIFIC DISCOVERY THAT SHOULD HAVE SHAKEN THE ENTIREWORLD! (The fact that it has not yet done so and has been quietly disregardedby those who should have been its greatest advocates is one of the greatmysteries of our time!)

One day in 1890, Mr. Panin was casually reading the first verse of the Gospel of John in the original Koine Greek. This verse, in the original, says: "In thebeginning was the Word, and the Word was with the God, and the Word wasGod." And as he read this sentence, his curiosity was stirred by the fact that thedefinite article "the" preceded "God" in the first instance, but not the second. Why

the difference? To analyze this apparent discrepancy, he made a parallel list of all verses in the New Testament in which the word "God" occurs with the article"the" and all those without it. Then when he compared the two lists he noted thatthere was a mathematical relationship between the two sums. Next, he wentthrough the same procedure for the word "Christ" and on through several other words. each time taking note of the amazing numeric relationships hiddenbeneath the surface of the text. This "chance" observation would later prove tohave been a life-changing event as Ivan Panin enthusiastically pursued thenewly-found and exciting discovery he later named "Bible Numerics."

As these discoveries began to unfold, one after another, Mr. Panin quickly cameto the realization that they were far more than just coincidence. There was amathematical precision inherent to the entire Bible that no mere mortal couldhave devised and his intellectual objections relative to an unknowable God wereoverruled! Jesus Christ revealed Himself through His Word to this "chosenvessel" and, like the apostle Paul and a host of others, Ivan Panin was never thesame man again.

Page 29: Science Proves the Bible

8/2/2019 Science Proves the Bible

http://slidepdf.com/reader/full/science-proves-the-bible 29/54

From that day in 1890 until he died on October 30, 1942, Ivan Panin literallydevoted his life (over 50 years) to fully developing this discovery and preserving itfor the world. It is said of him that he worked tirelessly for 12-18 hours each daycounting letters and words, compiling hand-written concordances, and workingout mathematical problems. He worked with such zeal that on several occasions

his health completely failed. But in spite of the tremendous mental and physicalstrain this placed upon him, he labored without pay, giving himself entirely to thislabor of love. At one point he was offered the very tempting position as presidentof a college, but he turned it down trusting God to provide for his needs. Thisman whom the world would gladly pay "top dollar" for a lecture, chose a life of frugality in order to serve his Master by counting words, letters, syllables, andBible numbers, preserving his findings in neat, hand-written notes now yellowedwith age, all 40,000+ pages of them!

The following is a description of Dr. Panin by Mr. Karl Sabiers, in his book"Mathematics Prove Holy Scriptures." It was originally published in 1941, while

Mr. Panin was still alive:

"This distinguished person is a man of extra-ordinary resources in scholarship. He is keen-minded and alert and possesses amazing analytical and dissectingability. He is eminently open and scientific. He assumes nothing, but bases all onobserved facts. facts of a positive, irrefutable, unparalleled sort. He pursues hisway with calmness and is positive of the ground he covers. He is a completemaster of himself and of the facts at his command.

"Mr. Panin is an ardent and devout Christian. a 'born again' child of God. Hispleasing personality radiates the abiding presence of the Christ within. This

refined gentleman and his lovely wife live quiet, humble lives on a smallCanadian farm, far removed from the busy city activities. Mr. Panin is verymodest and conservative. He prefers to be called Mr. Panin rather than Dr.Panin, and is reluctant about publicizing facts concerning his own life story. Hepoints out that the Apostles left little or no life stories of themselves, but exaltedChrist instead. Incidentally, Mr. Panin is a citizen of the United States."

GETTING STARTED

In order to gain a proper understanding of the enormity of Dr. Panin's work, wemust realize that he "started from scratch," so to speak. The mathematicalprecision required of his labors necessitated reference works that for all intentsand purposes were non-existent! The first thing he had to do was compile alibrary of "tools" with which to work and he had to make them himself. Try toimagine, if you can, the extreme difficulty that Dr. James Strong encountered incompiling his "Exhaustive Concordance of the Bible," where each and everyword of consequence in the entire Bible was carefully noted, recorded, collated, etc., while corresponding Hebrew and Greek definitions (with assigned numbers)were given as well.

Page 30: Science Proves the Bible

8/2/2019 Science Proves the Bible

http://slidepdf.com/reader/full/science-proves-the-bible 30/54

Yet, this Herculean task does not measure up to that task which confronted Dr.Panin! He had to compile his own unique concordance before he could beginwork! Not only did the words of the original Greek texts have to be arranged intoa systematic and workable concordance, but a very special concordance at thatone in which each letter of the respective language was meticulously recorded,

along with its numerical equivalent. The Hebrew and Greek cultures did not havea separate alphabet and numbering system as we do today. Their alphabet wasalso their numbering system each letter having a corresponding number associated with it. So their calculations were actually manipulations of the variousletters of the alphabet. (We will not attempt to give illustrations of thesealphabets, or tables reflecting their respective values, deferring instead to thevarious authors' books which list them.)

Additionally, vocabularies and other Bible analyses had to be compiled with aspecial view to absolute accuracy, down to the smallest detail. The first resultwas a thousand-page concordance listing every one of the 137,903 occurrences

of the New Testament Koine Greek words. They are all in alphabetical order andevery reference to chapter and verse is neatly listed beneath each word in hand-written entries. The reason this was made necessary was the fact that the verybest Greek concordances in print at that time were just too inaccurate for Dr.Panin' s purposes! Next, Dr. Panin felt the need for a concordance listing all of the various forms of the Greek words, so he created another concordance of 2000 pages twice as large as the first! Six years of tedious and time-consuminglabor were required for these two "tools."

After that, other books containing the vocabulary words of the Greek NewTestament were also compiled, in which each word was listed along with 16

columns of numeric data related to that word. Four columns containing the order number, place value, numeric value, etc. precede each word. Behind each wordare 12 columns containing the number of occurrences, number of forms, syllables, letters, writers, books, diphthongs, etc. The completion of thevocabulary required an additional two years. But through all of the years of tedious and mentally taxing labor, Dr. Panin was not the only one who did notreceive a salary. All of the secretarial assistance he received was donevoluntarily as well.

The result of this lifetime of effort was a "NUMERIC GREEK NEW TESTAMENT"and a "NUMERIC ENGLISH NEW TESTAMENT", both of which arecommendable and scholarly pieces of work. The concise text of both testamentswere established by means of the numeric designs discovered by Dr. Panin, designs that completely and literally permeate the whole of Scripture.

