Hopefully running my own business successfully with maybe a shop.Did college/University help you to get where you are today? I learnt most of my practical textiles skills during GCSE and A level textiles, but my design skills grew during my degree. I also learnt about graphic, product and computer design: things I use all the time in my business.What are you doing now? Working part time in a shop and setting up my own business, Recovamp. I make things like bags, purses and jewellery from recycled fabrics, clothes, beads and buttons. I also tailor clothes, repair clothes and jewellery and I have made some costumes and clothes for people and theatre companies. I’m also acting in a play, Not Now Darling, with an amateur theatre company. The play will be on in September at Crosby Civic Hall.If you could go back would there be anything you would change? Making great friends, learning so many things and having my eyes opened to all of the opportunity that is in front of us all! Not to mention the ridiculous things we used to get up to! Childhood dream career? I think I wanted to be a fireman, dentist or a vicar (because you get a free house!)Did college/University help you to get where you are today? I think that different people take very different things from education, even if they were on the same course. For me I think that college helped me to understand a creative brief, where you have to keep your imagination alive, but within certain constraints. It also taught me how to compose and display my work and I took a great deal of knowledge and inspiration from my tutors too.What are you doing now? I am currently building up my Photography business that I started 2 years ago.
