Dr. Ravi Sharma
Principal
I am happy to note that the theme of college‟s newsletter is „PRAGATI- a step towards excellence‟. This publication is thus not just to
show case the varied activities of/ by the faculty and the students but also to provide an opportunity to each one of them to sharpen their writing skills which has no boundaries for improvement and can be excelled to an
infinite limit. Good and effective communication skills, verbal or written, have enabled people scaling great heights in whatever occupation/ vocation
they may have been and in achieving success in their respective goals. Knowledge and performance without effective communication skills does not yield success for most in life. Effective communication is thus vital for
converting your performance into success and thus plays an indispensable role in all walks of life.
In this new issue of your newsletter, I wish to appeal to one and all to
consciously attempt further in the direction of improving both oral/verbal
and written communication skills, which in my experience and perception
would ensure success and excellence for each one of us in this
competitive world. I wish all of you my good wishes for the same and
also vow myself to effectively contribute for the same.
In the year 2011, Shri Mahaveer Digamber Jain Shiksha Parishad sprang
its wings to provide an education in character building leadership, extra and co-curricular activities along with academics along with a very strong
,dedicated and capable team of educators who became the driving force in the growth of the college.
The college has the privilege of having a healthy, harmonious ambience
and rich values which have played pivotal role in shaping the future of
innumerable students.
Our mission is to transform students into rational thinkers, competant
workers, law abiding citizens and spritually enlightened individuals.
This is my firm belief that the rich values and traditions imbibed here
would carry you to greater heights.
It is rightly said that "a dream becomes a goal when action is taken
towards its achievements "and we are committed in taking constructive
and purposeful actions to produce optimistic, independent,
compassionate, life long learners and leaders who will bring glory to the
college, state and Nation.

The Power of Contribution
Let me begin by telling you, "What we give
determines what we receive". Human beings with, a natural tendency to amass more
and more, forget that giving is the key to receiving. Making a
contribution, of any kind, is equal to making one's existence
useful, and get appreciated in the huge cosmos of living beings.
After all, the world is surviving because of certain contributions
from every entity, be it natural or manmade. The sun contributes
energy, and flora contributes oxygen and food, the fauna
contributes the balance of the eco system and human beings,
above all, collectively contribute towards the maintenance and
sustenance of society.
The most important thing to remember is that the
contribution can be of any kind. It need not necessarily be
monetary in nature. One can contribute knowledge, services,
time, energy, ideas or even one's old books. There is no
dearth of people seeking help in some or the other way, but
unfortunately, there is an appalling dearth of people, who
despite being self sufficient, do not contribute.
The power of contribution emerges from the
changes it creates. The illiterate could learn to read and
write if knowledge is contributed, a start-up could scale
new heights if money is contributed, a disaster wrecked
country could stand again if assistance and supplies are
contributed and a better world can always be realized if
peace, love, humanity are continuously contributed.
One must do it simply by the virtue of being
a human. This is not a trade, rather a tradition
which promotes overall development. The only pleasure one should seek to
experience by contributing is of satisfaction-the
satisfaction of having made a
difference in the large and
complex world in one's own
little, yet significant way. You too can do it. Contribute and experience
the joy of selfless giving.

Smile
Wear the simplest and the strongest expression - SMILE
SMILE-A Five letter word enclosing the most craved
human feeling -'happiness' ,a word which makes you look
more beautiful and an expression ,simplest yet the strongest. Smiling, like all other things we do, is an act, and we
must do it as often as possible. It not only shows that we feel
good, the act of smiling in itself helps us feel better. The more
we smile, the better we feel. Smile is one such expression
which has a universal meaning. Regardless of any other
physical features of a human being a smile has the natural
effect of making one look good. The contagious nature of
smiling spreads it like a healthy infection. It throws out
positive vibes, instantly making the person likeable.
Science itself has admitted to the powerful effects of
smiling through its numerous researches. Unfortunately,
adults do not realize it. While a toddler smiles approximately
400 times a day, an average adult smiles only 20 times or
even less. As administrators, teachers, principals, parents,
alumni and students, we all stand at various stages in our
lives. Our experiences have shaped us in many ways. But
being bitter or hard should not be one of them. Smiling is a
way of building and exhibiting a congenial personality. Most
importantly, smiling can strengthen our relationships, both
inside and outside the confines of the educational institutions.
A greeting with a smile, a start to the presentation
with a smile, an address to the audience with a smile- smile
has a little place to occupy everywhere in our daily lives. Do not mistake smiling for flippancy or lack of
seriousness. It is indeed a sign of strength and acceptance.
People who smile the most learn to accept the world for what
it is and do not let its harshness affect them. They are
confident and mentally strong. They believe in approaching everybody with well-
meaning kindness. They choose
happiness as a state of mind, and
the first step to that state is smile! A stretch on your face can
simply change a lot of things.
Try it for yourself. Smile