THE STORY OF THE TWO TESTAMENTS

At this point we probably need to explain why this would have been deemednecessary in the first place. And why just the New Testament? Wouldn't the Old

Page 31: Science Proves the Bible

8/2/2019 Science Proves the Bible

http://slidepdf.com/reader/full/science-proves-the-bible 31/54

Testament require this same type of revision as well? Let's answer the questionabout the Old Testament first. The Old Testament Scriptures were given by Godthrough the pens of various men chosen by Him and were confined to the nationof Israel. The copying and transmission of these writings were handled, for themost part, by religious professionals and done under the most rigorous rules

imaginable. Each line and each page had a numerical equivalent attached to it,the sum of the individual letters, and absolutely no mistakes were tolerated. If, for any reason a single line or page did not "add up" properly, it was discarded andburned. The task was approached with the greatest of reverence and it has beensaid that if the scribe encountered any of the numerous names of God, he wouldput down his pen, take a bath, change clothes, get a new quill pen and then veryreverently write down the name. If the name of God came up in the same verse,he would go through the whole procedure again! With such scrupulous andmeticulous care taken by professional scribes, we can see how the OldTestament was passed down to us with only a very few, and relatively minor, errors.

However, the New Testament is another matter entirely. Most of the originalmanuscripts were sent as letters to various individuals and churches, wherecopies were often made and passed on to others. Those who wished to havecopies for their own use, either paid semi-professional copyists to do it, or oftendid it themselves. Little care was taken to maintain strict accuracy and manytimes just the kernel of the information was recorded. Persecution of Christianswas commonplace and therefore any copying done had to be done quickly. Some copies were the result of personal recollection being written down, whileothers were made from the recitations of those who had heard the words spokenby a preacher. Because of this desire for and love of the Word, over a period of

time quite a hodge-podge of manuscripts were floating around the Christianworld. And at some point along the way, the original "autographs" the actualdocuments penned by the apostles and others were lost entirely. This wasobviously God's intent, because depraved men would doubtless have given aninordinate amount of attention to them (bordering on worship)! They would haveworshipped a version of the Bible, rather than the Creator!

To determine the exact wording of the originals, their chronology, and even if they were Scripture or not, educated and godly men had to compare theavailable texts with each other and against the Old Testament Scriptures quotedby them, to determine authenticity as well as accuracy of text. They did such awonderful job, that over the years the New Testament Scriptures were settledwith a very high degree of confidence and no doctrine left in doubt. Yet, thescholars still could not come to 100% agreement and a few relatively minor places in the Old Testament were debatable. To a certain degree this problemstill exists today, but according to the findings of Dr. Panin, all question has beenremoved and the bickering should cease immediately! The whole of Scripture, down to the last "jot and tittle" has been determined through Bible numerics andas it turns out, precious little needed to be changed anyway! What is so amazing

Page 32: Science Proves the Bible

8/2/2019 Science Proves the Bible

http://slidepdf.com/reader/full/science-proves-the-bible 32/54

is that this final determining factor was published nearly sixty years ago, butProtestant leadership have ignored it. Yes, I know that "the powers that be areordained of God" and God can certainly open their eyes any time He chooses todo so. Perhaps this is the time?

What is the so-called "heptadic" structure that Dr. Panin discovered? Simplystated it is this: genuine Scripture, both Hebrew and Greek. where the numbersequivalent with the letters are added up properly. at some point: word, sentence, paragraph, or chapter, will always be divisible by the number seven! And, beyondthis, utilization of "place numbers" determines punctuation as well as proper chronology of the various books. This mathematical phenomena occurs andreoccurs only in Holy Scripture and thus rules out all that is spurious. For instance, the "Apocrypha", the fourteen books written during the 400 year "inter-testament" period between Malachi of the Old Testament and Matthew of theNew, have no numerics whatsoever and are thereby revealed as being merely of man. Numerous Greek classical writings have also been checked with no

evidence of Bible numerics found. Thus Dr. Panin determined that Scripture andonly Scripture has this numeric "signature of Divinity" within it.

RE-ISSUING PANIN'S CHALLENGE

To his credit, Dr. Panin actively sought men whose academic credentials wouldqualify them to serve as his critics, but few even bothered to respond and thosewho did offered no rebuttal whatever. To this day, no one has come forward withany substantive rebuttal arguments and if any were possible, we feel that Satanwould have rolled them out long before now! For that reason we are constrainedto re-issue the challenge made by Dr. Panin three quarters of a century ago. The

importance of this subject dictates that it should be totally acknowledged by theChristian academic community or else conclusively proven false and discarded. If it is valid, (and we believe that it is) to continue to ignore it would be unthinkablebecause the harmful division now taking place in the body of Christ over textualissues has gone on entirely too long.

WESTCOTT AND HORT -- OCCULTISTS

Interestingly enough, one of the main issues that keeps on surfacing in the"Which Bible is Scripture" debacle centers on the persons of Wescott and Hort.the nineteenth century mystical editors of the Greek text that provides thefoundation for what some are calling the "modern perversions of the Bible".

About these men's work, Dr. Panin had nothing but praise! Here is what he hadto say about the value of their work:

"Without the aid of Wescott and Hort I could not have really done my work, because the text of the Authorized Version from my point of view -- not from thepoint of view of salvation or doctrine even, but from the textual point of view -- thetext of the Authorized Version was useless to me, and for this reason: it has too

Page 33: Science Proves the Bible

8/2/2019 Science Proves the Bible

http://slidepdf.com/reader/full/science-proves-the-bible 33/54

many inaccuracies for my special purpose. Erasmus, for example, who was theEditor of the first Greek text in print was very anxious to get ahead of the RomanCatholic scholars who were issuing a Bible of their own; and he was in such ahurry that he used one MS. [manuscript] for the Book of Revelation and the lastpage of Revelation was missing in that MS. So what do you suppose Erasmus

did? He simply concocted his own Greek for that page; he took the Latin Vulgateand translated it into his own Greek! So that the last page of the AuthorizedVersion is a translation of Erasmus into Greek of a Latin inaccurate translationitself! Now, you and I wish to have an inspired page of the Bible, not one man'smere guessage. The Received Text has a great many suspicious readings of thatkind. They do not affect doctrine or conduct seriously, because the great blessingof the Word of God is like the Lord Himself. if you only touch the hem of Hisgarment, you can be made whole. God has seen to it that His blessed Book, nomatter how distorted it is in any language sometimes the missionaries are at their wits end to know how to translate the word "God" nevertheless, the Word of Godis so full of spiritual power, that if we only get the fringe of it to them, those dear

heathen can be converted by it. But you and I wish to have the last page of Revelation as it was truly the inspired Word of God. Wescott and Hort based alltheir work largely on the Vatican and Sinai MSS., and decided that wherever thetwo MSS. agreed, that should generally settle the reading. Well, you know, therehas been some doubt cast upon the Sinai MSS., because a very shrewd Greekcopied a great many MSS. and tried to foist his own MSS. on the folk, so that hasleft a cloud on the Sinai MSS., and some people see fit to cast doubt on it evennow, when there is the question as to whether the British Government did wiselyto take part in its acquisition ... I have analyzed the Greek words for the Sinai andVatican Codexes. I have here page after page of the numerics of those words inGreek. Whenever we wish to study numerics relating to our own affairs or life or anything else, we must always remember that the language in which God wishesus to count is Greek, because He left the name of the anti-christ in Greek. Youand I will have to stand the test when anti-christ comes. The Holy Spirit has givenus warning. "Be sure not to receive this mark of the beast upon you," because itwill be the number of the beast upon ourselves. The Holy Spirit warns us that heis 666, that is, in Greek. You and I have to go to numerics in Greek  when wewish to prove the correctness of a passage. The three words show strikingnumerics. There is a system there of sevens and nines at once on theblackboard. I have here page after page of the numerics of those three words. The Sinai Codex has a separate scheme of its own and the Vatican Codex has aseparate scheme of its own."

