rDear SCOREpublic,
This is the first bulletin that specifically discusses the SCORE project. I am really glad and relieved; finally, it is done and hopes that this bulletin will be made regularly for the next year. SCORE project bulletin will be published twice in a year around December and May.
The purpose of this SCORE project bulletin is to publish the projects that run on SCORE, the activities in SCORE not just include Research Exchange, but also many projects that we made besides that. The projects include local, national, and international project. SCORE project bulletin is also expected become an inspiration for every local SCORE in project's making, to activate their local SCORE by projects besides Research Exchange program. Some local projects that haven't been listed will be published in the next edition of the SCORE project bulletin.
In this bulletin, also include about some examples of SCORE projects from other countries. It is expected that these projects can also inspire, awake our spirit and creativity in making SCORE CIMSA project
Thanks to LOREs, Raka as MPD who designed this bulletin, Rifki Zidny as our NORE, and all contributors for this first SCORE Project Bulletin. I am looking forward for suggestions and constructive criticism to improve SCORE Project Bulletin.

Dear CIMSA member especially SCOREpublic !!
It's a great pleasure for me to introduce you our first issue of SCORE Project bulletin –the official
project bulletin of the Standing Committee on Research Exchange (SCORE) of Center for Indonesian's
Medical Students' Activities (CIMSA).
The Mission of SCORE is to offer future physicians an opportunity to experience research and
diversity in countries all over the world. This is achieved by providing a network of locally and
internationally active students that globally facilitates access to research exchange projects. Through
our programming and opportunities, we aim to develop both culturally sensitive students and skilled
researchers intent on shaping the world of science in the upcoming future.
SCORE does not solely focus on research exchanges. Through its programming, style,
publications and trainings, SCORE is a leader in the medical student world, an engine to foster a new
generation of young scientists who will break new grounds in the medical science and a booster for
medical student to deepen the global health issues.
Beside our 3 main projects, project hunting, incoming and outgoing, SCORE has several projects
related to research. However, existing research projects in SCORE are research projects based
activities. This bulletin will give you a description of how the project which took place in the SCORE
both projects at local, national, or international.
Enjoy this bulletin, hope this bulletin able to increase the work of CIMSA in general and able to foster
the creativity of CIMSA members in creating projects related to research :)

SCOREproject
Projects in SCORE have to be adjusted with the vision and mission of SCORE CIMSA. SCORE Projects is aimed to increase knowledge and experience in the field of research. One effort to reach it is through SCORE's main activity, that is Research Exchange, which is a research program for medical students to get an experience of studying medicine in other countries within a specific period. Research Exchange program includes:
a.Incoming : a SCORE national project which SCORE accept students from other countries to follow the research in Indonesia.
b.Outgoing : a SCORE national project which in this case, students from Indonesia go to foreign countries to participate the research in the desired state.
To support incoming project, there is Project Hunting where each local have to find medical research projects from lecturers or doctors. Research project will be given to NORE and published on ifmsa.net.To promote the outgoing program, each local have to do a Research Exchange Expo, where the form can be a stand, talk shows, publications with brochures, and etc.Besides Research Exchange, each local also has another projects which is developed based on their creativity. The examples of projects undertaken are:
a.Research trainingProject is implemented by providing a training about research, so medical students have a basic knowledge about medical and science research.
b.Scientific writing contestc.SCORE training
Training for socializing the SCORE program to all SCORE's members. d.SCORE research
Through this project, students can improve the ability in doing research, especially about medical research.
e.Research FairA media to present or display of research's or scientific writing results that have been created.
For this 2010-2011 period, SCORE CIMSA also has a new national project that is SCORE goes Public and international project, that is TB Exchange (see the explanation on the next page).Actually, there are still many projects that can be made. Let's get creative in making the SCORE project!

People always judge that writing scientific report is a boring activity, not interesting, and sounds like an old school activity. SCORE as standing
committee which concern to scientific and research, pleasurely, start to build and change the stigma of research activity that used to be boring
become a completely fun interesting activity to do. So, SCORE Unsyiah create a project, that is One Step to Research Workshop (OSTR), an event
that combine seminary and workshop atmosphere. In this event will discuss about steps of starting, concepting, until writing of scientific report. This
event actually is organized for medical students of UNSYIAH that ready to face research topic, the last topic before pass the regular academic
graduation becoming co-assistant.
The aims of this project are introduce to students about the reason why the medical student have to do research and how to begin the
research, develop the idea for the research, and stimulates the idea of medical stusents to start new research.
This event divided into several parts, such as explanation from the scientific and research experts about step by step of medical research methods,
steps to start the research, concepting the idea, developing until writing the secientific report. This event is included with small working group that
each group will be discussed, develop, and do the brainstorming about the hottest medical issue to be explored into a research.
Through this project, hope that the students have acknowledgment about how to begin, concept, make, and write the scientific medical
reserach. Hopefully, this project can be a pioneer to open minds to start new research activities, and the medical students get more ready to face
globalization era about medical issue.
OSTR has been held since 2009 with the theme : “a change for explorer” and it will be held again in 2011.