THE LAST YEAR
Time passes by rather too fast. It seems as it was just yesterday that i stepped first into this esteem institution and
now its almost the time to bid adieu. Over the past three years it has practically became the integral part of my life, my
second home. The more I think of it, the more it hurts to acknowledge the truth. Despite knowing the fact there is no way I
can go back and relive these golden days. I get a strange feeling I realised that I will not only miss my friends or the people
around but also miss this person that I am at this very moment , because in near future I will never be
the same. So I decided to pendown my thoughts and express my love and gratitude towards the
teachers who are more like friends in disguise, towards those idiotic people who are my partners in
crimes and I call them as my friends and last but not the least towards helpful and friendly batch of
juniors, they say you realise the value of something only when you are on the verge of loosing it and I
am no different So here I am now with a heavy heart and lots of beautiful memories to cherish and
preparing myself for moving ahead in life . just wanted to thank each and every one of you who made
my college life a memorable one. In end I would like to conclude by apologizing to everyone of you if I
ever made a mistake and hurt you in any way possible. Good luck and love you all !!
Manvendra Pratap
In childhood, they taught us 1 face, 2 hands, 2 eyes, 2 ears, but... They were wrong about the face, they are 2. People are good at one face and will stab you at the other. This is Hypocrisy. Traditional is the gap between saree and blouse of 6 inch,
and same is sluttish between jeans and top of 1 inch! Women, who fight for gender equality, will also be
pleased to hear, “Ladies First please”! “We are friends” you said, when I was your need, but you are not I need you, such a poor deed! This is life, one big hypocrite. In school, when we were young, we learned to respect
others and treat everyone equal,
but those who taught us this are the ones who choose
favorite students! In classroom, by the teachers, maybe some of us are not equal! They are hypocrites! Yes, I am a hypocrite… I tell people to live, to have self
worth, to never give up, to be happy,
but, I cannot even do it myself!
So, I am a pretender or a liar?? No, I am not a hypocrite, I am just
paradoxical.
Hypocrisy is in our blood, false virtues, dishonesty, duplicity,
and no signs of sincerity!

I GROW OLDER……..
The book that I keep by my bed, are full of your stories
and the memories of my life. I read them when it grows
warm. Each page has a face and a stone with a
memory attached to cast at me while I read but cannot
keep me away. I grow older everyday
while the world younger, and the
stories never change. In them exists
an eternity of sharp crinkles and worn
spines, lost pages and stained ink.
They keep my hand company as I
wait for the peace of the cold.

