Installation Benefits of Secant Piles

Using dedicated piling rigs, secant pile walls are formed by constructing two types of overlapping piles. ‘Soft’ piles are constructed at set intervals before ‘hard’ piles are cut into the unreinforced set, forming a continuous structure. Soft piles are often constructed using a lower strength of concrete to speed up construction, with these piles ultimately acting as a seal between the hard load bearing piles.

Secant PilesOur Secant piles offer an effective solution for constructing retaining walls, basements and foundations on water charged or difficult ground. By constructing retaining walls through a series of overlapping contiguous flight auger (CFA) piles, we are able to create a finished watertight permanent wall that requires no additional wall system to be built in front.

We provide a full complement of quality assurance documentation and certification for the wide variety of projects we undertake. All of our piling and retention systems are designed by our expert team of in-house engineers using Australian standards. We provide engineering certificates that cover the design and construction of our works and all constructions are documented to provide full traceability of the materials and dimensions of all constructed elements.

In 2013 we were awarded the Fluor Safety Excellence Award for our work on the Santos Gladstone Liquefied Natural Gas (GLNG) Upstream Project. Between February 1st 2011 and May 12th 2013 we were responsible for delivering 5,000,000 work hours without a lost time incident; something that to this day we are extremely proud about.
