State: the platypus is a carnivore and eat small water invertebrates
Family life
The platypus will lay up to one to three eggs year
The gestation for a platypus is 28 days
They are born 10 days after the gestation period
The platy pus will care for the young for 3-4 months
When the platypus was first encountered by European naturalists, they were divided over whether the female laid eggs. This was not confirmed until 1884 when was sent to Australia where, after extensive searching assisted by a team of 150 Aborigines, he managed to discover a few eggs.[11][25] Mindful of the high cost per word of wiring England, Caldwell famously but tersely wired London, "Monodramas oviparous, ovum ceroplastic." That is, monodramas lay eggs, and the eggs are similar to those of reptiles in that only part of the egg divides as it develops.
Family life
Platypus’ are solitary animals, but do tend to share small bodies of water. Males and females are differentiated by the males having a sharp hollow spur on their hind legs which join to a gland in the groin which produces a venom capable of causing great pain and incapacity in humans and can be lethal to small mammals.
Social behavior
characteristicsthe platy pus is shy and wary
it looks like a Mole or otter, with a beavers flattened tail and a duck's bill. It also has short, powerful legs and webbed feet. While the fur on its back is dense, bristly, and reddish or blackish brown, the fur on its underbelly is soft and gray. Its eyes are very small, and it does not have external ears. The platypus measures around 17.7 in (45 cm) in length, with its tail adding an additional 5.9 in (15 cm). Commonly referred to as the duck-billed platypus, it spends several hours each day in the creeks and rivers of eastern Australia and Tasmania. The rest of its time is spent in burrows, which it digs in the river banks.

History and present status
The Australian Platypus Conservancy is a non-government, non-profit organization dedicated to conserving the platypus and its freshwater habitats. The Conservancy conducts a wide range of platypus field studies and tries to ensure that its research findings are linked to improved practical management of waterways.
More work is needed to identify the factors that are affecting platypus survival throughout their range. Platypus Care has been formulated as a key element to help achieve this end. By initiating action now, before platypus numbers decline critically, we can all help to secure the future of this very remarkable mammal.
Relation to humans
The platypus was endangered beaus Many years ago, hunters killed the platypus for it's fur. If too many hunters kill platypus in large numbers they will be extinct. Also, if too many rivers and creeks get dammed up with concrete the platypus will be extinct. I feel mad because the people who make buildings are putting concrete over the platypus' shelter or home. But not anymore.
