SCORPIO is a high performance Sovereign 51 monohull sailing yacht that sleeps up to 3 guests in 2 guest state-rooms. She is highly responsive, and the helm station is open with a clear view of the sails and sky. SCORPIO is engaging and dynamic to sail, and ideal for learning sailing and cruising skills.

SCORPIO’s speed means you can enjoy sailing in lighter winds (where lesser vessels will need to motor). Speeds of 8 knots are easily achieved when reaching in modest winds.

Owner operators Richard and Jan, married for 30 years, have chartered since 2009, so they are vastly experienced in exploring and chartering the entire Caribbean from the Grenadines to the Virgin Islands. They draw on vast local knowledge when crafting personalized adventures for their guests. They were former professionals in the London area.

The 2 guest staterooms have exceptional natural ventilation. The master stateroom also has air conditioning.

Special features of SCORPIO:The center cockpit area is a wonderful place for al fresco dining and for guests to relax. This area is very well shaded with a bimini top and drop down side panels.

The cockpit for steering and sailing the yacht is a second separate area behind the center cockpit area, so it’s quite separate. On most yachts in this range, the cockpit (the only outdoor seating area) and the steering and winches are all in one small area with no separation.

The master stateroom with Queen bed has the bed positioned under a large hatch in the roof above. This hatch can be angled to direct breezes right on the bed, and you can also see the stars at night.

Please note that the master bathroom bathtub/shower is small with reduced headroom. Many people prefer to take an outdoor shower after swimming rather than use the small bathtub/shower.

Richard and Jan have a wealth of sailing experience having spent years sailing the temperate waters of the North Euro-pean Atlantic coast and the warmer climes of the Mediterranean before crossing the Atlantic, then sailed over 6,000 miles circumnavigating the Caribbean Sea. Richard has been sailing since childhood and holds an MCA approved Masters Off-shore Certificate for Sailing Vessels up to 200T as well as being an ASA (American Sailing Association) qualified keelboat sailing & navigation instructor for ASA 101-103-104-105.

Since 2009, Richard & Jan have been providing crewed charter vacations aboard their yacht, Scorpio. As owner-opera-tors they pride themselves on the service they offer as well as the facilities and condition of their yacht. Unusually, they do not confine their charters to one particular area; you can charter Scorpio almost anywhere throughout the Caribbean Leeward & Windward Islands, from the ever popular, sheltered waters of the British & US Virgin Islands in the north to the less well trodden paradise of the Grenadines at the southern end of the island chain and all points in between.

Richard & Jan are both keen scuba divers; Richard holds a PADI professional Divemaster qualification and Jan is a PADI certified Rescue Diver; both have first-aid training. Richard will be delighted to show you the fantastic undersea world of the Caribbean, either snorkeling or scuba diving. For those not qualified but who would like to try scuba diving, Richard can provide a PADI Discover Scuba course. Whether admiring the spectacular coral reef or exploring sunken wrecks, the wonders below the waves are not to be missed.

Sailing & diving aside, Richard doubles as your waiter, barman, guide and all-round Mr. Fixit, while Jan does all the hard work providing your delicious meals! Jan’s style of cooking is varied –wherever possible, she likes to use local ingredients to provide meals with a Caribbean flavor but retains and reproduces all the wonderful flavors of Mediterranean cooking experienced in her earlier travels.

Richard and Jan both gave up successful professional careers to pursue their dream afloat. Richard worked in major UK distribution businesses and Jan in human resources in both public & private sectors. Not only did they thrive in this professional environment requiring the provision of high quality services to very demanding customers but they actually enjoyed the challenge.

ACCOMMODATIONSAccommodates 3 guests in 2 guest staterooms. The Master stateroom has a Queen bed and ensuite bath-room with small bath/tub/shower and toilet. The Master stateroom may be air conditioned at $30/night which requires running the generator. A Guest stateroom has a single bed, and is not air conditioned. A guest sleep-ing here may use the forward bathroom off the main salon (shared with crew) or enter the Master stateroom to use that bathroom.

ASA 101-103-104-105 is $20 per person, per level + you buy your own books (used is fine). For anyone not already a member of ASA, a $39 per person fees applies. For example, ASA 101-103-104 is $99 per person for those who are not already a member of ASA.