"That is how God has set His seal on His book; so that by the aid of the textpresented to us by Wescott and Hort, I was able to verify everything they stated, and verify all the doubtful readings, so that those two great MSS. can beestablished in such a way that no one can attack their authenticity. This is thetestimony of numerics as to any aspersion on the Sinai Codex."

Page 34: Science Proves the Bible

8/2/2019 Science Proves the Bible

http://slidepdf.com/reader/full/science-proves-the-bible 34/54

"My prayer is simply this. That God may make that blessed Book of His asprecious to you as He has made it to me. It has been an inexpressible joy in mylife to work these things out, simply because of the testimony of the majesty andthe marvel of the loving-kindness of God vouchsafed in this Book unto our charge. Pray for me, and may the Lord bless you." (Ivan Panin, "Bible Numerics",

pp.25-27, emphasis in the original).

From these statements made by Dr. Panin himself, he expresses anindebtedness to Messrs. Wescott and Hort for their work in editing a Greek textthat, for the most part, stands up to the test of Bible numerics. However guiltythese two men may have been in their involvement with the occult thatinvolvement should not in and of itself mean that the Greek texts they editedwere thus rendered unacceptable. "The proof of the pudding is in the eating" andDr. Panin testifies that their work stands the numeric test! A diamond is still adiamond even if it is found in a mud-hole.

(Editors note: The "King James only" people have tried to paint these lovers of the scripture as occultists. I have not seen proof, only slander and quoting of oneanother in their books. Anyone who has ever done a true work for God has beenaccused by the wicked traditionalists. Jesus and his apostles were. Those whoaccuse without two or three witnesses disobey God and take up a reproachagainst the brethren. Numerics proves the work of Westcott and Hort and theancient manuscripts that they used as anyone who is honest and not prejudicedby traditions can clearly see.)

 BACK TO BIBLICAL NUMERICS

To demonstrate the validity of Bible Numerics, to illustrate its worth where textualmatters are concerned, and to whet the reader’s appetite for a more thoroughstudy of this fascinating subject, we offer the following excerpts from selectedpublications:

"Below are the Hebrew words of the very first verse in the Bible. The words aretaken from their line position and placed in a column so that the "numeric value"of each word may be more easily shown. (The actual Hebrew characters areshown in the original)

NUMERIC VALUE

1. In the beginning

1. Created

1. God

Page 35: Science Proves the Bible

http://slidepdf.com/reader/full/science-proves-the-bible 35/54

1. (An indefinite article which is not translatable)

1. The heavens

1. And (with indefinite article)

1. The earth

There are three important nouns in this first verse God, heaven, and earth. Thenumeric values of these three nouns are 86, 395, 296, respectively. When thesethree numeric values are added, the total value [777] is found to be a number which divides perfectly by 7 a number which is a multiple of 7, which is 111 7 s.In God's thinking, this Triple Intensification of His perfect number, 7, is thestrongest possible manner of speaking.

Is it not strange that the numeric value of these words is a value which divides

perfectly by seven a value which is an exact multiple of seven? Notice that thenumeric value of the words is not 776 or 778, but exactly 777. If the numericvalue were 776 or 778 it would not divide evenly by 7.

Here the number seven occurs in a strange manner beneath the surface, beyondthe view of those who merely read the words or surface of the Hebrew text. It ismysteriously hidden in the numeric value of the three words and is passed byunnoticed unless it is discovered by special investigation and special counting.

Each numerical fact or seven discovered in the structure of the text is calleda feature a numeric feature. This, then, is feature one. It is repeated below to

place it in a list with other numeric features that have been discovered beneaththe surface of the first verse in the Old Testament.

FEATURE ONE

The numeric value of the three important Hebrew nouns, God, heaven, earth, isexactly 777 or 111 7 s

FEATURE TWO

It is strange to note that the numeric value of the verb in the first verse of

Genesis is also a number which divides perfectly by 7 a number which is anexact multiple of 7. The numeric value of the Hebrew verb created is exactly 203or 29 7 s

FEATURE THREE

Page 36: Science Proves the Bible

8/2/2019 Science Proves the Bible

http://slidepdf.com/reader/full/science-proves-the-bible 36/54

Strange to say, the numeric value of the first, middle, and last Hebrew letters inthis first verse is also a number which divides evenly by 7. The numeric value of these three letters is exactly 133 or 19 7 s

FEATURE FOUR

The numeric value of the first and last letters of all of the seven Hebrew words inthis verse is also a number which divides perfectly by 7. Their numeric value isexactly 1393 or 199 7 s (Notice the numeric value is not 1392 or 1394 but 1393,always a number which is an exact multiple of 7)

FEATURE FIVE

The number 1393, which is the numeric value of the first and last Hebrew lettersof all the seven words, divides in the following manner. The numeric value of thefirst and last letters of the first word and the last word is a number which divides

evenly by 7. Their numeric value is exactly 497 or 71 7 s

The numeric value of the first and last letters of the words remaining between thefirst and last words also divides perfectly by 7. Their numeric value is 896 or 1287 s

(497 plus 896 equals 1393)

FEATURE SIX

The Hebrew participle ETH which is not translatable into English, occurs twice in

the sentence of seven words. The article the also occurs twice. The numericvalue of these two words which occur twice also divides by 7. Their numericvalue is exactly 406 or 58 7 s.

FEATURE SEVEN

The last letters of the first and last words have a numeric value of exactly 490 or 70 7 s

These numeric facts or sevens are, indeed, beyond the view of mere readers of the Hebrew text. They are truly mysteriously hidden beneath the surface and can

be discovered only by special searching and calculations.

The above features were discovered in the numeric values of the Hebrew lettersand words. However, the number seven is also concealed in various other waysin the structure of this first Bible verse. Examples are given below.

FEATURE EIGHT

It is indeed strange to note that the number of Hebrew words in this verse is not6, not 8, but exactly 7.

FEATURE NINE

The total number of Hebrew letters in these seven words also divides perfectly byseven is an exact multiple of 7. The number of letters is exactly 28 or 4 7 s

FEATURE TEN

The first three of these seven Hebrew words contain the subject and predicate of the sentence. These three words are translated In the beginning God created. The number of actual letters in these first three Hebrew words is exactly 14 or 2 7s

The last four of these seven words contain the object of the sentence. These

fours words are translated the heavens and the earth. The number of letters inthese last four Hebrew words is 14 or 2 7 s

FEATURE ELEVEN

These last four Hebrew words consist of two objects. The first is the heavens, and the second is and the earth. The number of letters in the first object isexactly 7.

