PERFORMANCE REVIEWS AND REWARD SYSTEMS FOR SCRUM
The problem with role-based job descriptions that discourage cross-functionality is exacerbated when individual performance reviews occur (at least annually, sometimes more often). The review usually lists all of the attributes associated with one narrowly described job role and normally includes "goals" for the individual set during a prior review. These goals tend to focus on an individual's contribution and ignore how individuals should instead contribute to the success of a collective Scrum team.
