Data

ImportingwelldatainPetrelcanbeatimeconsumingprocess. Therearemultipletypesofdata(headers,

logs,completion,etc.),eachhavingmultiplepossibleformats. Hopefully,yourcompanydatabasetakes

careofmuchofthisimportforyou. However,youwillprobablyhavetoimportdataatonetimeor

another(newwellsdrilled,wellsmissingfromdatabase,databoughtfromanotherparty,etc.). Most

experiencedPetrelusersarefamiliarwithimportingalotofthedataittakestofullydescribeawell. Many

havenevertriedimportingcompletiondata. ThatisthepurposeofthisTIPS&TRICKS.

Usually,

importing

well

data

has

up

to

five

separate

imports.

They

are:

1. ImportingHeaders

2. ImportingDeviationSurveys

3. ImportingLogs

4. ImportingTops

5. ImportingCompletionInformation

Thefirstfourarefairlycommonandnotapartofthisdocument. Here,wewillfocusonimporting

completioninformationonly. ThisdocumentwaswrittenusingPetrel2011.2,howeverearlierversionsof

Petrelareverysimilar.
