Section 7: Pump 7.1 WATER TANK Complies_____ Exception_____

(40) polypropylene, shall be installed approximately halfway down the fill tower and extend through the water tank and dump to the rear of the rear axle. One (1) sleeve shall be provided in the water tank for plumbing to the rear.

7.2 MID-SHIP FIRE PUMP Complies_____ Exception_____

7.2.1 Mid-ship fire pump shall be a Hale Q Max 1250 GPM, single stage, mid-ship mounted, centrifugal type.

7.2.2 Pump shall be the class “A” type. 7.2.3 Pump shall be fully tested at the pump manufacturer's factory to

the performance requirements of the latest N.F.P.A. Standards, and shall be free from objectionable pulsation and vibration.

7.2.4 Packing gland shall be a full-circle threaded design to exert

uniform pressure on packing and prevent "cocking" and uneven packing load when it is tightened. * NO EXCEPTIONS *

7.2.5 The packing gland shall be easily adjusted by hand (with a rod

or screwdriver), no special tools or wrenches required.

7.2.6 Packing rings shall be of a unique, permanently lubricated, long-life graphite composition, and have sacrificial zinc foil separators to protect the pump shaft from galvanic corrosion.

7.3 PUMP TRANSMISSION Complies_____ Exception_____

7.3.1 The drive unit shall be cast and completely manufactured and tested at the pump manufacturer's factory.

7.3.2 The pump ratio shall be selected by the apparatus manufacturer

to provide the maximum performance with the engine and transmission selected. Three (3) green warning lights shall be provided to indicate to the operator(s) when the pump has completed the shift from Road to Pump position. Two (2) lights shall be located in the truck driving compartment and one (1) light on the pump operator's panel, adjacent to the throttle control. A sight window shall be provided to check fluid level.

7.4 AIR PUMP SHIFT Complies_____ Exception_____

7.4.1 Pump shift engagement shall be made by a two (2) position sliding collar, actuated pneumatically, with a three (3) position air control switch located in the cab.

7.4.2 Two (2) indicator lights shall be provided adjacent to the pump

shift inside the cab. One (1) green light shall indicate the pump shift has been completed and be labeled "pump engaged". The second green light shall indicate when the pump has been engaged and the chassis transmission is in pump gear. This indicator light shall be labeled "OK to pump."

7.4.3 Another green indicator light shall be installed adjacent to the

hand throttle on the pump panel and indicate either the pump is engaged and the road transmission is in pump gear, or the road transmission is in neutral and the pump is not engaged. This light shall be labeled "Warning! Do not open throttle unless light is on."

7.5 TRANSMISSION LOCK-UP Complies_____ Exception_____

The direct gear transmission lock-up for the fire pump operation shall engage automatically when the pump shift control in the cab, is activated.

7.6 AUXILIARY COOLING SYSTEM Complies_____ Exception_____

A supplementary heat exchange cooling system shall be provided to allow the use of water from the discharge side of the pump for cooling the engine water. Heat exchanger shall be cylindrical type and shall be a separate unit. It shall be installed in the pump or engine compartment with the control located on the pump operator's control panel. Exchanger shall be plumbed to the master drain valve. Engine water lines shall be run inside plastic conduit.

7.7 PUMP PRESSURE GOVERNOR CONTROL Complies_____ Exception_____

7.7.1 An electronic pressure governor shall be provided that is capable of automatically maintaining a desired preset discharge pressure. Logic for the governor system shall be incorporated into the Electronic Control Module on the engine. When operating in the "pressure control" mode, the system shall automatically maintain the discharge pressure set by the operator regardless of flow, within the discharge capabilities of the pump and water supply. Engine speed shall return to idle if the discharge pressure is lost for more than five (5) seconds, thus offering cavitation protection. While operating in the "throttle control" mode, the system shall automatically maintain the engine speed set by the operator. A preset is also available which allows a predetermined pressure or RPM to be set. The preset pressure or RPM will be displayed on the message display of the information center. In addition to providing normal throttle functions the "throttle control" mode shall also be used to back up the pressure mode.

