3. LAST SECTION MEETINGOur February section meeting was a great success, with 43 people in attendance!!! (CWIs be sure to contact us for 2 PDH credits)
Jose Zavala and Jose Gonzalez of Pearl Abrasives lead a discussion on the advances of Abrasive and Diamond Cutting Products for the welding industry and demonstrationsMr. Zavala and Mr. Gonzalez conducted a technical discussion on abrasives. The topics included the advances made on products for grinding, cutting, surface prep, and sanding. Also discussed were the latest advancements in diamond cutting products by the R&D department of Pearl Abrasives. The product line of Pearl Abrasives was showcased and used as examples for the technical discussion.Pearl Abrasives distributed catalogs and other literature to all in attendance. Among the highlighted products were ultra thin grinding disks for angle grinders, as well as the diamond metal cutting blade for angle grinders. There was also a spectacular demonstration of the products discussed and those in attendance were invited to test any of the products on display.The section meeting concluded with a customary raffle. Prizes included a $126.00 50/50 cash prize to new students member Kenneth Kwan, who graciously donated $40.00 of his prize back to Section 008! Also raffled off was a new welding helmet, computer speakers, tons of Pearl abrasives products including a diamond-cutting blade, a gear bag from Lincoln Electric, and gear from Starrett Tools.We want to thank everyone for attending this meeting, and special thanks to our guest speakers, and our board member Tony Gonzales, Program Committee Chairman, who put great effort into making this happen so successfully!
