Introduction:The future outcomes are a functions of today’s

decisions.8O% of states’ population depends upon agriculture.Agricultural growth rate of state is 7.8% for year 2015-

16.More than 30% of agricultural products wasted due to

improper management.Planning is important because of it’s uncertainty.

History:Word agriculture is derived from latine word agri means

land and culture means operation. Jharkhand formed in year 2000 ,carved out from south

Bihar.Hilly state with good annual rainfall(1100-1300mm). In Jharkhand, at initial stage agriculture is occupationTraditional farming is of two types:

1. Intensive cultivation2. Simple cultivation

What is an Entrepreneur?An Entrepreneur (ahn’tra pra nur) is a person who organizes and manages a business undertaking, assuming the risk for the sake of profit. Any person (any age) who starts and operates a business is an entrepreneur.

Entrepreneurship:Agricultural students have been entrepreneurs since the beginning of agricultural education.

Agricultural Entrepreneurship:

Entrepreneurship: The students plans, implements, operates and assumes financial risk in a farming activity or agricultural business. In entrepreneurship programmes, the students owns the materials and other required inputs and keeps financial records to determine return to investments.

Opportunities for Agri-Entrepreneurship:563 Million people engaged in

Agriculture.

52% of total land is cultivable as against 11% in the world.

Primary sector of our economy is Agriculture.

Contd....In the live stock sector, India has 16% of

cattle, 57% of buffalo, 17% of goats and 5 % of sheep population of the world.

The share of agriculture in the total value added to the economy, at around25 per cent, is still quite high. This implies that agriculture is likely to remain a priority, both for policy makers as well as businesses

Scope of Agril. Entrepreneurship in Jharkhand:

At Farm Level:

Production of agriculture produce by making best use of the technology, resources and demand in the market.

As Service Providers:

These include the input procurement and distribution, hiring of implements and equipment like tractors, seed drills, sprayers, harvesters, threshers, dryers and technical services such as installation of irrigation facilities, weed control, plant protection, harvesting etc.

Contd...Input ProducersThere are many potential business opportunities viz.

bio-fertilizers, bio-pesticides, vermi-compost,soil , plants of different species of fruits, vegetables, ornamentals, root media for raising plants in pots, agricultural tools, irrigation accessories, production of cattle feed concentrate.There are good opportunities to support sericulture, fishery and poultry.

The large production of vegetables can promote food processing industry.

The supply chain of Agri-outputs can become scope for entrepreneur.

The summit can provide opportunity for farmers and industries to work together.

The government providing finance for stand-up and start-up India for developing entrepreneurship. which is very useful for youth of Jharkhand.

Government Of Jharkhand provide single window facility for new investors/enterpreneurs.