The number of letters in the second object in the Hebrew is 7

FEATURE TWELVE

The three leading words in this verse of seven words are God the subjectand heavens and earth the objects. The number of letters in these three Hebrewwords is exactly 14 or 2 7 s

The number of letters in the other four words of the verse is 14 or 2 7 s

FEATURE THIRTEEN

The shortest word is in the middle. The number of letters in this word and the

word to its left is exactly 7

FEATURE FOURTEEN

The number of letters in the middle word and the word to its right is exactly 7

These sevens these numeric features or facts are strangely hidden beneath thesurface. They are truly beyond the view of ordinary readers of the Hebrew textand are discovered only by special investigation and counting.

The above are only a few examples of the many amazing numeric facts which

have been discovered in the structure of this first verse of only seven Hebrewwords. Literally dozens of other phenomenal numeric features strangely underliethe structure of this verse&." ("Mathematics Prove Holy Scriptures", Karl Sabiers, reprinted 1969, pp.21-27)

ISAIAH 9:3

"The American Revised Version (Later called the American Standard Version)follows certain manuscripts and gives the translation of the verse as follows:

"Thou hast multiplied the nations; thou hast increased their joy."

The Authorized or King James Version follows other manuscripts and translatesthe verse in the following manner:

"Thou has multiplied the nations, and not increased their joy."

The American Revised Version tells that God has increased their joy, while theKing James Version says that God has not increased their joy a differencebetween yes and no. Which reading is correct?

In the Hebrew manuscript copies this is the difference of only one letter.

The newly discovered facts definitely settle this question (written in 1941). TheHebrew text of this passage -- which the Revised Version uses -- shows anelaborate design of numeric features. If even one letter of the verse is changed toanother the entire numeric design fails. The Hebrew text of the passage fromwhich the King James Version is translated shows no numerical design. ThusBible Numerics proves that the very structure of the passage definitely settles thequestion of the correct reading. They prove that the Revised Version gives thecorrect reading. God did increase their joy!

Some may think a question of this nature does not make much difference any

way. They may feel that it is not a matter of great importance. But, suppose thequestion had been about the statement, He that believeth on the Son hath lifeor He that believeth on the Son hath not life. This would have been a question of the utmost importance.

The following is an example of a disputed reading from the New Testament.

1 CORINTHIANS CHAPTER 13, VERSE 3

Page 39: Science Proves the Bible

8/2/2019 Science Proves the Bible

http://slidepdf.com/reader/full/science-proves-the-bible 39/54

The amazing numerical design in the structure of the text also settles the correctreading of this disputed passage.

The Revised Version follows certain Greek manuscript copies and gives thetranslation of one particular phrase of the verse as follows:

if I give my body to be burned

Wescott and Hort, in their Greek New Testament, follow other manuscripts andrender the disputed portion differently. Instead of if I give my body to be burned, they use if I give my body so that I may glory.

In the Greek this is a difference of only one letter. Which is the correct reading?

Bible Numerics, in a marvelous manner, settles this question. The Greek text of the passage rendered by Wescott and Hort shows a beautiful and elaborate

design of amazing numerical features. If even one letter is changed to another, the entire numeric scheme fails. But the Greek text of the passage from whichthe Revised Version is translated shows no numeric design. The newlydiscovered facts thus prove that Wescott and Hort give the correct reading of thepassage.

WHAT IS THE LAST WORD OF THE BIBLE?

The Authorized or King James Version follows certain Greek manuscripts andgives the word Amen as the last word in the Bible. The Revised Version likewiseconcludes the Bible with this word. The Revisers do not even intimate that some

authorities omit the word. Wescott and Hort, in their Greek New Testament, follow other Greek manuscripts and conclude the Testament with theword saints.

The amazing design of numeric features or facts discovered in the structure of the Greek text used by Wescott and Hort definitely settles the questionconcerning the correct reading of the last verse in the Bible. The numerical factsprove that they are right in ending the New Testament with the word saints."("Mathematics Prove Holy Scriptures", Karl Sabiers, latest reprint 1969, pp.91-94)

We are so amazed by the effectiveness of Bible Numerics in proving, or disproving, all textual question that we can only marvel that every Christiancollege and university does not include a full line of study on this subject.Certainly, no one has stepped forward to challenge Panin's conclusions, either Christian or secular.

Panin proves that God is a master mathematician, just as we knew had to be tocreate and to maintain, this universe. But, we find it to be a special thrill, to know

Page 40: Science Proves the Bible

that the Bible itself is created by the same type of numerics by which theuniverse is created. Truly, we can stand upon God's Word as an anchor of thesoul.

The Inspiration of the Scriptures Scientifically Demonstrated

Letter to the New York Sun - By Ivan Panin

For some months proceeding Sunday, November 19, 1899 the New York Sun

had been devoting the better part of a page of its Sunday edition to thediscussion of the truth of Christianity. On that date it printed a letter from oneW.R.L., in which he denounced Christianity, using the old oft-refuted"arguments," and challenged "some champion of orthodoxy to come into thearena of the Sun," and give its readers some "facts" in defense of the Christianreligion. The writer had not seen the N.Y. Sun for years; but on his way fromSouth Framingham to Grafton, Massachusetts, a copy of the Sun of that date, lefton a vacant seat in the train, 'fell into his hands.' The following letter met thatchallenge.

The letter was reprinted by the writer himself in a pamphlet of some fifty pages

with the Greek text of Matthew i, 1-17 and the vocabularies thereto, enabling thescholarly reader to verify his statements for himself.

Sir: - In to-day's Sun Mr. W.R.L. calls for a "champion of orthodoxy" to "step intothe arena of the Sun;' and give him some "facts." Here are some facts:

The first 17 verses of the New Testament contain the genealogy of the Christ. Itconsists of two main parts: Verses 1-11 cover the period from Abraham, thefather of the chosen people, to the Captivity, when they ceased as anindependent people. Verses 12-17 cover the period from the Captivity to thepromised Deliverer, the Christ.

Let us examine the first part of this genealogy.

Its vocabulary has 49 words, or 7 x 7. This number is itself seven (Feature 1)sevens (Feature 2), and the sum of its factors is 2 sevens (Feature 3). Of these49 words 28, or 4 sevens, begin with a vowel; and 21, or 3 sevens, begin with aconsonant (Feature 4).

Page 41: Science Proves the Bible

8/2/2019 Science Proves the Bible

http://slidepdf.com/reader/full/science-proves-the-bible 41/54

Again: these 49 words of the vocabulary have 266 letters, or 7 x 2 x 19; thisnumber is itself 38 sevens (Feature 5), and the sum of its factors is 28, or 4sevens (Feature 6), while the sum of its figures is 14, or 2 sevens (Feature 7). Of these 266 letters, moreover, 140, or 20 sevens, are vowels, and 126, or 18sevens, are consonants (Feature 8).

That is to say: Just as the number of words in the vocabulary is a multiple of seven, so is the number of its letters a multiple of seven; just as the sum of thefactors of the number of the words is a multiple of seven, so is the sum of thefactors of the number of their letters a multiple of seven. And just as the number of words is divided between vowel words and consonant words by sevens, so istheir number of letters divided between vowels and consonants by sevens.

