WELCOME TO KUALA LUMPUR

More than just a capital city, Kuala Lumpur – KL to its friends – is a monument to Malaysian ingenuity and determination. Every inch the Asian cyber-city, historic temples and mosques rub shoulders with space-age towers and shopping malls.

For a spectacular view and to map out your expedition into the city, head to the observation deck of the KL Tower. Grab a seat in the revolving restaurant and enjoy the view a little longer.

Whether you choose to take in the foodie delights of Changkat Bukit Bintang or the chic well-heeled areas of Jalan Bukit Bintang or Bangsar, KL is a city waiting to be explored. This guide offers just a few ideas for your stay: some ‘must see’ landmarks and some suggestions for the more adventurous. Enjoy!

FIRST RACE

15000009000005.5421999

1– PETRONAS TOWERS–This 40 hectare development forms the focal point of KL city centre. Boasting a tropical park, aquarium, concert hall and one of the best shopping malls in KL, the highlight has to be accessing the skydeck that connects the twin towers.

4– GOLDEN TRIANGLE –Just south of the Petronas Towers at the intersection of Jalan Sultan Ismail and Jalan Bukit Bintang is the heart of the Golden Triangle, KL’s premier business, shopping and entertainment area.

3– BATU CAVES –It is well worth grabbing a taxi out to Gombak district for an explosion of colour at this sacred Hindu shrine. The world’s tallest statue of Murugan, a Hindu deity, is located outside the caves. It’s a 272-step climb to the main temple cave... or you can take the new train.

2– CHINATOWN–KL’s centre for multiculturalism! Trawl the shops for bargains, eat at the hawker stalls on Madras Lane and enjoy the night markets along Jalan Petalin in the evening.

Buzzing with energy, KL’s districts are distinct. Offering exciting experiential clashes, you can take a step back into Malaysia’s colonial history or glimpse the exciting future of this regional hub; sample traditional hawker foods or taste the latest in culinary culture.

For a historical kick, head to Asian Heritage Row – its converted shophouses host a range of bars and restaurants in which to soak up the city’s vibe before taking in the sensory onslaught of the night market. Or, to grasp the ambition of this city, take a stroll through Jalan Ampang’s glass and steel lined street, all under the shadow of the magnifi cent Petronas Towers.
