Brothers and Sisters,
ALLELUIA, CHRIST IS RISEN!!! THE LORD IS RISEN INDEED, ALLELUIA!!!!
I greet you in this wonderful Eastertide! This is such a wonderful time of year where we rejoice in the hope and joy that Jesus brings to us through his resurrection. That hope is that no matter what may come in our lives we are surrounded with love, and are guided by God through our lives. This is also a wonderful time to see family, friends, and those we might not see very often.
Easter is also an opportunity to really see the power of God’s work in our lives. I was amazed to watch how many hands are needed to help bring our best for Easter. As usual with St. Edward’s, the need was shared and the response was wonderful. Thank you all so very much for your help and support to make this the best Holy Week and Easter!! I am writing also to ask your feedback on the services. The Vestry, Dcn. Morris, Tami, and I are constantly looking on how we can make things better; and we need your feedback to continue this work. Please feel free to talk with me or send an email to [email protected] with any feedback you have.
As we continue into Spring (no matter what the thermostat says!) we have our largest fundraiser — the Plant Sale. This fundraiser accounts for 10% of our operating budget, and we need all the help we can get to be able to make it a great success. I invite you to please sign up on the sheets that are in the gathering area or to also just show up as your schedule allows; there is always something to do (learn more on the opposite page).
The plant sale also helps us meet our neighbors. There are many who come to the plant sale, that we get to meet and learn more about what is the dynamic of our community. We can also learn what might be the needs of our community and where we have the potential to help.
I thank you all for your continued work and ministry at St. Edward’s. I am so honored and thankful to be your Rector.
Peace in the Risen Christ,
The Rev. Jason B. LucasRector

Plant Sale information and opportunities to helpSunday, May 7 Tables from the church (and other miscellaneous
furniture are moved to the tents immediately after church.
Monday, May 8 Tents and green are set up for the start of the sale.
Tuesday, May 9 Plants are delivered around 1:00 pm — much help needed with unloading trucks, organizing plants, doing inventory, etc.
Wednesday, May 10 In the morning, the plants are further organized, with the sale opening at noon. This is usually a big day, with about half of the plants being purchased at that time. Lots of help needed.
Thursday, May 11 Sale on from 9:00 - 6:00. Help always needed with being a cashier, doing carry-out, water-ing plants as needed, cleaning up, etc.
Friday, May 12 Same as Thursday.
Saturday, May 13 Sale runs from 9:00 - 2:00 — same tasks as Thursday. At this time we will decide whether to run the sale for a second week. We suspect that we will want to do this, as in the past we have made an additional $3,000. If we do this, we will have shortened hours on Wednesday, Thursday, Friday ,and Saturday.
Sunday, May 14 After church — The sale is open from 9:00 - noon.
We look forward to seeing everyone at the sale — and we encourage all of you to tell neighbors about this wonderful event!

Outreach UpdatesIn April the Outreach Committee delivered 29 Easter baskets to IOCP for them to deliver to their clients. Thanks for everyone’s help!
We continue to give a parishioner a weekly ride to the grocery store.
We also provided a meal to the people at Vicks-burg Commons — this was for about 30 people. After dinner some Vicksburg parents had a meet-ing with some of the staff from the local high school; it is hoped that this format can continue in the future.
In May, we will provide a breakfast on May 20 for people involved in the Families Moving Forward project, which will be meeting at St. Phillip the Deacon Lutheran Church.
In the recent past, St. Edward’s has also provided meals for EpiscoBuilders projects.
Please contact Jeff Dow if you are interested in participating in some outreach at St. Edward’s.

Therefore confess your sins to one another, and pray for one another, so that you may be healed. The prayer of the righteous is powerful and effective. ~ James 5:16
We will include these names within our liturgy in Prayers of the People, but it is our hope that you will use this list to pray for each other all month long. Prayers for friends and family are always welcomed. Please speak to Judy Starkey or Jo Vail. Intercessory prayers are read on Wednesday mornings.
NOTE: To add to or update the prayer list, please contact either Judy Starkey or the church office (952.473.2262, [email protected]). A person’s name will be removed from the Prayers of the People after 30 days, unless renewed at that time.

A Memorial Day PrayerHeavenly Father, our nation remembers today those in the military
who have given their lives for freedoms we enjoy. Accept them, Lord, into your heavenly country, where they may be surrounded by your internal love. And bless their families: grant them your loving protection and care.
Let us live lives that honor their sacrifices.
Be with all who are serving, or have served, in our Armed Forces. There are many ways of falling in battle: some lives are given in death, other lives are broken in body, mind or spirit.
Wherever these lives need your spirit to help get them through, we pray you would have us all look to you for strength, comfort and guidance, to be with them in their journey.
Let peace prevail among all the nations, O God. Especially let your mercy rest upon the earth, even as we acknowledge with thanksgiving your past goodness on this country.
Most of all, we pray that you would turn the hearts of all — military and civilian — to your Word where we find the true peace that surpasses all understanding. Keep us repentant of sin. Move us to
know, take hold and treasure your saving grace. In the name of Jesus, our Savior and Your beloved Son, who alone gives this peace and hope for eternity, we pray. Amen.