7.7.2 The pressure signal shall come from a pump mounted pressure

transducer allowing direct reading of pressure without requiring water flow through the transducer or any part of the control system.

7.7.3 An interlock shall be incorporated into the governor that shall

allow the system to become operational only when the parking brake is set and the transmission is in drive with the mid-ship pump engaged.

7.7.4 The governor controls shall be located at the pump operator's

panel and consist of a series of indicator lights denoting system mode selection. When the operator chooses either the "pressure control" mode or the "throttle control" mode an amber

light shall come on indicating the system selected. A momentary switch shall be used to provide an infinite setting for increasing or decreasing water pressure or engine speed. The operator's panel shall also incorporate a system shutdown push button, which will return the engine to idle.

7.7.5 Built-in functions include engine tachometer readout, voltmeter

readout, engine oil pressure readout, engine temperature readout, check-engine light and stop-engine light and buzzer, low coolant level sensor, throttle control for the engine, and other key engine functions.

7.8 RELIEF VALVE WITH INDICATOR LIGHT Complies_____ Exception_____

7.8.1 Pump shall be equipped with an automatic pressure control device.

7.8.2 A single bronze, variable pressure setting relief valve shall be

provided and be of ample capacity to prevent an undue pressure rise, as per current N.F.P.A. standards.

7.8.3 Relief valve shall be normally closed and shall open against

pump pressure. This relief valve shall include a control light to signal when the valve is open.

7.8.4 In the event of relief valve control failure, the pump shall remain

operable for the complete range of the pump's rated capacity, without requiring the closing of any emergency (off/on) valves.

7.9 PRIMING PUMP Complies_____ Exception_____

7.9.1 Priming pump shall be a positive displacement vane type, electrically driven, and conforming to standards outlined in N.F.P.A. pamphlet 1901.

7.9.2 One (1) priming control shall open the priming valve and start

the priming motor. 7.9.3 Primer shall be an environmentally safe, self-lubricating style.

This primer shall not require an oil tank to prevent oil from being expelled onto the ground.

7.10 PUMP TEST Complies_____ Exception_____

The pump shall be tested, approved, and certified by an independent third party testing agency at the manufacturer's expense. The test results along with the pump manufacturer's certification of hydrostatic test, the engine manufacturer's certified brake horsepower curve, and the manufacturer's record of pump construction details shall be forwarded to the Fire Department.

7.11 PLUMBING Complies_____ Exception_____

7.11.1 All inlet and outlet lines up to three (3") inches shall be plumbed with either heavy-duty threaded pipe or synthetic rubber hose reinforced with hi-tensile polyester braid. Larger inlets and outlets can be threaded or welded black iron pipe. If hose is used, it must have a minimum burst rating of one-thousand (1,000) psi and be equipped with high-pressure brass or stainless steel couplings.

7.11.2 Where vibration or chassis flexing may damage or loosen piping

or where a coupling is required for servicing, the piping shall be equipped with victaulic or rubber couplings.

7.11.3 All lines to drain through either a master drain valve or be

equipped with individual drain valves. All individual drain lines for discharges shall be extended with a hose to drain below the chassis frame.

7.11.4 All water carrying gauge lines shall be of flexible polypropylene

tubing. 7.12 MAIN PUMP INLETS Complies_____ Exception_____

A six (6") inch NST pump manifold inlet shall be provided on each side of the vehicle. The suction inlets shall include removable die cast zinc screens that are designed to provide cathodic protection for the pump, thus reducing corrosion in the pump.

7.13 SHORT SUCTION TUBE Complies_____ Exception_____

The suction tubes on the mid-ship pump shall have "short" suction tubes to allow for installation of adapters without excessive overhang.

7.14 AUXILLARY 2½" INLET Complies_____ Exception_____

At the right side pump panel there shall be one (1) two-and-one-half (2.5") inch auxiliary intake, terminating in two-and-one-half (2.5") inch Detroit Standard Thread (DST) female. Each auxiliary intake shall be provided with a strainer, chrome swivel and a two-and-one-half (2.5”) inch DST plug.

