Dear Parish Family,

The parish staff and I want to wish all mothers a blessed and happy Mothers’ Day. As mothers, you have made and continue to make sacrifices for your children. Today is your day. Please celebrate and enjoy!

Today we celebrate the Solemnity of the Ascension of the Lord. Today we celebrate Jesus’ return to his Father. At the Last Supper, Jesus said, “‘But I tell you the truth, it is better for you that I go. For if I do not go, the Advocate will not come to you. But if I go, I will send him to you’” [John 16:7]. During the week between Ascension and Pentecost, the Church asks us to pray for a new outpouring of the Holy Spirit.

This Thursday, May 17, at 7 p.m. our Confirmation candidates will be confirmed by Archbishop Thompson at Sts. Peter & Paul Cathedral. All are invited to attend. Congratulations to our candidates, and thanks to the Confirmation team, led by Tom Costello, who prepared them.

PLAN TO GET YOUR WRISTBANDOnce again this year, those attending the festival will be required to purchase $10 in coupons prior to admittance to the grounds. These coupons can be used as cash any place on the festival grounds. However, parishioners can bypass this requirement by securing and wearing one of our special festival wristbands. If you have and wear this wristband, you can come and go as you please all weekend without the need to purchase tickets. You may obtain this wristband for yourself, for members of your family, or for friends after Masses on May 19/20 and May 26/27 or at the parish office beginning on Monday, May 14, 9 a.m. until 3 p.m., Monday thru Friday. You will be asked to provide the name and address of others for whom you are picking up a wristband. Please plan ahead and get your wristband and find out who among your family and friends will attend so you can get one for them. We do ask that you not pick up wristbands for others unless you are sure they will be attending.

Presale tickets for festival rides will be available in church after weekend Masses on May 19/20 and May 26/27. Please plan to purchase tickets in advance, as they are less expensive for you and the percentage of profit for the parish is greater on advance sale tickets! You may also purchase advance sale tickets in the parish office from 9 a.m. until 3 p.m., Monday thru Friday, beginning May 14.

The Parish Life Commission will be sponsoring 3 events this summer.

FESTIVAL NEWSSUMMERFEST 2018 – June 1, 2, and 3

Permit #146498NEW THIS YEAR! - Want to help at Summerfest? Why not sponsor a keg? For just $50.00 you or a group can sponsor a keg. During the festival, the name(s) of the individual(s) will be posted on the beer wagon while that keg is being tapped. The $50.00 also includes one free 16 ounce beer at the festival. Contact Angie in the parish center at [email protected] if you are interested in sponsoring a keg no later than May 25.

RAFFLE! Please do your best to turn in as many tickets as possible. Extras are available at all the church doors. The raffle has potential to bring money in from outside the parish, and that is always very helpful. Because the raffle is so important to our success, we are going to provide weekly updates on where we stand. We hope you will help us meet our goal! Last year raffle sales totaled $22,875.00. Our goal this year is to sell as many tickets as we did last year. It will take a lot of effort to match last year’s results. This include all tickets sold prior to and during the festival.

Total tickets sold as of 5/7/2018 $ 4,430.00Same time last year $ 3,400.00Goal $ 22,875.00

If only ½ of our households turned in $100 in ticksts $ 48,000.00

This year we are again very fortunate to have not one but two beautiful pieces of stained glass art donated to us to be raffled off. The winner gets first choice. The artist has spent over $400, two trips to Nashville, IN, one trip to North Vernon, and many, many hours putting them together. 100% of the proceeds go to Little Flower.

Because of your generosity last year, we raised $2300 and hope to reach $3000 this year. CAN YOU HELP??? Will you help?? Tickets are very reasonable, and the more you spend, the more free tickets you get.

6 For $5.00---13 for $10.00---28 for $20.00---75 for $50.00 and anything in between will get you the appropriate amount of tickets.

Please send a check made out to Little Flower (will take cash but prefer a check), and mail it to Steve Wright at 915 N Hawthorne Lane, Indianapolis, IN 46219. The drawing is on Sunday, June 3, at 4 PM at the closing of the silent auction. You do NOT have to be present to win, but please enclose your phone number so we can call you when YOU win. We will ship if necessary.

Shirts ordered in advance will be available for pick up after Masses on the weekend of May 19/20 and May 26/27.

A limited selection of shirts will be available for sale at $10.00 each.Donations are being accepted for the “Little Flowers” plant booth. They are looking for any kinds of potted plants or starts, soil, pots, etc., and would appreciate them being marked with what they are and any care notes. You may drop your donations outside the parish center on May 30 or 31, or call Katie Baecher at 317-504-7937 for pick up. Pick up will take place shortly before the festival.
