TRAINING THE NEXT GENERATION OF GREAT MINDS

We are at an incredibly exciting time in science. Partnering with the

California Institute of Quantitative Bioscience and the California

Translational Science Institute, scholars will not only be able to see

how science is born in the lab, translated and commercialized,

but will actively engage in research projects and work with biotechnology

UNIVERSITY OF CALIFORNIASAN FRANCISCO

Founded nearly 150 years ago, UCSF is the only campus in the 10-campus UC system dedicated exclusively to the health sciences.

UCSF also serves the city’s vulnerable populations at its affiliates San Francisco General Hospital and Trauma Center and the San Francisco Veteran Affairs Medical Center as well as several health care facilities, including St. Anthony Free Clinic, Buchanan Dental Center and Glide Health Services.

Its faculty include five Nobel laureates, who have made seminal contributions to advance the understanding of cancer, neurodegenerative diseases, aging and stem cell research.

PROGRAM MISSION

Innovations resulting from science, technology, engineering and mathematics have transformed nearly every aspect of

human life.

Scientific innovations do not arise on their own however; each is brought forth through the hard work and ingenuity of

scientists.

The mission of this program is to identify and mentor the next generation of great scientists. To identify students with

potential, passion and perseverance and provide them with the skills and tools to become future leaders in the field.