7.15 VALVES Complies_____ Exception_____

All ball valves, shall be Akron Brass or stainless steel (preferred) in-line valves. These valves shall have two (2) self-adjusting seats to hold both pressure and vacuum in either direction. A Norkalon ball shall be provided for the swing-out ball valves. Inlet valve location shall be outside of the pump panel.

7.16 INLET CONTROL Complies_____ Exception_____

Control for the side auxiliary inlets shall be located at the inlet valve. 7.17 INLET (FRONT) Complies_____ Exception_____

7.17.1 A six (6”) inch NST Inlet front suction that extends through the front bumper shall be provided. It shall be furnished with die cast zinc screens at the opening. The plumbing for the unit shall be five (5”) inch welded black iron pipe and a five (5”) inch Hale MIV valve actuated at the left pump panel. Only radius elbows shall be used in the piping, no mitered joints. A short section of the inlet piping is reduced to four (4”) inches for clearance in a space-restricted area.

7.17.2 Drains shall be furnished in all the low points of piping and have

a three-quarter inch (.75”) ball valve with a handwheel control. 7.17.3 The front inlet shall be located on the passenger side of the

bumper extension. 7.17.4 The front suction shall have a Hale MIV valve control located at

the pump operator’s panel for gating the inlet.

7.18 INLET BLEEDER VALVE Complies_____ Exception_____

A three-quarter (.75") inch ball type bleeder valve shall be provided for each side gated inlet. The valves shall be located behind the panel with a hand wheel type knob for the control extended to the outside of the panel. The water, discharged by the valve, shall be routed below the chassis frame rails.

7.19 TANK TO PUMP Complies_____ Exception_____

7.19.1 The booster tank shall be connected to the intake side of the pump with heavy-duty piping and a quarter-turn, three (3") inch full flow line valve with the control remotely located at the operator's panel. Tank to pump line to run straight (no elbows) from the pump into the front face of the water tank and angle down into the tank sump. A rubber coupling shall be included in this line to prevent damage from vibration or chassis flexing.

7.19.2 A check valve shall be provided in the tank to pump supply line

to prevent the possibility of "back filling" the water tank. 7.20 TANK REFILL Complies_____ Exception_____

A one-and-one-half (1.5") inch combination tank refill and pump bypass line shall be provided, using a quarter-turn full flow ball valve controlled from the pump operator's panel.

7.21 DISCHARGE OUTLETS (Left Side) Complies_____ Exception_____

7.21.1 There shall be two (2) discharge outlets with a two-and-one-half (2.5") inch valve on the left side of the apparatus, terminating with a male two-and-one-half (2.5") inch National Standard hose thread adapter.

7.21.2 The two (2) discharge outlets, located on the left side pump

panel, shall be furnished with a two-and-one-half (2.5”) inch (F) National Standard hose thread x Detroit Standard Threads, chrome plated, thirty (30º) degree elbow.

7.22 DISCHARGE OUTLETS (Right Side) Complies_____ Exception_____

7.22.1 There shall be one (1) discharge outlet; two-and-one-half (2.5") inch valve on the right side of the apparatus, terminating with a male two-and-one-half (2.5") inch National Standard hose thread adapters.

7.22.2 The one (1) discharge outlet, located on the right side pump

panel, shall be furnished with a two-and-one-half (2.5”) inch (F) National Standard hose thread x Detroit Standard Threads, chrome plated, thirty (30º) degree elbow.

7.23 DISCHARGE OUTLET (Rear) Complies_____ Exception_____

There shall be one (1) discharge outlet piped to the rear of the hose bed installed so proper clearance is provided for spanner wrenches or adapters. Plumbing shall consist of two-and-one-half (2.5”) inch piping along with a two-and-one-half (2.5”) inch full flow ball valve with the control from the pump operator’s panel. This discharge will terminate with a thirty (30˚) degree elbow and a DST male.

