Directions for using and modifying this presentation: The first four parts of PowerPoint presentation can be modified as much or as little as is necessary. Sources for

these slides include: the World Bank, the US Centers for Disease Control, the World Health Organization, UN Data, African Development Bank, Asian Development Bank, CIA Factbook, The Economist, and research studies, etc. THE COUNTRY SPECIFIC PRIVATE SECTOR SECTION MUST BE CUSTOMIZED TO YOUR COUNTRY.

The sections most amenable to modifications are:

1. Macroeconomic Costs of Recent Epidemics Slide : Several epidemics are described in this slide. Others can be added or substituted as necessary.

2. Illustrative Ebola Slides and Regional Slide : The Ebola slides should be kept in all regional slide decks and are illustrative of the impact of a large-scale outbreak on the private sector. A second, region-specific disease slide has been added, but others can be added or substituted as necessary.

‘Transmission Risk’ lists out how the

disease is transmitted along with how

common transmission is, and how deadly

the disease may be.

List out the numbers of cases, deaths (human), and costs to the

region.

‘Snapshot’ offers key facts about the

disease or outbreak.

Include macroeconomic costs such as effects on GDP, fiscal deficits

caused by outbreaks, and effects on key sectors of the economy.

Including graphics, where possibly, helps explain the key points, but

also keeps the audience engaged.

3. Country Specific Private Sector Slides: These slides should be modified by the NOHTA and country-specific information should be inserted in place of the red text. The NOHTA should complete the Country Economic Profile before completing this section.

Regional Slide- the format is the same as the Ebola slide.

This slide will vary depending upon priority diseases identified in each country.

This slide reflects the breakdown of a country’s economy by sector. It includes basic information such as the % GDP, % of the population employed in the sector, and a description of what the sector entails.

**Note: there are talking points for most slides in the notes section. To print these alongside the slide, go to File, then Print and choose ‘Notes pages.’

This slide describes the most important private sector stakeholders in each country, categorized by transmission pathway. Not all countries will have the same One Health stakeholders. This slide should be followed by a sector by sector discussion of the most relevant sectors to the Platform’s activities.

This slide provides a basic overview of the most relevant sectors in each country.

This slide describes the sector-specific associations which have a broad reach and might serve as a good entry point into the private sector. These associations can be found by conducting a basic online search.
