From the iconic novel by Anthony Burgess, made famous by the controversial Stanley Kubrick film, this hard-hitting stage play is a must-see experience. In a world of high unemployment, state surveillance and fierce repression, the young get their kicks from random violence. Alex is with his gang of droogs in his favourite milkbar, hyping them up for their nightly orgy of opportunistic brutality. But our charismatic delinquent narrator isn’t a straightforward psychopath. His quick wit is dangerously alluring and he has a penchant for classical music, especially Beethoven’s Ninth. As we follow his rehabilitation by the state through extreme psychological conditioning we are left wondering if being forced to be good is in fact more evil than sin itself.

THE CITIzENS THEATRE is committed to providing high quality professional theatre projects for schools. We have an exciting season ahead, with a production of A Clockwork Orange and the world premiere of a new play, The Monster in the Hall, by the hugely successful Scottish playwright david Greig.

We aim to provide support for teachers and to offer opportunities that enrich the theatrical experience for you and your students. We have therefore also scheduled a range of pre-show and post-show discussions and CPD sessions in addition to our autumn productions.

We would be happy to discuss a visit to our venue by your school group at any time. Alternatively we can come and work with you in the classroom.

A low budget indie comedy musical about a girl on the verge of a nervous breakdown played out by four actors and a big fat motorbike which goes vrrooommm. Duck Macatarsney cares for her biker dad whose MS is getting increasingly bad. Her Dad - Duke - is a spliff smoking (for medicinal reasons you understand), bike riding, heavy metal and horror movie loving, pizza eating widower who’s brought up Duck since the death of her Mother in a crash. The two of them are just about surviving when one morning the Duke wakes up blind and the Duck hears that the Social Services are coming to take her away.
