EARTH

AT NO MEAT

APRIL 23RD IS MEATLESS MONDAY

Why EAT MEATLESS?

- the rainforest is a natural resource that is being threatened today by the increased production of livestock: every second of every day one football field of rainforest is being destroyed

- the meat industry is a major cause of fresh water depletion

- of all water used for all purposes in Canada, more than half goes to livestock production

- pollution of our water and air are a result of a meat-eating diet

Monday, April 23rd

In partnership with Chef & the Caf program, the Caferteria will only be offering vegetarian options on MONDAY

One of our initiatives was to reduce meat consumption in Seaquam Secondary

Through the documentary we were able to educate the Seaquam community on the effects of meat production and consumption on the environment

During the event, we offered an array of delicious vegetarian snacks to highlight how simple finding alternatives to meat can be

This was a successful event as it was greatly praised by both teachers and students!

OP GREEN RAIN GARDEN

Mission: to change the human environment for the better by introducing a new natural habitation and begin filtering rain water; the progress of this project ultimately serves as a symbol of possibilities and collaboration amongst students, staff and the community in a student-initiated project.