research) or an autonomous research.
3. Increase the SCORE's members activity in research for studying.
4. Give a contribution to the society by means of research activity and its
result.
This project is divided into four levels:
a. Level 1 – Training for Trainer (TnT) : training about research to SCORE's
members. The tutor can be a lecturer or other person that expert in research.
b. Level 2 – SCORE goes to faculty or trans-SCO: make a simple research by
transSCO or research with the target is the society in Faculty of Medicine. The
principle of transSCO research is evaluate the success of other SCO's project
(SCOPE, SCORP, SCORA, SCOPH, SCOME).
c. Level 3 – SCORE goes to university: make a research with the target is the
society in university
d. Level 4 – SCORE goes to society: make a research with the target is public
society. This research can be done by making a cooperation with external side

ng is an international meeting organized by medical students from the Faculty of Medicine of the University of Porto. This meeting provides students in biomedical fields the opportunity to learn from world class specialists, present their research work, take part in various workshops, thus promoting a true exchange of knowledge and experience between those who are most passionate about science.
thAfter four successful editions, the 5 YES Meeting returns in 2010, this was held th thon 24 -26 Sept 2010 at Porto, Portugal. Full with new ideas and concepts, according to
the standards of excellence and innovation that are distinctive characteristics of this unique event.
The three main goals which have aimed at since the first edition are now established features in the YES Meeting organization.
Firstly, concerning biomedical student education, it focuses on areas of interest such as chronic pain, evolution and medicine, stem cells, ischaemic heart disease, and oncological therapy. In each area every YES participant has the opportunity to learn more from world-class experts in an informal manner, exchanging knowledge and experience.
Secondly, the of biomedical projects developed by students offers the opportunity to promote and stimulate undergraduate research. This year's themes are physiology, neuroscience, immunology, oncology & molecular biology, and clinical medicine. The students research work, either in oral communication or poster format, is judged by a renowned Scientific Committee, awarding the best ones in each field.
Lastly, but equally important, is the construction of a worldwide network of students, having in common the interest for research and biomedical sciences; a circuit of culture, knowledge and science that brings all participants closer together.
The YES Meeting Programme includes speaker sessions, workshops, keynote speaker sessions, student presentations and social programme. The social programme consists of city tours, sight-seeing, visitting Porto and its surroundings, Rabelo boat trips, and etc.
SCORE PET ( Peer Education Training)SCORE TurkMSIC
SCORE PET is a training program that aims to increase the scientific knowledge, technical skills, and general motivation of the outgoing students before attending their exchange. The vision of SCORE PET is to lead medical students to be the scientists those have ethical perspectives and critical awareness to evaluate the scientific knowledge with a remarkable scientific background and openness to the most recent innovations.
The motivation of the students is the key issue to get them involved in their research. However it is needed to support their motivation with basic academic knowledge. This motivation and knowledge has to be kept alive by stimulating critical thinking and behavioral change.
SCORE PET was held in Turkey by TurkMSIC in May 2008. It was first presented as a project proposal at the MM08 in Mexico. After this presentation many NOREs were interested in having the same training done in their NMOs. Fyrat buyuktaskin from turkey is the Development Assistant for SCORE PET 2010-2011.
In many countries, research exchanges cannot reach their ultimate goal due to a lack of student motivation, knowledge and awareness. The hope is that SCORE PET will play a big role in filling this gap. The knowledge gained from SCORE PET will also make students more aware of ethical misconduct so that they could abstain from such unethical behaviors.
This 3 days training have some agendas, includes:a. Introduction to Science Philosophy – Lectureb. Research Ethics – Lecturec. Methodology, project design and research methods – Lectured. Research Planning: Fundraising and International opportunities – Lecture& Discussione. Research Planning: Medical Writing – Lecture& Workshopf. Basic Biostatistics – Workshopg. Visual presentation: Movieh. Intercultural Learning – Training

SCORE in PP and PF October Meeting 2010
Project fair (PF) and Project presentation (PP) are sessions to present and promote the CIMSA official projects, locals or Standing Committe projects in National Meeting (October and May Meeting). Project Fair is the chance to promote projects with the media can be poster, flyer, leaflets, banners, or another form. Project Presentation is one session where some projects have the chance to present their projects to delegates of the national meeting.
Last October we had October Meeting 2010 at Jogjakarta with the host was MMSA UMY. There were 24 projects for Project Presentation and 33 projects for Project Fair. From those projects, there were four SCORE's projects in PP and PF: eXchange the World from SCORE UNSYIAH, MEW-EX and Research in Love from SCORE UMY, and also our national project that is SCORE goes Public.
In PP, the presenter of the projects were:- Tilovi Gani Ciputra, presented Research in Love- Rifki Zidny, presented SCORE goes Public- Aya Ayodhia and Pebriansyah, presented eXchange the World
The participants were very enthusiastic to participate in Project Fair. SCORE goes Public, MEW-EX, and Research in Love project in PF were promoted by poster, gave pin and key chain to the participants. eXchange the World project had a unique method in their promotion. They use t-shirt that was written “I'm the Exchange Clopedia” and made wallboard with the information about countries profile for exchange program. It meant that they acted as the informant for exchange.
For SCOREpublic, let's participate again in PP and PF for the next national meeting. Prepare your project and please contact Project Coordinator of SCORE for more information.