7.24 DISCHARGE OUTLET, 4.00” Complies_____ Exception_____

7.24.1 There shall be a four (4”) inch discharge outlet with a four (4”) inch Akron valve installed on the right side pump panel of the apparatus, terminating with a male four (4”) inch National Standard hose thread adapter. This discharge outlet shall be actuated with a handwheel control at the pump operator’s control panel. An indicator shall be provided to show when the valve is in the closed position.

7.24.2 The four (4”) inch outlet shall be furnished with a four (4”) inch

(F) National Standard hose thread by five (5”) inch Storz elbow adapter with Storz cap.

7.25 DISCHARGE ADAPTERS AND CAPS Complies_____ Exception_____

Chrome plated, two-and-one-half (2.5”) inch DST female to one-and-one-half (1.5”) inch NST male adapter with rocker lug, one-and-one-half (1.5”) inch NST caps and chains shall be furnished for all side and rear discharge outlets.

7.26 OUTLET DRAINS Complies_____ Exception_____

7.26.1 A drain valve shall be provided for each outlet. 7.26.2 Drains shall be properly labeled identifying the discharge they

are plumbed into. The water discharged by the drains shall be routed below the chassis frame rails.

7.27 DISCHARGE OUTLET CONTROLS Complies_____ Exception_____

The discharge outlets shall incorporate a quarter-turn ball valve with the control located at the pump operator’s panel. The valve operating mechanism shall indicate the position of the valve or an indicator shall be provided to show when the valve is closed.

7.28 DELUGE RISER Complies_____ Exception_____

A 3.00” deluge riser shall be installed above the pump in such a manner that a monitor can be mounted and used effectively. Piping shall be installed securely so no movement develops when the line is charged. The riser shall be gated and controlled at the pump operator’s panel. The outlet shall include an Akron valve with a handwheel control.

7.29 TELESCOPIC PIPING Complies_____ Exception_____

7.29.1 The deluge riser piping shall be single inlet, Task Force Tips Extend-A-Gun extension with pipe and tips.

7.29.2 This extension shall be telescopic to allow the deluge gun to be

raised increasing the range of operation. 7.29.3 A position sensor shall be provided on the telescopic piping that

shall activate the “Do Not Move Vehicle” light inside the cab when the monitor is in the raised position.

7.29.4 The deluge riser shall have a Task Force, model XFF-APL,

truck mount adapter for mounting the monitor. 7.29.5 Inlet to be a five (5”) inch Storz.

7.30 SPEEDLAYS WITH TRAY Complies_____ Exception_____

7.30.1 Ahead of the pump enclosure shall be two (2) one-and-three-quarter (1.75”) inch speed lay hose beds, stacked one above the other. The speed-lays shall have a two (2”) inch pre-connect line with a two (2”) inch quarter-turn ball valve and terminate with a one-and-one-half (1.5”) inch National Standard hose thread on the pump panel next to the speed-lay, one each side.

7.30.2 Drain valves shall be provided. 7.30.3 Individual controls for the speed-lays shall be at the pump

operator’s panel. 7.30.4 Each compartment shall be capable of carrying two hundred

twenty-five (225’) feet of one-and-three-quarter (1.75”) inch double-jacketed hose with the compartment located above the other.

7.30.5 The bottom of the speed lay compartment shall be lined with

stainless steel. The speed lay trays shall consist of .19 aluminum. Nylon runners shall be used on the bottom of the tray to allow for a skid resistant surface. The floor of the tray shall consist of perforated brushed aluminum with two (2) hand holes for easy removal from the compartment. Scuff plates shall be provided at the sides and bottom of each opening on both sides.

7.31 BOOSTER HOSE REEL Complies_____ Exception_____

7.31.1 A Hannay electric rewind booster hose reel shall be installed on top of the pump compartment. Primary deployment shall be to pump panel side.

7.31.2 The reel shall be equipped with two hundred (200’) feet of one

(1”) inch inside diameter booster hose and shall be controlled from the operator’s pump panel.

