‘Male Gaze’ theory in action as at the beginning of the music video as the woman walks into the building and past the men

we can see their reactions to her as she is obviously a very attractive women. One man in particular (top right of collage),

we are given a mid-shot, reaction shot where we see him looking at her breasts opposed to her face which could

foreshadow what he looks like at other women as she is staring at her breasts opposed to her face. The main male

character also seems very gormless when looking at her and this is displayed through a variety of shots and at different

periods of the music video, showing how attractive she actually is.

The same applies when we’re shown a close up shot of her bum in some tight jeans showing her in an over sexualised way and then the camera pans down where you see a bit

of her flesh and red high heels on her feet. The use of high heels that are red is very important as red has

connotations of passion, desire, and love therefore, this could signify his feelings towards her and the pan down

almost makes it seem as if it’s a subjective shot and he is in fact looking her up and down.

In this close up shot we see the female character holding on to her belt loops while the male character behind her hits her bum in a flirty

manner which highlight that this music video is in fact conforming to the Male Gaze theory. We also see colours such as red and pink on her clothing

which shows her as a typical female as these colours are stereotypically feminine colours. If you look closely again then you can see that a little bit of flesh is out within the space of her shirt and her jeans which makes her seem as if she is sexualised

as she is showing her body off.

The use of a high angle also makes her seem as if she is weaker than the male in this situation and

her looking away almost makes her seem as if she is innocent. However, following this shot she looks up

and the male character is sitting in front of him then gets up and threatens the main male

character, this almost makes the female character seem as if she is a possession and they’re fighting

over her
