A Holistic Education for
Merahans - LEAPS 2.0
CCA Orientation 2020
OVERVIEW
• Importance of CCA / CCA Policy
• CCAs in BMSS
• CCA Grading System
Importance of CCAs
• CCAs : Co-Curricular Activities
• CCAs are a major feature and an integral part of school life.
• CCAs play a major role in the holisticdevelopment of our students.
• Cognitive, Physical / Social, Moral and Aesthetics
Role of CCAs in Education
“CCAs play a significant role in the holistic development
of our pupils. CCAs are an integral part of school curriculum
and complements formal education. CCAs inculcate sound
moral values in our pupils. They build strength of
character and foster camaraderie. CCA programmes in
schools offer pupils opportunities to develop life-long
interest/love for a particular activity be it sports or musical
pursuit. This helps pupils to lead a balanced life in
adulthood”
Mr Ong Lye Huat
Former Deputy Director
CCAB
CCA CONFERENCE
• “CCAs play an integral role in the education as they develop life skills that matter long after a student has forgotten his theorems, hypotheses and history”
• “If CCAs have been important in the past, it will be more important in times to come, because it cultivates important key (character) traits our young need to succeed in the complex and changing future”
Tharman Shanmugaratnam
Minister for Education
UGs CONFERENCE
• “More than 30% of the total student population in secondary schools are in the UGs. This is encouraging because the UGs have always been excellent channel for developing our students holistically.”
• “UGs provide diverse and challenging activities …. they nurture minds that keep inquiring, and a willingness to lead and work hard to achieve their dreams.”
Tharman Shanmugaratnam
Minister for Education