Again: Of these 49 words 35, or 5 sevens, occur more than once in the passage;and 14, or 2 sevens, occur but once (Feature 9); seven occur in more than oneform, and 42, or 6 sevens, occur in only one form (Feature 10). And among the

parts of speech the 49 words are thus divided: 42, or 6 sevens, are nouns, sevenare not nouns (Feature 12). Of the nouns 35 or 5 sevens, are Proper names, seven are common nouns (Feature 12). Of the Proper names 28 are maleancestors of the Christ, and seven are not (Feature 13).

Moreover, these 49 words are distributed alphabetically thus: Words under A-Eare 21 in number, or 3 sevens; Z-K 14, or 2 sevens; M-X also 14. No other groups of sevens stopping at the end of a letter are made by these 49 words, thegroups of sevens stop with these letters and no others. But the letters A, E, Z, K,M, X, are letters 1, 5, 6, 10, 12, 22, of the Greek alphabet, and the sum of thesenumbers (called their Place Values) is 56, or 8 sevens (Feature 14).

This enumeration of the numeric phenomena of these 11 verses does not beginto be exhaustive, but enough has been shown to make it clear that this part of the genealogy is constructed on an elaborate design of sevens.

Let us not turn to the genealogy as a whole. I will not weary your readers withrecounting all the numeric phenomena thereof: pages alone would exhaust them.I will point out only one feature: The New Testament is written in Greek. TheGreeks had no separate symbols for expressing numbers, corresponding to our

Arabic figures, but used instead the letters of their alphabet: just as the Hebrews,in whose language the Old Testament is written, made use for the same purposeof theirs.

 Accordingly, the 24 Greek letters stand for the following numbers: 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 7,8, 9, 10, 20, 30, 40, 50, 60, 70, 80, 100, 200, 300, 400, 500, 600, 700, 800. EveryGreek word is thus a sum in arithmetic obtained by adding the numbers for whichits letters stand, or their numeric values. Now the vocabulary to the entiregenealogy has 72 words.

Page 42: Science Proves the Bible

8/2/2019 Science Proves the Bible

http://slidepdf.com/reader/full/science-proves-the-bible 42/54

If we write its numeric value over each of these 72 words, and add them, we getfor their sum 42,364, or 6,052 sevens, distributed into the following alphabeticalgroups only: A-B, have 9.821, or 1,403 sevens: G-D, 1904, or 272 sevens; 3,703,or 529 sevens; TH-R, 19,264, or 2,752 sevens; A-X 7,672, or 1,096 sevens. Butthe numeric value of the 10 letters used for making these groups is 931, or 7 x 7

x 19, a multiple not only of seven but of seven sevens.

Let Mr. W.R.L. try to write some 300 words intelligently like this genealogy, andreproduce some numeric phenomena of like designs. If he does it in 6 months,he will indeed do a wonder. Let us assume that Matthew accomplished this featin one month.

2. The second part of this chapter, verses 18-25, relates the birth of Christ. Itconsists of 161 words, or 23 sevens; occurring in 105 forms, or 15 sevens, with avocabulary of 77 words or 11 sevens. Joseph is spoken to here by the angel.

Accordingly, of the 77 words the angel uses 28, or 4 sevens; of the 105 forms he

uses 35, or 5 sevens; the numeric value of the vocabulary is 52,605, or 7,515sevens; of the forms, 65,429, or 9,347 sevens.

This enumeration only begins as it were to barely scratch the surface of thenumerics of this passage. But what is especially noteworthy here is the fact thatthe angel's speech has also a scheme of sevens making it a kind of ring within aring, a wheel within a wheel. If Mr. L. can write a similar passage of 161 wordswith the same scheme of sevens alone (though there are several others here) insome three years, he would accomplish a still greater wonder. Let us assumeMatthew accomplished this feat in only 6 months.

3. The second chapter of Matthew tells of the childhood of the Christ. Itsvocabulary has 161 words, or 23 sevens, with 896 letters, or 128 sevens, and238 forms, or 34 sevens; the numeric value of the vocabulary is 123,529, or 17,647 sevens; of the forms, 166,985, or 23,855 sevens; and so on throughpages of enumeration. This chapter has at least four logical divisions, and eachdivision shows alone the same phenomena found in the chapter as a whole. Thus the first six verses have a vocabulary of 56 words, or 8 sevens, etc. Thereare some speeches here: Herod speaks, the Magi speak, the angel speaks. Butso pronounced are the numeric phenomena here, that though there are as itwere numerous rings within rings, and wheels within wheels, each is perfect initself, though forming all the while only part of the rest.

If Mr. L. can write a chapter like this as naturally as Matthew writes, butcontaining in some 500 words so many intertwined yet harmonious numericfeatures, in say the rest of his days - whatever his age now, or the one to whichhe is to attain: if he thus accomplish it at all, it will indeed be marvel of marvels.Let us assume that Matthew accomplished this feat in only 3 years.

Page 43: Science Proves the Bible

http://slidepdf.com/reader/full/science-proves-the-bible 43/54

4. There is not, however, a single paragraph of the scores in Matthew that is notconstructed in exactly the same manner. Only with each additional paragraph thedifficulty of constructing it increases not in arithmetical but in geometricalprogression. For he contrives to write numeric relations to what goes before andafter. Thus in his last chapter he contrives to use just 7 words not used by him

before.

It would thus be easy to show that Mr. L. would require some centuries to write abook like Matthew's. How long it took Matthew the writer does not know. But howhe contrived to do it between the Crucifixion, A.D.30 (and his Gospel could nothave been written earlier), and the destruction of Jerusalem, A.D.70 (and theGospel could not have been written later), let Mr. L. and his like-minded explain.

Anyhow Matthew did it, and we thus have a miracle - an unheard-of literary, mathematical artist, unequaled, hardly even conceivable. This is the first fact for Mr. L. to contemplate.

A second fact is yet more important: In his very first section, the genealogydiscussed above, the words found nowhere else in the New Testament, occur 42times, 7 x 6; and have 126 letters, 7 x 6 x 3, each number a multiple not only of seven, but of 6 sevens, to name only two of the many numeric features of thesewords.

But how did Matthew know, when designing this scheme for these words (whosesole characteristic is that they are found nowhere else in the New Testament)that they would not be found in the other 26 books? that they would not be usedby the other 7 New Testament writers? Unless we assume the impossible

hypothesis that he had an agreement with them to that effect, he must have hadthe rest of the New Testament before him when he wrote his book. The Gospelof Matthew, then, was written last.

5. It so happens, however, that the Gospel of Mark shows the very samephenomena. Thus the very passage called so triumphantly in today's Sun a"forgery," the Last Twelve Verses of Mark, presents among some sixty featuresof sevens the following phenomena: It has 175 words, or 95 sevens; avocabulary of 98 words, or 2 sevens of sevens with 553 letters, or 79 sevens;133 forms, or 19 sevens, and so on to the minutest detail.

