Are you wanting to learn more about our faith? Are you just sitting in your car waiting for your kids to get out of religious education classes? Take that leap of faith because we have something for you. We are excited to announce this years’ theme for the Adult Faith Formation classes. We will be studying Jeff Cavins’, Acts: The Spread of the Kingdom. Acts: The Spread of the Kingdom, builds on The Bible Timeline and Matthew by showing how Christ›s Kingdom on earth is empowered to carry out His work in the world. The book of Acts shows the Church, enlivened by the Holy Spirit, teaching, preaching, healing, and restoring outcasts in the same way that Jesus did on earth. The Acts of the Apostles provides a historic framework for understanding the rest of the New Testament. Paul’s letters in particular come alive in a new way when they are read within the context of the Acts narrative. This will be offered on Wednesday evening at 6:45 p.m. in English with Anna Lara in the Knights of Columbus room (PAC301) and in Spanish with Art Lara in room 208 in the Education building.

On Sundays, we will have a Spanish session at 9:45 a.m. in room 208 of the Education Building, on Dios Te Salve, Reina Y Madre: La Biblia y La Virgen Maria presented by Martha Calderon. Currently, we are seeking a Catechist to present Acts: The Spread of the Kingdom program in English.

This is open to everyone come join us for this year’s Adult Faith Formation Program. Classes will begin the week of September 24th and follow the RE calendar for the year. For more information please contact the RE Office.

CLERICAL ENDOWMENT FUND

Santa Cruz Church, Buda, Texas Trigésimo Primer Domingo del Tiempo Ordinario

Dear parishioners,

We are blessed with the Chapel of our parish. The Chapel is dedicated to daily Mass and to perpetual Eucharistic adoration. Many people from our parish and beyond spend time in quiet prayer and they draw strength and comfort from the real presence of Our Lord in the Blessed Sacrament. The Chapel was carefully and lovingly designed to promote prayer. It is simply arranged, and the visual centerpiece is the host surrounded by golden rays.

Frequently, people place flowers in the Chapel either on the floor or the windowsills. This is a distraction to prayer especially when the flowers begin the decline and the person who is seeking to engage in prayer is distracted by wilting flowers. Also, persons with allergies are unable to make use of the Chapel because of reactions. With this in mind, I ask that flowers/plants no longer be placed in the Chapel. Let us keep this sacred space exclusively for prayer.

I truly appreciate all those who have placed flowers as a tribute of devotion to the Blessed Sacrament. In place of these physical floral tributes, a holy tradition exists in the Church called: the spiritual bouquet. This is the offering of prayer, as one would offer flowers. The holy angels bring these spiritual bouquets into the gardens of Heaven where they delight all of the blessed spirits who await us.

A spiritual bouquet is a collection of prayers and sacrifices offered by a person for their own sake or for the sake of others who are either living or deceased.

May the Immaculate Heart of Mary and the glorious Patriarch Saint Joseph offer our prayers and keep the memory of them alive in us all the days of our lives. Amen.

Your Pastor,

Father David.

LETTER FROM OUR PASTOR/CARTA DE NUESTRO PARROCO

Queridos Feligreses,

Padre David.
