Scuba Diver Review Game By Catherine Slight and Lin Pearson How can we engage kids in discussion about marine pollution? This printable game is a starting point. You bring your own review quiz questions, and we supply the fun visuals! Will the team pick a card with exotic fish, shells, or polluting rubbish? The game is full of sur- prise bonus points. Just add your own quiz questions to enjoy this fun way of thinking about a serious matter. Instructions Preparation 1. Print out all the pages of illustrations. 2. Cut out the number cards and the underwater items from the printed sheet. 3. Laminate, or cover with sticky plastic each individual item. 4. Mount the underwater items onto a background. You may need to put them in rows to get them all on! Blu-Tac, or some other reusable adhesive would do, or magnetic strip, if you have a magnetic board. 5. Now place a number card over each underwater item. Again, a small blob of BluTac does the job well. Note: the reason why the number cards are separate from the items is that they can be jumbled up to play the game another time. That way the children won’t become familiar with what is behind the numbers.

How can we engage kids in discussion about marine pollution? This printable game is a starting point. You bring your own review quiz questions, and we supply the fun visuals!

Will the team pick a card with exotic fish, shells, or polluting rubbish? The game is full of sur-prise bonus points. Just add your own quiz questions to enjoy this fun way of thinking about a serious matter.

InstructionsPreparation

1. Print out all the pages of illustrations. 2. Cut out the number cards and the underwater items from the printed sheet. 3. Laminate, or cover with sticky plastic each individual item. 4. Mount the underwater items onto a background. You may need to put them in rows to get

them all on!

How to Play

1. Ask a question on the lesson. If a child answers correctly, they receive points for their team (say 50) and then they choose a number card to see how much of a bonus they get.

2. Bonuses are collected by the child choosing a number, which is taken off, leaving the under-water item behind on the display board. Depending on what the item is, bonuses are added to the team’s score. No bonus is added if rubbish is found.

3. Bonuses are suggested on the printout and you might like to cut out and laminate that page as a permanent reminder to you and for all to see as they play the review game.

4. The winner is the team with the most points after all the items have been revealed, or when time is up.
