The Web of Science is a carefully developed and maintained collection of influential journal literature. The inclusion of every journal and serial, 8800 titles, is determined through rigorous evaluation.

Our selection of journals published 1900-1944 involved:

• Examination of citation patterns within the existing coverage, 1945- present, to identify high-impact titles

• Assessment of multidisciplinary representation within the core group of high-impact journals of this era

since its publication!




Its Premise:

Thomson-Scientific has for decades captured author cited references (bibliographies) from journal articles that are indexed in the Web of Science and Current Contents. Journals indexed in these two databases are rigorously evaluated and selected for their international influence.
