From the Principal’s Desk
We have had a very exciting two weeks since I
have been warming the Principal chair. Three big
events happened last week with our Scitech
STEM Incursion, NAIDOC Community
Breakfast and Assembly and a visit from Meadow
Springs Primary School for Winter Sport.
The Scitech Incursion for students in Years 1 to 6
was successfully organised by our STEM
(Science, Technology, Engineering and
Mathematics) teacher Mrs Joanne Glass. The
children experienced the wonders of robotics as
they learned how to code and program a small
robot to either flash lights on and off, play a tune
or move in given directions. The children were
totally engrossed in the activities as they worked
in pairs to program their robots. We can’t wait to
see how they will take these skills further.
Our NAIDOC Community Breakfast was a Big
Hit. We had several special guests, Monique
from Bendigo Bank, Justine and Michelle from
the Child and Parent Centre, Kirsty from our
School Board and representatives from our P&C.
Volunteers from Breakfast Club cooked and
parents Nicole and Mereana helped put the
sausages in buns. We would like to thank
everybody who helped out on the day. Especially
those staff members who prepared food,
organised the catering and got up early on a
freezing cold morning to help set up. It was a
truly “community event” that celebrated our
Aboriginal families and their culture.
Our NAIDOC Community Breakfast was
followed by a wonderful NAIDOC themed
assembly presented by Room 7. The feedback
that I received from staff, guests and parents,
about the assembly was lovely. Ms Pihama, Miss
Boyle, Mrs Smith, Room 7 and Glee should be
commended for their efforts. Especially poignant
was the Noongar chorus in the song “I am
Australian”. I don’t think I was the only one who
got goose bumps listening to it.
Last Friday Meadow Springs Primary School
visited us to play Winter Sports. It was the last
event in this series, which culminates in a
Lightning Carnival this Friday 28th June.
We had some success from Winter Sports with
Football and Netball B teams both finishing top
of the table. Soccer, Hockey and Volleyball also
recorded some good wins.
Enjoy the last weeks of Term 2.
Warm regards,
Karen Clifford

ALONG AND SUPPORT OUR SCHOOL.
Does my child need to get to
school on time?
YES - Children need to settle in and get prepared for the day. When they are late they miss out on valuable learning time.
Also, to qualify for the Reward Program and Prize Draw your child must be at school before the siren.
Siren goes at 8.50am—If your child is late, they will need to get a late pass from Admin.
Collection time is over!!! Please drop all stickers into the school office or your local Woolworths Store as soon as you can. Thank you to all families who have contributed to our growing tally each day, we appreciate your effort.
CONGRATULATIONS! Congratulations to all of the students who received Honour Certificates at the assembly on 20th June 2019.