7.31.3 Stainless steel rollers and guides shall be installed on top of

both sides of the pump compartment to allow the booster line to be pulled over either side of the apparatus.

7.31.4 Plumbing to the reel shall consist of one-and-one-half (1.5”) inch

Aeroquip hose and a one-and-one-half (1.5”) valve.

7.31.5 Reel motor shall be protected from overload with a sized automatic reset circuit breaker.

7.31.6 Weatherproof rewind switch location to be approved by the

purchaser. 7.31.7 Manual rewind provisions shall also be provided with a rewind

crank. 7.31.8 Working pressure of the booster hose shall be a minimum of

eight hundred (800) psi. 7.31.9 An Akron Model #4612 with pistol grip, one (1”) inch booster

hose nozzle shall be provided. 7.31.10 Two (2) clips to hold the booster hose and a holder for the

booster nozzle at the right edge of the pump panel with the nozzle being held at the pump panel running board.

7.32 HOSE REEL BLOWOUT Complies_____ Exception_____

A hose reel blowout shall be furnished to blow out any remaining water from the reel. Blowout shall be piped from the wet tank of the brake system to the reel and shall be controlled at the pump operator’s panel.

7.33 PUMP COMPARTMENT Complies_____ Exception_____

7.33.1 The pump compartment shall be separate from the hose body and compartments so each may flex independently of the other. It shall be a fabricated assembly of steel tubing, angles, and channels, which support both the fire pump and the side running boards.

7.33.2 The pump compartment shall be mounted on the chassis frame

rails with rubber biscuits in a four-point pattern to allow for chassis frame twist.

7.33.3 Pump compartment, pump, plumbing and gauge panels shall be

removable from the chassis in a single assembly. 7.33.4 In order to prevent road contamination of the pump, a

removable splash shield shall be mounted allowing access to pump compartment.

7.34 PUMP MOUNTING Complies_____ Exception_____

Pump shall be mounted to a sub-structure, which shall be mounted to the chassis frame rail using rubber isolators. The mounting shall allow chassis frame rails to flex independently without damage to the fire pump.

7.35 PUMP OPERATOR’S PANEL Complies_____ Exception_____

7.35.1 The pump operator’s panel shall be constructed of stainless steel, located on the driver’s side of the apparatus, and have a machined swirl finish.

7.35.2 The upper portion of the pump panel shall be vertically hinged

for servicing. It shall be chained or cabled to prevent the panel from opening more than ninety (90º) degrees. Lower portion shall be removable.

7.35.3 Two (2) Whelen Model PSCACCCR-Strip Lights shall be

provided to illuminate all gauges, outlets, inlets and controls; one (1) on each side. In addition to a weatherproof switch installed on the pump operator’s panel, the pump panel light(s) shall be wired to turn off when the parking brake is released.

7.35.4 Location of all gauges, controls, outlets, inlets, etc. shall

conform to current N.F.P.A. Standards grouping requirements. All discharges and inlets installed on the operator’s pump panel shall be well organized.

7.35.5 All gauges shall be located as close to the corresponding

control as possible. 7.35.6 All required markings shall be of a type that is permanent in

nature, able to withstand the effects and extremes of weather and temperature without fading. They shall be securely attached without adhesive tape or rivets.

7.35.7 All gauges, controls, and drains shall be color coordinated and

easy to understand. Colors and legends to be determined at the pre-engineering conference.

7.35.8 The location of all valves, controls, gauges, switches, meters,

etc. shall be approved by the purchaser. The bidder shall provide with the bid a drawing of the pump operator’s panel and the officer’s side pump panel as planned.

7.35.9 A one-quarter (¼") inch male (brass) garden hose quick connect mounted on the driver’s pump panel, plumbed to the top of the tank fill will be provided.

7.35.10 A pair of vacuum and pressure test gauge connections shall be

installed on the pump operator’s panel. 7.35.11 A permanently attached outlet with screw-on cap shall be

provided by which the regular tachometer can be checked with a hand revolution counter when the engine is driving the pump, and shall not involve disconnecting the permanently connected tachometer.