Mark, then, is another miracle, another unparalleled literary genius. And in thesame way in which it was shown that Matthew wrote last it is also shown thatMark, too, wrote last. Thus to take an example from this very passage: It has justone word found nowhere else in the New Testament, 'deadly'. This fact issignaled by no less than seven features of sevens thus: Its numeric value is 581,or 83 sevens, with the sum of its figures 14, or 2 sevens, of which the letters 3, 5,7, from both the BEGINNING and END of the word have 490, or 7 x 7 x 5 x 2: amultiple of seven sevens, with the sum of its factors 21, or 3 sevens.

Page 44: Science Proves the Bible

8/2/2019 Science Proves the Bible

http://slidepdf.com/reader/full/science-proves-the-bible 44/54

In the vocabulary it is preceded by 42 words, 7 x 6; in the passage itself by 126words, or 7 x 6 x 3, both numbers multiples not only of seven, but of 6 sevens. We have thus established before us this third fact for Mr. L. to contemplate:Matthew surely wrote after Mark, and Mark just as surely wrote after Matthew.

6. It happens, however, to be a fourth fact, that Luke presents the samephenomena as Matthew and Mark; and so does John, and James, and Peter, and Jude, and Paul. And we have thus no longer two great unheard-of mathematical literati, but eight of them and each wrote after the other.

7. And not only this: As Luke and Peter wrote each 2 books, John 5, and Paul 14,it can in the same way be shown that each of the 27 New Testament books waswritten last. In fact, not a page of the over 500 in Westcott and Hort's Greekedition (which the writer has used throughout) but it can be demonstrated thus tohave been written last.

The phenomena are there and there is no human way of explaining them. Eightmen cannot each write last, 97 books, some 500 pages cannot each be writtenfirst. But once assume that one Mind directed the whole, and the problem issolved simply enough; but this is Verbal Inspiration - of every jot and tittle of theNew Testament.

There remains only to be added that by precisely the same kind of evidence theHebrew Old Testament is proved to be equally inspired. Thus the very first verseof Genesis has seven words, 28 letters, or 4 sevens: to name only two out of thedozens of numeric features of this one verse of only seven words. - N.Y. Sun,Nov. 21, 1899 - Corrected.

To this letter several replies appeared in the Sun, but not a single answer. For inonly three ways can it be refuted.

(a) By showing that the facts are not as here given.

(b) By showing that it is possible for 8 men to write each after the other 7; for 27books, for some 500 pages to be each in its turn written last. (c) By showing thateven if the facts be true, the arithmetic faultless, and the collocation of thenumerics honest, it does not follow that mere men could not have written thiswithout Inspiration from above.

Accordingly, as many as nine noted rationalists (of whom Drs. Lyman Abbot andCharles W. Eliot are still living) [now in 1927 also gone to where they may know]were respectfully but publicly invited to refute the writer. One was not "interested"in the writer's "arithmetical" doings; two "regretted" that they "had no time" to giveheed thereto. Another "did not mean to be unkind," but ... The rest were silent.

Page 45: Science Proves the Bible

http://slidepdf.com/reader/full/science-proves-the-bible 45/54

For the special benefit of these the writer printed the original data with numerousdetails, enabling them in the easiest manner to verify every statement made byhim, if they wished. And to the best of his ability he has for years seen to it thatno scholar whom surely these things specially concern remain in ignorance of thefacts here recounted and of like cogency.

A notable exception to the above is a lawyer of standing [now also dead], whosebooks on Law are deemed as of authority. He had intelligence enough andcandor withal to confess that the case for the Bible as made out by the writer isimpregnable, that the Bible is thus proved to be an "absolutely unique book."

This much the case itself exhorts from the but too well equipped writer on -EVIDENCE; and accordingly he henceforth reads the writer's Numerics withintense appreciation. And then, fresh from this confession, he betakes himself once more to the circulation of his anti-Christian books in the writing of which he

joys to spend his leisure hours.

In the second letter to the N. Y. Sun the author, in discussing some irrelevant"answers" to his first letter, recited the three ways of refuting him and thencontinued:

No sane man will try to refute me by the second method. To refute me by the firstmethod I herewith respectfully invite any or all of the following to prove that myfacts are not facts: namely Messrs: Lyman Abbott, Washington Gladden, Heber Newton, Minot J. Savage, Presidents Eliot of Harvard, White of Cornell,Professors J. Henry Thayer of Harvard, and Dr. Briggs, and any other prominenthigher critic so called. They may associate with themselves, if they choose, all

the contributors of the ninth edition of the Encyclopedia Britannica who wrote itsarticles on Biblical subjects together with a dozen mathematicians of the calibreof Professor Simon Newcomb. The heavier the calibre of either scholar or mathematician, the more satisfactory to me.

They will find that my facts are facts. And since they are facts, I am ready to takethem to any three prominent lawyers, or, better still, to any judge of a superior or supreme court, and abide by his decision as to whether the conclusion is notnecessary that Inspiration alone can account for the facts, if they are facts.

All I should ask would be that the judge treat the case as he would any other

case that comes before him: declining to admit matters for discussion asirrelevant when they are irrelevant; and listening patiently to both sides, as hedoes in any trial.

BIBLE NUMERICS

THE WORK OF DR. IVAN PANIN

Bible Numerics is a scientific and mathematical approach to the Greek andHebrew texts which eliminates all various readings and establishes perfectoriginal language texts. This technique was developed by Dr. Ivan Panin, a

converted Russian Nihilist, Harvard Scholar, professor and mathematician, whoonce tutored Albert Einstein. After accepting Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior, Dr.Panin mastered Greek and Hebrew in only four years.

As a mathematician he was intrigued by the fact that Greek and Hebrew are twolanguages which use their alphabet as their numbering system. By placing a ticmark ' next to a letter the letter is converted to a number, e.g. a' becomes thenumber 1, b' is the number 2, g' is the number 3, etc., through the number 9, thenthe letters represent 10, 20, 30-90, and finally into the hundreds, 100, 200, 300-900.

Dr. Panin began changing letters into numbers in both Greek and Hebreworiginal texts and began finding a unique numerical structure to these texts.Every letter, word, phrase, sentence, sub-paragraph, paragraph, section andbook took on a definite arithmetical sum and system. To remove or change evenone letter would destroy the numerical patterns existing throughout the texts. This discovery was absolutely revolutionary and so unique that only God couldhave done it.

In effect, Dr. Panin took all the existing Greek parchments and synthesized theminto one perfect Greek New Testament. Unfortunately, Dr. Panin died in 1942before he was able to complete the establishment of the perfect Hebrew text of

the Old Testament.

A SCIENTIFIC VOCABULARY

Dr. Panin took ten years to create a "scientific vocabulary" by comparing all of the known Greek manuscripts and applying Greek rules of grammar as well asnumerics to these manuscripts. He was forced to do this before he could create aperfect Greek New Testament. His work reveals the following kinds of information.

