Sunday in Ord. Time
24th / 25th October 2015 Vol. 33 No. 46
Paul and Sonia Tanham are
celebrating their 60th wedding
anniversary on the 19th August.
They came to the Holy Rosary
Parish in 1966 with four children
and two more children were born
while they lived in Woodlands. All
of their six children and seven of
their grandchildren have been
educated in Holy Rosary school,
Siena, Marist Brothers and now
Newman College. Paul and Sonia
have been part of the Holy Rosary
Parish for the past 48 years and
they have seen many changes over
the years including the building of
the church. They look forward to
many more years at the church
and in the area.
Seeing With The Heart
Many are familiar with the saying, “There are none so blind as those who will not see.” Few may know that it goes on to say: “The most deluded people are those who choose to ignore what they already know”. It seems to have appeared in 1546, but its origins may well go back to the prophet Jeremiah who said: “Hear this, O foolish and senseless people, who have eyes, but do not see, who have ears but do not hear” (5:21) This would make it a very ancient proverb indeed.
We could turn the saying on its head and declare that there are none so insightful as those who have been deprived of sight. This is certainly the case with the blind beggar of today’s gospel, Bartimaeus, and his unnamed counterpart in the gospel of John (chapter 9). Each of these blind men is blessed with insight into the true nature of Jesus, while the sighted people around them failed to see who Jesus really was. In the end such insight is a gift of God, but we can prepare ourselves for it by reading the word of God, reflecting on it, and praying with it.
Be warned: seeing with the heart can open up a path of discipleship that may be more than we’ve bargained for!

Parish Ministries: Proclaimers of The Word
The Word of God is fundamental to the liturgy of the Eucharist. For this reason, those people who do the readings at Mass are known as Proclaimers of the Word. It is their privilege to share God’s Word with the community. This ministry is a form of service for those who possess faith, commitment and confident speaking skills.
Two proclaimers are used at most Masses. One delivers the First Reading and Responsorial Psalm and the other the Second Reading and Gospel Acclamation. The second person also welcomes the congregation before Mass, reads the commentary for the day and leads the Prayers of the Faithful after the Creed.
Proclaimers use a book called Break Open the Word to prepare their readings and assist them with pronunciation.

4 Year Old Kindergarten Enrolments 2017
Due to much parent interest, we will soon be finalizing Four Year Old Kindergarten enrolments for 2017. Please contact Laurie Evans if you have not enrolled your child or if you are unsure. Please note that enrolment in the 3 Year Old Kindergarten does not guarantee enrolment in the 4 Year Old programme. Once placements have been completed it will not be possible to increase classes to accommodate children whose enrolment application was not received.
4 Year Old Kindergarten Enrolments 2018
We will be interviewing new families to the school in Term 2, 2016. For families already within the school with older children from 4 YO Kindy to Year 6, no interview will be required. If you have not enrolled your child or unsure whether an application has been completed, please contact Laurie Evans.
