Percents, Decimals and Fractions

You can write any ratio or fraction as a percent.

• Example 1. Real-world problem solving– Forty-five calories in a slice of cheese pizza

are from fat. There are 160 total calories in a slice of cheese pizza. What percent of the calories are from fat?

To write a decimal as a percent, multiply it by 100, or move the

decimal point 2 places to the right.

• Example: 0.45 x 100 (move 2 places)= 45%
