This document was originally issued and sealed by

    Darin Lindblom, Registration Number

    PE-8780, on 10/22/2020 and the

original document is stored at the North Dakota Department of Transportation.

107-P01 HEIGHT RESTRICTION FOR CONSTRUCITON EQUIPMENT: Between RP 37.000 to RP 37.300, restrict all construction vehicle heights to 17 feet or less due to the Cando Airport. Equipment height will be measured from the centerline of the finished roadway and will include the extended box height of dump trucks and dump trailers.

401-P01 FOG SEAL: Apply fog seal immediately after performing final brooming. Use CSS1H

Emulsified Asphalt at a residual rate of 0.05 Gal/SY for fog sealing. 420-P01 SEAL COAT: Seal shoulders before sweeping the excess chips from the adjacent lane. 420-P02 SEAL COAT: The Engineer will collect and test three samples for each lot of material. A

lot is defined as 100,000 SY @ 24 Lbs/SY of Cover Cater Material CL 41. If the final lot is less than 100,000 SY and greater than 50,000 SY, the Engineer will sample it as a separate lot.

The Engineer will collect and test each lot with two samples from the stockpile, and one

sample from the roadway material. Collect and test samples from the stockpile before the job starts. If the average of the three samples does not meet the gradation specified, the Engineer will either reduce the contractor unit price, as specified in Section 420.06, “Basis of Payment; or reject the material. Do not incorporate the additional material if two consecutive lots deviate from the gradation. Restart placement after taking corrective actions and passing a gradation test.

420-P03 SAND SEAL: Blotter Material CL44 will be used for the sealing of the shoulders. 704-500 PORTABLE RUMBLE STRIPS (PRS): Use PRS made of rubber or engineered

polymers. Install PRS as part of the temporary traffic control when the following signs are also part

of the required traffic control set up:

    • “Be Prepared to Stop” (E3-4); and • “Flagger” symbol (W20-7)

Install PRS that meet the following criteria:

    • Have no adhesives or fasteners required for placement; • Have a manufacture’s speed rating that meets or exceeds the posted speed

limit; and • Each strip in the array must weigh a minimum of 100 pounds.

Use individual PRS construction in one of the following manners:

    • A single piece; • Inter locking segments; or • Two pieces hinged at the midpoint.

An installed array of PRS consists of a minimum of 3 individual strips.

Move rumble strips with the flagging operation. Do not place rumble strips on horizontal curves.

The Engineer will count and measure each array as one unit. Include the cost of

providing, installing, maintaining, and relocating PRS in the unit price bid for “Portable Rumble Strips”.

704-P01 PORTABLE RUMBLE STRIPS: A quantity of 2 portable rumble strips are provided to

be used during the duration of the project. Additional quantities are at the contractors expense.

704-P02 TRAFFIC CONTROL FOR SEAL COATS: Provide traffic control consisting of a

temporary lane closure, flagging, and a pilot car. Traffic control device quantities are based on a 6 mile limitation and following list:

    1. Section 100 Sheet 3, Portable Rumble Strips, place layout at both ends of the work zone. Flagging stations located within the work zone require sign W20-7-48 only;

    2. Standard D-704-20, Layout H, signing will be required at junctions: 37th Ave NE, 38th Ave NE, 45th Ave NE, 48th Ave NE,52nd Ave NE, 57th Ave NE, 59th Ave NE.

    3. Standard D-704-22, layouts K and L; and Provide additional devices at no cost to the Department. Place flaggers and traffic control devices as shown on Standard D-704-15, layout A at

the following intersections when the lane closure spans across them: 704-P03 TRAFFIC CONTROL: At the end of each work day, after the final sweeping, and short

term striping are complete, return the traffic speed to the posted speed limit for the full length of roadway that received the bitumen and cover coat material.

762-200 PERMANENT WATER BASED PAVEMENT MARKING: Replace the first paragraph of

762.04 C.2.a “Method of Application” with the following:

Allow new bituminous treatment to cool to a temperature below 125 °F and cure for a period of 72 hours before applying permanent pavement marking.