Freedom of Speech
54 attacks on journalists, 3 news channels banned,
45 internet shutdowns and 45 sedition cases in 2016.
This is the sad state of freedom of speech in India.
Growing up I was taught that India is the world‟s
largest democracy and that our constitution gives its
citizen the freedom of speech; I thought that was
wonderful, what could be better than a country giving
its people the right to express themselves however they
want. But as I dove deeper into this subject, I realised
that the reality was far gloomier. Even on paper,
provisions such as IPC Section 124a handicap our
freedom to speak freely with the threat of life in prison.
Let‟s consider a popular counterargument, which
says that free speech should not offend others
feelings and beliefs. The problem with this argument
is that feeling offense is something so subjective that
it defeats the possibility of creating a clear and
unabgious legal standard. Any law to curtail absolute
freedom of speech will lead to its misuse.
In a world where people will go out of their way to be
offended by anything and everything, where do we draw
the line and more importantly, who should be responsible
for making that decision. The question that arises is who
in this entire world should be assigned the responsibility of
deciding what we can or can not hear, what we can or can
not say to express our individuality.
Social reforms such as putting an end to slavery
and giving women the right to vote were offensive ideas
to the masses when they were first proposed but they
are considered as hallmarks of social progress today.
And as I mentioned earlier, we already have laws
that censor and suppress people and to what effect?
India is one of the “least free” countries on the 2017
World Press Freedom Index, 136 out of 180 to be
exact. To put that into perspective, India ranks
behind countries like Nigeria and Afghanistan.
One may wonder - What about the people who say
obviously false and misleading statements, should they be
allowed to speak about their ideas in public as well? I
would say yes, because them saying such things in public
gives us the opportunity to dissect their argument and
show the world how wrong they are but If we censor them,
not only will we fail to expose the people who
hold such beliefs but we also end up isolating
the world from the existence such ideas. We
maybe able to control what people can say but
it's impossible to control what they think.
In a diverse and multicultural world such as ours, it is of paramount importance to discuss, criticize and open our mind to new opinions and ideas
because when we try to end
intolerance by censoring those
who we don‟t agree with, we end
up becoming intolerant ourselves.
To summarize, the famous quote by
Evelyn Hall comes to mind -- “I do not
agree of what you say, but I will defend
to the death your right to say it.”
DON’T GIVE UP
When the water is above your
head and there is no one to help,
When the trouble comes all the
way, and there are problems all
day. Don‟t give up.
Because, success comes to
those, a hard way, which
chase Rivers may dry
but you have to still go by.
Autumn may knock on your
door but you have to travel
more. Waves may run off
shore and can take away the
humanity you wave
But still don‟t give up.
Winners are the one who know their path
Losers are the one who lose them apart
Try and try until you reach.
The door of success beneath
your feet, sun may set in the sky,
Tears may come as a sigh
But don‟t give up…
Until you have something to give

Before starting B.COM (Hons.) at Mahaveer
College of Commerce, the thought of beginning life
at college in a completely new environment had
always made us very apprehensive. We started
with mixed emotions of excitement & anxiety.
While meeting new people was very exciting. Our
three years at MCC have been a transformational
journey from a „trainee into a gentleman‟. We feel such
change in ourselves & this is only because of MCC.
Each & every faculty of Mahaveer College of
Commerce is co-operative. They not only helped us in
study but also moulded our personality & clarified our
vision of future. All the experiences in MCC has
inculcated in us to become an independent leader. The
diversity in the MCC has also improved our social skills,
teaching us how to work efficiently in a diverse team &
get along with people from all works of life.
Our journey at Mahaveer College of Commerce
(MCC) has been a memorable one & we are grateful
to it for giving us memories,we will cherish for life.

Health
is
wealth
Health is wealth in the sense that all the wealth of any
sort that one wants to possess can be achieved only if
one is healthy! Suppose a man wishes to enjoy his life to
the maximum. For this he requires abundant supply of
resources such as, money, luxuries, company of like-
minded friends, etc. Suppose he has all of these except
health. Do you think he will be able to enjoy life? No, not
at all! Life's luxuries can only be enjoyed only when one is
healthy. A diseased millionaire will not be able to enjoy
half as much as healthy labourer who just manages to
make both ends meet. As life's delicacies can only be
relished in pure health; not in abundant resources. So
ensure your health first, before you go on a wild goose
chase of any other sort of wealth. Some decades ago,
people were strong and healthy because they were used
to walk for long distance and they have to perform every
house hold chores own. In the recent decades, the growth
of technologies in very fast manner has decreased the
man efforts in every walk of life. Earlier, the life of our
grandparents was good and their livelihood was very
healthy because of the hunting, farming, ploughing,
walking, running, etc. Now-a-days, almost every people of
any age group suffer from one or more diseases (like high
blood pressure, heart attack, stress-related disease, etc)
from the starting of life..

