Sealants that transfer heat! These sealants are valuable tools to have in your shop. They cure quickly to save you time between the
repair and pressure-testing. And our sealants conduct heat, eliminating the complications of uneven heat transfer.
LHC724 works well with cast iron, steel, brass and stainless steel. LHC724 has a very low viscositywhich lets the fluid flow into small pores and voids with vigorous capillary action. This provides extra insurancethat your repair will pass pressure-testing the first time. Permanent dependable repairs are possible!
LHC623 is formulted to be used with aluminum, the installation of seats and guides in aluminum heads, and during the installation of locks in any material. LHC623 is slightly thicker than LHC724 because of anadditive that prevents the aluminum from galling. You will appreciate the way this additive lubricates your press-fit parts. You can eliminate freezing seats and heating heads before seat installation. Apply LHC623 and the seatscan be driven into place. No magic, just good products.
Improve heat transfer by filling small voids with micron-sized, thermally-conductive particles
Improve stitching pin thread seal
Seal and retain valve seat inserts-improved heat transfer will increase valve and seat life
Seal and retain cylinder sleeves, bolt hole sleeves, injector tubes, water-cooled valve guides, freeze plugs or any other parts which require a positive seal and heat transfer
Easy to use one-part anaerobic cures in the absence of oxygen
Air space in bottle prevents curing before you use the sealant

Power tapping is at least 5 times faster than hand tapping.
Power tapping creates better threaded holes because it avoids the side pressure that is common to hand tapping.
The speed of power tapping can make repairing longer cracks profitable.Pneumatic works better than electric for tapping because pneumatic won’t coast after you release the trigger. (Coasting increases the risk of tap breakage.)

Right Right Angle Angle Tooling
With all the new capability at your fingertips for repairing cracks, the crucial question has changed from “Howam I going to repair this?” to one simple query: “Is there enough space for my hands and the tools?” Most of you havediscovered that your repair limitations are now coming from physical and environmental considerations rather thantechnical capability.
We’re introducing a line of close quarters right angle tooling you may find very useful when working in tightspots. The new RA line will help you access cracks in hard-to-reach areas such as cylinder bores and other places wherestandard drills and taps are too long.
The RA1310AH drill and RA2A2551 driver are for high production. The RA0080 drill adapter and theRA5009 air ratchet are less expensive tools for those who only want to make a few repairs.

ThrThread Repairead Repair InserInserts
42
Cracked bolt holes and spark plug threads have always been difficult torepair because of the spreading force exerted when the bolt, stud orspark plug is torqued. Standard thread repair inserts and coils are oftenineffective in these situations. They can even make the problem worseby removing material around the threaded hole. SpiralhookTM repairinserts restore both the needed strength and new threads at the sametime. Torquing the bolt, stud, or spark plug into the insert pulls up onthe insert, increases the load on the SpiralhookTM threads and adds to theradial drawing force of the threads. The next seven pages present thecurrent thread repair insert sizes we have created with the incredibleSpiralhookTM threads. If the size you need isn’t here, give us a call. Weare always working on new products–one of them may be just what youneed! Say goodby to threaded hole problems!

Cast IrCast Iron on Welding elding pros and consos and cons
• Cast iron requires preheat temperatures over 900°F to prevent expansion/contraction stress and to allow slow cool down to prevent hardening.• The LNS metal stitching process is so sophisticated that welding and brazing are only required when build-up is necessary.• With proper preheating, welding and brazing will never, never crack – never!
If a crack ever forms in or near the weld deposit, the preheattemperature was too low.
If the area adjacent to the weld deposit gets hard, the weldcooled too fast.
Cold welding anywhere on a casting other than a corner oran ear will result in expansion and contraction stressand will eventually crack.
The welding rod, manufacturer, process, or procedure willnever overcome the natural properties of cast ironand allow for low temperature welding.
High temperature preheat means above 900° F.In all but a few cases, electric welding on cast iron is the
worst thing you could possibly do.Electric welding usually causes additional cracking. The hardening caused by electric welding will prevent the
drilling and tapping required by metal stitching. High temperature fusion welding and furnace brazing with an
acetylene torch have become the industry standard.
A high temperature oven is required to preheat castings to allow proper stress relieving and annealing of the weld deposit. Both hightemperature fusion welding and furnace brazing deliver strong, stress-free and pressure-tight repairs.
Fusion welding requires melting the base metal into a puddle and adding cast iron filler material. Preheat to 1300° to 1500° isrequired.Distortion occurs in the immediate area surrounding the weld deposit and re-machining is required. Fusion welding most closelyresembles spot-casting. Cylinder heads and other small dense castings are good examples of castings that can be repaired by fusionwelding.
The same type of oven is used to preheat for furnace brazing. Preheating to 900° to 1100° is sufficient for stress relieving as the basemetal is not melted. The advantages of brazing are less distortion than fusion welding and the ability to add steel straps, gussets andstiffeners. Excellent machinability, strength that exceeds that of cast iron, and hardness and thermal expansion equivalence to cast ironmake brazing a very attactive choice for hot repairs to castings.
Severe cracking caused by electric welding Intricately machined castings like this gear boxare good candidates for furnace brazing.