7.35.12 A transmission oil temperature gauge shall be installed on the

pump operator’s panel, unless that function is monitored by the PSG system.

7.35.13 The hydraulic generator meter panel with over-temperature

alarm shall be installed on the pump operator’s panel. 7.35.14 The pump panel on the right (passenger’s) side shall be

removable with lift and turn type fasteners O/E. The left (driver’s) side shall also be removable for service work. Finish to match left side panel.

7.35.15 Vinyl covered cables or chains shall be used to hold the gauge

panel in the dropped position. 7.35.16 Polished stainless steel trim collars shall be installed around all

inlets and outlets. 7.35.17 All push/pull discharge controls shall have stainless steel rods

with a diameter of one-half (.5”) inch. The control rods shall pull straight out of the panel. The remote push/pull control rods shall be equipped with universal joints to eliminate binding. Guides for the push/pull control rods shall be chrome plated castings, securely mounted to the pump panel.

7.36 AIR HORN BUTTON Complies_____ Exception_____

7.36.1 A momentary air horn control button shall be provided at the pump operator's control panel.

7.36.2 The control button shall be weatherproof.

7.36.3 The button shall be properly labeled and put within easy reach of the operator.

7.36.4 The controls shall be enabled when the master battery switch is

on.

7.37 ELECTRIC GAUGE HEATER Complies_____ Exception_____

An MC Products O/E, electric gauge heater shall be provided for all water carrying gauges.

7.38 COLOR CODED NAME TAGS Complies_____ Exception_____

All outlet discharges shall have color coded name tags, with each discharge having its own color. These tags shall be used for labeling the discharge pressure gauges, controls, outlets and drains.

7.39 AUXILIARY THROTTLE Complies_____ Exception_____

An manual auxiliary throttle shall be installed on the pump panel. Auxiliary throttle shall be installed to override the electric governor.

7.40 GAUGES, VACUUM, AND PRESSURE Complies_____ Exception_____

NoShok liquid filled pump pressure and vacuum gauges shall be provided. The gauges shall be four (4") inches in diameter with white faces and black lettering. The gauges shall have a pressure range of thirty (30") inch, zero (0-400) to four-hundred psi.

7.41 PRESSURE GAUGES Complies_____ Exception_____

NoShok liquid filled individual line pressure gauges shall be provided. The gauges shall be two-and-one-half (2.5") inches in diameter with white faces and black lettering. The gauges shall have a pressure range of zero (0-400) to four-hundred psi.

7.42 WATER LEVEL GAUGE Complies_____ Exception_____

7.42.1 An electric water level gauge shall be provided on the operator's panel that registers water level by means of five (5) brightly colored incandescent lights. The water level indicators shall be:

7.42.2 To further alert the pump operator, the refill light shall start

flashing when the water level drops below the one-quarter (1/4) mark.

7.42.3 The level measurement shall be based on the sensing of the

electrical conductivity of the water in the tank. 7.42.4 The display shall be constructed of a solid plastic material to

reduce vibrations that can cause broken wires and loose electronic components. The encapsulated design shall provide complete protection from water and environmental elements.

7.42.5 The gauge light bulbs shall be rated for fifteen-thousand

(15,000) hours. The bulbs shall be easily replaced by unscrewing the colored lens cover.

7.42.6 The cover plate panel bezel shall be of a chrome plated die cast

design. The overlay graphics shall be on the inside surface of the composite overlay to provide protection from wear. The composite overlay shall be scratch resistant and immune to cleaning solvents and UV light weathering.

7.42.7 The water level probe shall be constructed of chemical resistant,

PVC plastic with a three (3") inch diameter anodized flange. The internal wire connectors and electronics shall be fully encapsulated to protect against water, dirt, and vibration. The probe system shall not contain moving parts or mechanical switching.

