"Some in jersey and other pieces reminiscent of her initial creations she introduced

before ww1.  And of course rows of pearls, chain belts and brooches."

"Fashion inspired by the decades when she was at the height of her fame."

Page 2: Secondary Research

"The war was over, rationing was over, new styles were emerging, and cultural norms

were expanding and changing all the time. Fashion of the 1950s embraced the idea of

‘seen and be seen."

Use for voice overs, has information on vintage styling and vintage designers, gives us

more background on vintage fashion and what people think of it.

Videos & TV

Coco Chanel Vintage Show

when discussing the change in vintage fashion throughout time. Majority of the clip can

be used for the cutaways.

 Vintage Haul

(approx. 2:15, 6:38, 9:53)

Archive footage to support younger generation’s views and opinions on vintage fashion.

This will help us when interviewing the younger generation because we now have some

information about their styles.

This Old Thing

"Dawn meets Bristol girl Chevonne, who refuses to shop anywhere other than the high

street, but is tired of looking the same as everyone else. She takes Chevonne on an epic

shopping trip to demonstrate how vintage is a great way to achieve individual style."

Information for voice overs about shopping for vintage clothes instead of high street

clothes. Use for questions for our interviews.

Newspapers & Books

Vintage Book

"In 1947, after the Second World War, The New Look swished its skirts in reaction to stiff

upper lips, ration books and frugal fashions. Similarly, the ‘don’t mess with me’ wide

shouldered suits and ostentatious jewellery of the 80s contrasted with the ‘let it all hang

out’ free flowing peasant frocks and attitude of the 70s."

"To make matters worse, many of the fashions available on the high street are unoriginal

and of dubious quality. Buying vintage is a good way to avoid mediocrity of the chain

store. It means you can revel in owning a garment carefully made from a quality fabric."

Use information about the fashion, gives us background information we could use for

voiceovers and questions to ask our interviewees.

Forbes  "British philosopher Francis Bacon said, “Fashion is the only attempt to realize art in living forms and social intercourse”. This living form of art holds power – power to control a part of one’s image. A person can play a role, embody a story, or represent an era based on what he or she chooses to wear." Use for voice over on documentary to go with information about peoples individual style.

The Vintage Fashion Comeback

"But where we’ve most seen the trend is in fashion. E-commerce shops like Nasty Gal, ModCloth, and Pinup Girl Clothing predominantly specialize in recreating the styles of the ’50s and ’60s.""But I like to think I formulate my own opinions and tastes on things based on who I am and not solely on what my parents liked when I was a kid. I definitely love the pinup, vintage look, but because it seems everyone likes it too all of a sudden, I’ve finally stopped to really think about what it is about these particular decades that so attracts people."Information about why the change in fashion has happened, can be used in voice overs, questions about the change in fashion of the years.

Vintage British Street Styles

"High-waisted trousers, tight on the hips with the flare starting from the top of the thigh. Platform shoes. Skin-tight shirt with a long collar. Hair growing out of a short crop. There was little creativity in fashion in the mid-1970s and this outfit typified the casual style of the time. "Use for information, specifically about 70’s fashion.