- The number of words in the vocabulary will divide by 7.

- The number of words beginning with a vowel is divisible by 7.

- The number of words beginning with a consonant is divisible by 7.

- The number of letters in the vocabulary is divisible by 7.

Page 47: Science Proves the Bible

8/2/2019 Science Proves the Bible

http://slidepdf.com/reader/full/science-proves-the-bible 47/54

- Of these letters, those which are vowels and those which are consonants willboth divide by 7.

- The number of words in the vocabulary occurring more than once is divisible by7. Those occurring only once likewise divide by 7.

- The number of nouns is divisible by 7. The number that are not nouns likewisedivides by 7.

- The number of proper names is divisible by 7. The male names divide by 7. Thefemale names divide by 7.

- The number of words beginning with each of the letters of the alphabet isdivisible by 7.

- The numerical value of the vocabulary is divisible by 7.

- The numerical value of the various alphabetical groups of words is divisible by7.

- The numerical value of the various forms in which the words occur produce thesame phenomenon.

- The numeric system that runs throughout Scripture establishes each book andbreaks each book down by section, paragraph, sub-paragraph, sentence, phrase, and word.

- Bible Numerics establishes precise punctuation as well as specific word order.

Dr. Panin was so convinced that this mathematical system revealed in the Biblecould only have been accomplished by the mind of God that he offered $100 (agreat deal of money in the early 1900s) to anyone who could write even oneparagraph of 300 words which would reflect this same numerical phenomenon.

THE BOOKS OF THE BIBLE

Here are specific examples of the proofs which Bible Numerics offers. The Biblein the original texts listed the books in a different order than our modern day

Bibles. The list is as follows:

1. Genesis 23. Zephaniah 45. James

2. Exodus 24. Haggai 46. I Peter

3. Leviticus 25. Zechariah 47. II Peter

4. Numbers 26. Malachi 48. I John

20. Micah 42. Luke 64. Titus

21. Nahum 43. John 65. Philemon

22. Habakkuk 44. Acts 66. Revelation

Our Bible has 66 books, or 6 11's.

The anonymous books (authors unknown) are 22, or 2 11's.

The non-anonymous books (authors known) are 44, or 4 11's.

Of these 44 books, 22 or 2 11's belong to writers of more than one book and 22or 2 11's to writers of only one book.

The sum of the 66 sequential numbers (adding 1+2+3+4 etc.) is 2211, which is201 11's.

This number is divided as follows: the 22 books of the authors of more than onebook have 946 or 86 11's.

The other 44 books have 1265 or 115 11's.

Of the 66 books, 21 are epistles. Their are sequentially 45-65 (James toPhilemon).

The sum 2211 for the 66 books is divided between epistles and non-epistles. Theepistles have 1155 or 105 11's. The non-epistles have 1056 or 96 11's.

Of the Epistles the first, middle and last books have 165 or 15 11's, of which inturn the first and last have 110 or 10 11's; and the middle has 55 or 5 11's.

The Old Testament authors quoted in the New Testament include Moses, David,Isaiah, Jeremiah, Hosea, Joel and Daniel. The books which they wrote are

sequentially numbered 2, 3, 4, 5, 12, 13, 15, 16, 27, 35 and the sum of thesenumber is 132 or 12 11's.

THE NAMES OF THE AUTHORS

Converting the letters of each name of the known authors of the Bible results insome interesting numerical facts.

The numerical sum of the names of the authors of the Bible is 7931 or 7x11x103or 721 11's. The sum of the factors 7+11+103=121 or 11 11's.

So far the number 11 and the numeric patterns revolving around the number 11is a key to establishing the books and authors of the Bible. However, the number 7 is also a key.

Returning to the sum of the names of the known authors of the Bible, which is7931, the number of writers of Old Testament books is 21, or 3 7's and the sumof their names have a total of 3808, or 544 7's.

The New Testament writers have a total of 4123 or 589 7's.

Of the 3808 belonging to the Old Testament, 2933 or 419 7's belong to the

writers of the Law and the Prophets, from Moses to Malachi; and 1190 or 170 7'swhich belong to the writers of the Hagiographa, from David to Nehemiah.

Seven of the 21 Old Testament writers, or 3 7's, are expressly named as such inthe New Testament; Moses, David, Isaiah, Jeremiah, Daniel, Hosea, Joel. Their numeric value is 1554 or 222 7's.

The numeric value of Moses (345), who heads the list, and John (1069), whocloses it, is 345+1069=1414 or 202 7's.

THE ODDS OF PROBABILITY

The odds that these features of 7's and 11's are accidental runs into one inbillions and clearly shows that the number of books of the Bible has a uniquenumerical design (and this list of features is not comprehensive). The proportionbetween anonymous and non-anonymous books is designed. The proportionbetween the number of books belonging to one writer and the number of booksbelonging to writers of more than one book is designed. The proportion in theBible between epistles and non-epistles is designed. The number of books of Old

Testament writers quoted in the New Testament is designed. The order of thebooks in the original languages is designed. The names of the 26 writers of theBible are designed.

A SPECIFIC EXAMPLE

Let's examine the Greek word "anabaIno" which means "to go up" in English. This word occurs in the New Testament in 26 different forms (spellings whichaffect case, plurality, gender, tense and mood) whose numeric value is 12,089 or 1727 7's.

The prefix "ana" which means "up" occurs in these words in two forms --- "ana"and "ane".

The forms which begin with "ana" are 21 in number or 3 7's, with a numeric valueof 11,067 or 1581 7's.

The forms beginning with "ane" have a total of 1022, or 146 7's.

The total numeric value of all their occurrences in the New Testament is 20,265or 2895 7's.

The number of letters employed in all the occurrences of this word are 13.

The word occurs in 26 different forms or 2 13's, of which 13 occur only one timeand 13 occur more than once.

13 of these forms are plural, 13 are singular.

The 26 forms have 234 letters or 18 13's. This number (234) is also dividedbetween the forms beginning with "ana" and those beginning with "ane".

Those with "ana" have 195 letters or 15 13's. Those with "ane" have 39 letters, or 3 13's.

The total number of letters in all the occurrences of the word in the NewTestament is 624 or 48 13's.

Dr. Panin wrote the following in context with this Greek word: "As this wordoccurs in 10 different New Testament books, and is used by 5 different writers, the supposition that the 5 different writers had an understanding amongthemselves so as to produce these phenomena in the New Testament isinadmissible, even if there had been no other but this reason: it would requiremore than a lifetime of any one man to elaborate such a scheme even for thisword alone, apart from scattering these phenomena among 4 other men and 9

Page 51: Science Proves the Bible

other books. But similar phenomena are true not only of this one word but of hundreds of others in the New Testament."

ALTERNATE READINGS ELIMINATED

By applying numeric principles Dr. Panin was able to eliminate alternatereadings. An example is the word "arche" which means "beginning".

 All the occurrences of this word use 7 letters, which are a, e, i, n, r, s, x (ch), witha numeric value of 969 or 51 19's or 17x19x3.