“Don’t judge a book by its cover”
Is an old saying that no longer seems to apply. On one hand, we consider ourselves to be a more open and inclusive
society, but on the other, we have an unhealthy obsession with judging others. Through social media we interact with
7.442 billion people . We talk to them chat with them without actually knowing who‟s the person. We stalk them actually it‟s a human nature we stalk their profile and we judge them so easily by looking at their facebook or
instagram profile only. It seems to be the most popular thing to do on social media platforms next to sharing
videos of cute animals. We all know, humans are social creatures who need to blend in. Yes, even if that
means saying and doing things we don‟t actually agree with. Social media itself is to blame.
DON‟T JUDGE ANYONE IN THE WORLD IF YOU DO SO, YOU ARE INSULTING YOURS.

Journey of MCC
The journey of Mahaveer College of Commerce begins in the year 2011, by Shri Mahaveer Digamber Jain Shiksha Parishad with a vision of providing
higher education to the society. Therefore , it took a path breaking initiative by establishing Mahaveer
college of commerce, a co-educational English medium college, affiliated to the University of Rajasthan.
43 students and 6 faculty members and two courses (B.Com & BBA) were the humble beginning of today‟s
proud college. The college is now in the seventh year of imparting higher education with B.Com(P), B.Com
(Hons), BBA and BCA. This year our college became a post graduate college with M.Com (ABST) and
M.Com (HR). The institution always emphasizes on providing best of the resources to its students. The performance of our students
in the university examinations is consistently well and is improving with every passing year. The facilities and quality
education provided by
the college has thus led to the significant increase in the strength of the students. Today our
college stands tall with over 650 students and 16 experienced faculty members.
My Experience @ MCC
MAHAVEER COLLEGE OF COMMERCE is much beyond just an “Institution”…It actually denotes a
“Culture”…Culture of excellence, empowerment, and enrichment. Being a part of MCC, I felt
blessed. The college has molded my personality and clarified my vision of the future. That day is not
far when people will recognize me with the name of MCC and I am very grateful to the Institute for
providing guidelines and motivation to inspire me to achieve my goals. Raghav Gattani
My College days are unforgettable and in fact those days are the most happiest & fruitful days
in my life. I proudly feel that I cherished every moments of my college. Being a”Mccian” make
me feel proud. My experience in MCC was just amazing. I got infinite love & lessons from my
teachers, there teachers made me do “Work Hard” for the way to success. Miss those days of
MCC. Just want to thank to the wonderful faculty of MCC….I am proud to be a Mahaveerian…

Attending College for the first time has been a trying but great experience for me. The way in
which I have grown up, mature, and found out who really I am, is something that I couldn‟t
accomplish without going to college. The feelings of being home sick, the loneliness of not
knowing anyone, the pressure of playing in the college, living with someone you have never
met before, are just some of the struggles of being at college for the first time. Jai Advani
Achievements-applauds, opportunities-thoughts, this is what I gained from Mahaveer College of
Commerce.MCC gave me a platform that I will cherish always. Someday I won and some days I
learned. Right from my winning from Kanoria College to IILM, Gurgaon, MCC always held my back,
from inspiring words of our Principal Sir to petty sweet scolding of our beloved teachers, my life in
Mahaveer College of Commerce was and will be the best experience. I can ever get from my life.
This college let us fall by our own but made us climb on the ladder to success. Vasvi Agnihotri
Firstly, Mahaveer College of Commerce is not a college, it is a brand. It is unique in its
field. Discipline is like in the air of its environment. I am so grateful to be a part of this
college. There are so many opportunities to develop one‟s personality in any field like,
cultural, literature and many more. It was very precious and golden phase of my life. The
entire faculty and other members of this institution are very cooperative. I got a lot of love
and support from my teachers & colleague and it made my 3yrs. memorable for me. Pulkit Sharma
One of the most interesting stages in life that gives you an opportunity to explore is the „college
phase.‟ My experience at MCC has taught me one fundamental thing – life is unpredictable. It
might be good, it might be bad, it might be weird, and it might not interest you, but expect
anything to happen. . It is a perfect blend of joy and hardships. You meet different people, you
interact with them, you learn about their cultures and grow as a person.