7.43 LIGHT SHIELD Complies_____ Exception_____

Illumination shall be provided for controls, switches, essential instructions, gauges, and instruments necessary for the operation of the apparatus and the equipment provided on it. External illumination shall be a minimum of five (5’) foot-candles on the face of the device. Internal illumination shall be a minimum of four (4’) foot-lamberts. Lights shall be installed under a stainless steel shield. One (1) pump panel light shall come on at the operator's panel when the pump is shifted into gear from inside the cab. This is to afford the operator some illumination when first approaching the control panel. The remaining lights to be actuated from a switch located on the pump panel.

Section 8: General Service Lighting

It is the intent of the purchaser that any lights (if possible) shall be LED type (DOT/Marker/etc.)

8.1 ELECTRICAL Complies_____ Exception_____

8.1.1 All 12-volt electrical equipment installed by the apparatus shall conform to modern automotive practices. All wiring shall be high temperature cross-link type. Wiring shall be run, in loom or conduit, where exposed and have grommets where wire passes through sheet metal. Automatic or manual reset circuit breakers shall be provided which conform to SAE standards. Wiring shall be color, function and number coded. Function and number codes shall be continuously imprinted on all wiring harness conductors at two (2”) inch intervals. Exterior exposed wire connectors shall be positive locking, and environmentally sealed to withstand elements such as temperature extremes, moisture and automotive fluids. Electrical wiring and equipment shall be installed utilizing the following guidelines:

8.1.1.1 All holes made in the roof shall be caulked with

silicon; rope caulk is not acceptable. Large fender washers, liberally caulked, shall be used when fastening equipment to the underside of the cab roof.

8.1.1.2 Any electrical component that is installed in an

exposed area shall be mounted in a manner that shall not allow moisture to accumulate in it. Exposed area shall be defined as any location outside of the cab or body.

8.1.1.3 Electrical components designed to be removed for

maintenance shall not be fastened with nuts and bolts. Metal screws shall be used in mounting these devices. Also a coil of wire shall be provided behind the appliance to allow them to be pulled away from the mounting area for inspection and service work.

8.1.1.4 Corrosion preventative compound shall be applied to

all terminal plugs located outside of the cab or body. All non-waterproof connections shall require this compound in the plug to prevent corrosion and for easy separation (of the plug).

8.1.1.5 All lights that have their sockets in a weather exposed area shall have corrosion preventative compound added to the socket terminal area.

8.1.1.6 All electrical terminals in exposed areas shall have

‘Silicon 1890’ applied completely over the metal portion of the terminal. Identification of the switches shall be done by either printing or etching on the switch panel. The switches and identification shall be illuminated.

8.1.2 All lights and reflectors, required to comply with Federal Motor

Vehicle Supply Standard #108, shall be furnished. Rear identification lights shall be mounted for protection. Lights and wiring mounted in the rear bulkheads shall be processed from damage by installing a false bulkhead inside the rear compartments.

8.1.3 Operational tests shall be conducted to ensure that any

equipment that is permanently attached to the electrical system is properly connected and in working order.

8.1.4 The results of the tests shall be recorded and provided to the

purchaser at time of delivery. 8.2 STEP LIGHTS Complies_____ Exception_____

8.2.1 Four (4) Whelen LED 200 series lights shall be provided. 8.2.2 One (1) step light shall be provided on each side of the front

compartment face. 8.2.3 Two (2) step lights at rear, shall illuminate the tailboard. 8.2.4 These step lights shall be actuated with the pump panel light

switch. 8.3 LIGHT, STEP (additional) Complies_____ Exception_____

There shall be two (2) Whelen LED 200 Series, step lights provided in the cargo compartment, one (1) each side. A switch at the pump operator’s panel shall activate the lights.

8.4 FRONT HEADLIGHTS Complies_____ Exception_____

Front headlights shall be approved daytime illuminated. 8.5 REAR FED. MOTOR VEHICLE SAFETY STANDARD LIGHT Complies_____ Exception_____

8.5.1 The rear stop/tail and directional lighting shall be LED style and shall consist of the following:

8.5.1.1 Two (2) Whelen, Model 64FCXORU O/E, stop/tail

lights. 8.5.1.2 One (1) Whelen, Model 64FCXORU O/E, amber left

turn light, with arrow indicator. 8.5.1.3 One (1) Whelen, Model 64FCXORU O/E, amber right

turn light, with arrow indicator. 8.5.1.4 The lights shall be installed at the rear, each with their

own individual flange. 8.5.1.5 Four (4) red reflectors shall be provided.

