The difference between weather and climate. Weather is the condition of the atmosphere of a place during a short period of time, for example: a day or a week. For example: Its snowing today. Climate is the condition of the atmosphere over a period of years. For example: In winter it snows a lot.
Climates generally depend on three factors:
1. PROXIMITY TO THE EQUATOR.
2. ALTITUDE ABOVE SEA LEVEL.
3. THE INFLUENCE OF THE SEA.
This means the closer a place is to the equator, the more perpendicular the Suns rays are and the warmer the climate is.
This means mountainous areas have cold climates and the regions on the coast have warmer climates.
This means the regions on the coast have milder climate than regions far form the sea.

After reading, in pairs, interact with your classmate and find out the right factors that affect the climate. Then, complete the table.

In summer, the land heats quicker than the sea. So, during the summer, winds blowing from the sea to the land are cool.
In general, temperature descends one degree for every 160 metres increase in altitude.
In winter, the land cools quicker than the sea. So, during the winter, the winds blowing from the sea to the land are warm.
