Colorectal Screening Intervention

Colorectal Screening Intervention

• A randomized controlled trial was conducted with Chinese patients to evaluate a clinic-based intervention promoting FOBT.

• The multifaceted intervention included a bicultural health educator, bilingual materials (including a video and pamphlet), and FOBT cards.

• 70% of the intervention group and 28% of the control group completed FOBT within six months of randomization (p<0.001).

Colorectal Screening Intervention

• Cancer Control Dissemination to Asian Americans adapted the intervention for Vietnamese and is implementing it at an AAPCHO clinic.

• Using Digital Stories to Improve Colorectal Cancer Screening in Native Americans will adapt the intervention for American Indians and implement it at an urban IHS clinic.

• Dissemination through Community Health Centers Serving Diverse Populations will provide information to guide dissemination of the intervention to clinics throughout the AAPCHO system.

Workplace Solutions

• Workplace Solutions is an approach to disseminating evidence-based best practices to employers.

• Employers receive an intervention that includes an assessment of their current implementation of best practices (addressing topics such as colorectal cancer screening and physical activity), tailored recommendations for improvement, and implementation support.

• The approach was pilot-tested with eight large businesses in the Pacific Northwest.

• After one year, there was a significant improvement in the employers’ overall implementation of best practices (p<0.05).

Workplace Solutions

• Marketing Workplace Chronic Disease Prevention was a group-randomized controlled trial to test the intervention among low-wage, mid-sized employers.

• National Dissemination of ACS Workplace Solutions is creating a web-based version of the intervention and will link employers with ACS staff to support their implementation efforts.

• Workplace Health Promotion: Reaching Workers and Their Partners will provide information to guide expansion of the intervention to reach employees' partners.