Using these factors (17, 19 and 3) this word presents three distinct numericschemes of 7's, 17's and 19's.

1. The word occurs in the New Testament in 7 forms 56 times or 8 7's.

2. The 7 forms have 34 letters or 2 17's; the 56 occurrences have 272 letters or 16 17's.

3. The value of the seven letters --- a, e, i, n, r, s, and x --- which was seen aboveto be 969 or 51 19's is distributed as follows: the 3 vowels have a value of 19 or 119; the 4 consonants have a value of 950 or 50 19's. The total value of all theoccurrences of this word is 47,044 or 2476 19's.

This triple design in the single word settles the hitherto uncertain reading in IIThess 2:13. Westcott & Hort (Dr. Panin's primary Greek source) read there "ap'arches" meaning "from beginnings", two separate words. They offer an

alternative "aparchen" meaning "first-fruit", one word. Numerics establishes thatthe correct reading is two words with the appropriate translation of "frombeginnings".

Numerics eliminates the conflict between scholars as well as between Greekmanuscripts. The phrase "the kingdom of God" is unique to the book of Matthew.

1. The word "basileia" meaning "kingdom" has a numeric value of 259 or 37 7's,of which the first three letters have a value of 203 or 29 7's; and the remainingfive 56 or 8 7's.

2. The following 13 letters are used in this phrase --- a, b, e, e, i, l, n, o, r, s, t, u,and w whose values are 1, 2, 5, 8, 10, 30, 50, 70, 100, 200, 300, 400, and 800.Their sum is 1976 or 8x13x19 which is a combination of factors 8, 13 and 19.

Accordingly, there are three distinct numeric schemes of 8's, 13's and 19'srunning through this phrase of four words.

3. This phrase (kingdom of God) is unique in Matthew and occurs 32 times or 48's. Its numeric value is 2888 or 361 8's. The value of four of its forms totals

Page 52: Science Proves the Bible

8/2/2019 Science Proves the Bible

http://slidepdf.com/reader/full/science-proves-the-bible 52/54

12,952 or 1619 8's, of which the first and the third are also multiples of 8. Thenumeric value of the whole phrase is 2888 or 361 8's and is thus divided by 8's:1976 or 247 8's belong to the 13 letters used in the phrase; and 912 or 114 8'sbelong to the letters that are duplicates.

4. The 13 letters used in this phrase have, as just stated, a value of 1976, amultiple of 13 as well as of 8 and 19; and of this number the letters having avalue up to ten (a, b, e, e, i) have a numeric value of 26 or 2 13's; and the letterswith a value above 10 have the remaining 1950 or 150 13's.

5. The phrse consists of 19 letters with a numeric value of 2888 or 19x19x8 --- amultiple not only of 19, but even of its square, and in combination with thenumber 8. Of these 2888 or 8x19 19's and 1976 or 8x13 19's belong to theduplicate letters. (Of the last three numbers notice that they are multiples of both8 and 19.) And again, of the number 2888 or 152 19's, 380 or 20 19's belong tothe four letters e, b, t, and o, with which the four words of this phrase begin.

Finally, the factors of 1976 which are 19x13x2x2x2 have for their sum 38, or 219's.

The numerics of this phrase settle the text of Matthew 19:24 where somescholars use "kingdom of God" while others use "kingdom of heaven". To use"kingdom of heaven" here would destroy the numeric pattern uncovered by Dr.Panin.

Dr. Panin's comment? "This phrase occurs 32 times, a number which is morenotable than a square or a cube, since it is the combination of the first squarewith the first cube, thus: 2x2x2x2x2. When the meaning of scriptural numerics

becomes fully known (with which, however, the writer is at present lessconcerned than with the mere registration of the numeric facts), it will furnish anadditional reason why this unique phrase should be used 32 times rather than33."

THE GREAT COMMISSION IN MARK: IN OR OUT?

Dr. Panin used numerics to establish the validity of passages of scripture andpublished a small booklet proving that Mark 16:9-20, which modern daytheological skeptics have tried to discredit because it is missing in some Greekmanuscripts, is not only a valid passage but is uniquely a section of the book in

itself. The last twelve verses of Mark present 60 features of the number 7including having 175 words or 25 7's; a vocabulary of 98 words or 2x49 or 2 7'sof 7's; with 553 letters or 79 7's; with 133 forms or 19 7's; and so on to thesmallest detail.

Dr. Panin spent over 30 years of his life working with Bible Numerics. In 1934 hewas able to publish the perfect Greek New Testament which could only havebeen imagined and implemented by the mind of God. The examples presentedhere represent only a small fraction of Bible Numerics. Dr. Panin's work is a vitaland lasting legacy and is the basis of my interlinear as well as the word studies

upon which I base my writings.

Dean Finnestad 1998

ONE HUNDRED AND FIFTY-THREE

There must be something deeply significant about this number from the solemnway in which it is introduced:

Simon Peter went up and drew the net to land full of great fishes, an hundred andfifty and three." Why this meticulous accuracy? Why not say he caught about a

hundred and fifty fish? Now it will be remembered that when Jesus called Peter to become His disciple he said, "Follow me, and I will make you fishers of men."The one hundred and fifty three fishes are thus symbolic of the men whom Peter caught.' The number is therefore symbolic of 'The sons of God,' and this idea isclosely connected with the factors of 153, namely 9 x 17 for 'eternal security.'

The reference in John is the only occasion on which the number 153 appears inScripture so that direct confirmation by comparison of texts is not possible. However, some very remarkable evidence is to be derived from numeric values. In the record of the miraculous draught, the word for 'fishes' comes to 1,224, or 8x 153, and the words for 'the net' have the same value, 1,224.

The Hebrew expression for ' Sons of God' has a numeric value of exactly 153,while the Greek equivalent adds up to 3,213, .or 3 x7 x153. Another Greekphrase with a similar meaning is 'joint heirs' which comes to 1,071; or 7'x 153. InMark there is a complete list of the twelve disciples. The total numeric value of the names as there given is 9,639 or 7 x 9 x 153.

MOST IMPORTANT BOOKS BY IVAN PANIN

Ivan Panin offered a thousand dollars in newspaper articles to anyone who coulddisprove Numerics and then he gave examples. No one ever collected that

reward. The leading atheistic speakers refused to debate him when they foundout what he had.

Numeric English New Testament by Ivan Panin is the most accurate NewTestament in existence, which was made from Numerically correct texts.

Outside of this the R.V. or revised A.S.V. are the most accurate. In the front of this N.T. Panin said that the A.S.V. "approaches the autographs (original) better than any extant copy of the New Testament."

Numeric Greek New Testament by Ivan Panin is a copy of the original Greek textmade from Numerically correct texts.

Before this the most accurate was the Nestle's Text, which was made from thethree most ancient manuscripts. When two or more agreed, Nestle put that inthe text. One place the Nestle's Text may be found is The Zondervan Parallel

New Testament In Greek and English. Numerics is God's method for finding thecorrect text. It clearly shows where each ancient manuscript is right or wrong.
