We are seeking candidates for the position of the Principal investigator (PI), with the titleof Max Planck Tandem Group Leader (MPTGL) - Young Investigator Award PI (YIA-PI).Te candidates must be at the beginning of a promising scientifc career with at least twoyears of demonstrated postdoctoral experience with outstanding results in internationallycompetitive research groups outside Brazil.
Te candidates must be highly motivated to develop and carry out a competitive researchprogram associated to a higher education or research institution in the state of São Paulo,Brazil. Te research activities are expected to generate high-impact ideas, communicatedin international scientifc publications. Te PI will have support to hire postdocs andgraduate and undergraduate students. Every PI will work in close collaboration withcolleagues at a corresponding Max Planck Institute.
Te three positions are open to candidates of any nationality. For candidates who donot have a position in a higher education or research institution in the state of São Paulo,Brazil, a fellowship can be awarded by FAPESP as part of the grant, at a competitive valueaccording to local and international standards. Te support ofered includes funds forresearch equipment, consumables, supplies and fellowships for students and post-docs.Te successful candidates will be appointed initially for 5 years with the possibilityof one-year extension following an outstanding independent external evaluation.In the last 20 years, a large fraction of the PIs in FAPESP’s YoungInvestigator Awards obtained permanente positions in a highereducation or research institution in the state of São Paulo, Brazil.

The Department of Physiology at the University of Tennessee HealthScience Center (UTHSC) invites applications and nominations fromnationally and internationally renowned individuals for the position ofEldon D. &Ruth Connell Endowed Chair Professor of Diabetes Research.TheDepartment of Physiology at UTHSCwas recently ranked ninth out ofall Physiology Departments in North America for total research funding.Current areas of research within the Department include, cardiovasculardisease, diabetes, gastrointestinal disease, cancer, neurodegenerativediseases and ion channels.
Outstanding collaborative opportunities and excellent resourcesare available in the Department of Physiology and the Division ofEndocrinology at the UTHSC. In addition to the endowed chair fund, thisposition comes with a competitive start-up package. The occupant of theConnell Endowed Chair will assume a leadership role in diabetes researchon the UTHSC campus. The qualified candidate will have an outstandingrecord of research accomplishments and significant extramural funding.He/she is expected to maintain a vigorous, creative, externally fundedresearch program that compliments that of current faculty and builds ondepartmental strengths.Applicants are expected to be leaders in the field ofdiabetes researchwith an internationally-recognized research program thatis supported by robust extramural funding. UPMC Hillman Cancer Center (ÔHillmanÕ) announces an exciting new postdoctoral training opportunity atthe University of Pittsburgh. Named after Elsie and Henry L. Hillman, the Hillman Postdoctoral Fellowsfor Innovative Cancer Research program (www.UPMCHillman.com/PostdoctoralFellowship) seeks thenationÕs top graduate students and early-stage postdoctoral fellows to pursue leading-edge cancer researchin Hillman laboratories.
This very competitive program will consider only exceptional candidates who have strong scientifcbackgrounds and are highly self-motivated in their pursuit of postdoctoral studies. The selected Fellowswill receive both a stipend (20% above the current NIH level) and a generous career development fund,which can be applied toward more that than the usual list of research-related expenses, including purchaseof a laptop and travel to national or international meetings.