8.5.2 A Weldon, Model 23882-2600-00 O/E, license plate bracket

shall be mounted on the driver’s side above the warning lights. A Weldon, Model 9186-23882-30 O/E, step lamp shall illuminate the license plate.

8.5.3 Two (2) Whelen, Model 64BACKF O/E, halogen backup lights,

with flange, shall be provided. 8.6 COMPARTMENT LIGHTING Complies_____ Exception_____

8.6.1 Whelen 200 Series LED Model 20COCCCR lights shall be provided in each enclosed compartment.

8.6.2 Opening the compartment door shall automatically turn

compartment lighting on.

8.7 COMPARTMENT LIGHTS, (additional) Complies_____ Exception_____

Whelen 200 Series LED Model 20COCCCR lighting shall be provided in the compartments. The additional seven (7”) inch lights shall be installed in the compartments with shelves/trays. The lights are to be under each adjustable shelf and tray mounted towards the adjustable nut out of the way from loading and unloading the tray/shelf.

8.8 PUMP COMPARTMENT LIGHT Complies_____ Exception_____

8.8.1 A pump compartment light shall be provided inside the right side pump enclosure and accessible through a door on the pump panel.

8.8.2 A .125” weep hole shall be provided in each light lens,

preventing moisture retention. 8.9 PERIMETER SCENE LIGHTS, CAB Complies_____ Exception_____

8.9.1 There shall be a Truck-Lite, model 40003 O/E, four ( 4”) inch grommet mount weatherproof light provided for each cab door. Lighting shall be designed to provide illumination on areas under the driver, officer, and crew cab riding area exits, which shall be activated automatically when the exit doors are opened, by the door jam switch and by the same means as the body perimeter lights.

8.9.2 The lighting shall be capable of providing illumination at a

minimum level of one (1’) foot-candle on ground areas within thirty (30”) inches of the edge of the apparatus in areas which personnel climb in or out of the apparatus or descend from the apparatus to the ground level.

8.10 PERIMETER SCENE LIGHTS, BODY Complies_____ Exception_____

8.10.1 Whelen 200 Series LED Model 20COCCCR, weatherproof lights provided on the apparatus as required per N.F.P.A. guidelines.

8.10.2 The lighting shall be capable of providing illumination at a

minimum level of one (1) foot-candle on ground areas within

thirty (30”) inches of the edge of the apparatus in areas designed for personnel to climb onto the apparatus or descend from the apparatus to the ground level.

8.11 CAB SPOTLIGHTS Complies_____ Exception_____

8.11.1 Two (2) Unity 325 spotlights, one (1) each side at front of cab, shall be provided. The spotlights shall be furnished with one hundred sixty thousand (160,000) candle power halogen bulbs.

8.11.2 Two (2) six inch Unity O/E rear floodlights shall be provided on

the rear of the vehicle. Exact location and style to be determined at pre-build conference.

8.12 HAND HELD SPOTLIGHT Complies_____ Exception_____

There shall be one (1) light Optronics KB4000 O/E, hand held spotlight(s) supplied and installed (hard wired) on the Officer’s side.

8.13 EXTERIOR LIGHTING Complies_____ Exception_____

8.13.1 Exterior lighting shall meet or exceed Federal Department of Transportation, Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standards, and N.F.P.A. requirements in effect at time of proposal.

8.13.2 Front headlights shall be halogen type, rectangular shaped,

quad style mounted in chrome and polished aluminum housing. 8.13.3 Five (5) LED clearance and marker lights shall be installed

across the leading edge of the cab. 8.14 BACK UP ALARM Complies_____ Exception_____

An Ecco, Model SA917-PM2 O/E back up alarm shall be provided.
