Ballast : Water point

• The only water point is between the two main doors of the hangar.

• Flow meters are available.

• You can fill directly your wings or use canisters.

• We recommend you to fill your canisters during the evening to avoid queue

Glider and Trailer Park

• If you often unrig your glider , please use the west aera, else the east one.

• When the west and east aera are full, you can let your glider in the middle.

• Be carful to not get in the way of another trailer needed to go for outlanding

• Do not let any stake or tool on the ground if your glider is not parked.

• You can let your car between trailers, but it’s highly recommended to let it in the offical car park.

Griding : Runway 09

• Three gliders share the same row number.

• This number allocation won’t change during the contest, but the plot will move day by day.

• During the griding, the first glider of the row set its left wing on the plot.

• The next glider of the row sets its left wing just in front of the previous glider right wing leading edge.

How to find the airfield

• Try to find Bain-de-Bretagne (the only town with a lake), then west side of the Teillay forest.

• In between, you will see the telecom tower.

• The airfied is just south of the telecom tower.

• La Dominelais private airfield is only 5km South of Saint-Sulpice airfield.

• Runway : 700m

ZRT Rennes & Nantes

• For the Grand Prix, two special dispensatory zones are created

to allow to fly in TMA next to the airfield :

� ZRT Rennes

� ZRT Nantes

• When activated, all competitors can fly in the ZRT without any clairance.

• The ZRT Rennes and The ZRT Nantes can be activated separatly.

• Each ZRT is composed by two aeras with different altitudes. But it’s only one airspace.

• The task sheet will display :

� The daily status of each ZRT : active or disabled

� The daily QNH and the altitude of FL55

• Warning :

� Commercial airplanes will fly only 500ft above : be very careful!

� Other traffics may fly in the ZRT : see and avoid !

• For the famous 24h car race in Le Mans, two special dispensatory zones are created.

• When activated, they are forbidden airspace.

• Dates of activity :

• The task sheet will display :

� The daily status of each ZRT : active or disabled

• There should be no impact on the Saiplane Grand Prix : you won’t fly in this area.

Altitudes

• Before take-off :– Set the display of your altimeter and flight recorder to 95m

• It has no influence on your flight record.

• The flight analysis software of the scoring team will apply an offset to your altitude records so your takeoff altitude will be(95m).

• In flight :– AMSL altitudes : check you altimeter

– Flight Level : • The organisation will define the official QNH of the day.

• The task sheet will display the QNH and the daily sport altitudes of FL55 and FL65

Radio Procedures

• A unique frequency : 130.200 MHz– Take off, start, arrival, landing, safety, etc

• During take off– Silent except for safety : speed up, slow down, downwind, final, etc

• Arrival– At 10 km to the finish line :

• « [Contest Number] 10 km»

– The organisation will reply by giving you the wind speed and direction.

– At report point (3km to finish line) :• « [Contest Number] Report point, speed finish» :

if the pilot expect to cross the finish line at the requiered altitude and use the standard landing pattern.

• « [Contest Number] Report point, direct landing north» : if the pilot expects to be too low

Grand Prix Start Procedure

• The following radio messages will be made by the Organisers:– At least 20 minutes before the opening of the start line: "The Start Line will be

opened at y Hour and the maximum start altitude is z m " (altitude expressed in QNH)

– At 10 minutes before the start: "The Start Line will be opened in ten minutes. The

maximum start altitude is z m. Pilots must be behind the Start line in 9 minutes”.

– At 5 minutes before the start: "The Start Line will be opened in five minutes, the

maximum start altitude is z m. From now, turns to the right are prohibited in the start

area. Pilots must be behind the Start line in 4 minutes.”

(start area = half cylinder, 2.5km radius)

– At 3 minutes before the start: "The Start Line will be opened in three minutes. Pilots

must be behind the Start line in two minutes"

– At 2 minutes before the start: "The Start Line will be opened in two minutes. Pilots

must be behind the Start line in one minute"

– One minute before the start: "The Start Line will be opened in one minute”

– 30 seconds before the start: "The Start Line will be opened in 30 seconds "

– 10 seconds before the start: "Start in 10, 9, 8, 7, 6, 5, 4, 3, 2, 1, Go !“

• The maximum ground speed while crossing the start line is 170km/h.

Scoring

• The IGC file must be handed in by the competitor as soon as practicable, but not later than 30 minutes after landing.

• IGC files must be handled by each pilot in any of the following electronic means:– Highly recommended : by attaching the IGC file(s) in an email sent to

the following address : [email protected]– In a USB memory stick or memory card (SD or Micro-SD format only)– Attention : the organisation won’t download the flight from your

recorders! You have to do it by yourself with your own tools.

Tracking

• Each competitor will get tracking device.

– The use is mandatory.

• Turn on the device 5 minutes before the take off.

– Press to power button for 5 seconds.

– Let the unit in the pocket of the cockpit or if possible on

the canopy.

• Turn off the device after your last landing of the day.

– Press the power button for 10 seconds.

• Please charge the battery of the device every night

– 4 hours needed

Safety

• Safety is paramount.

• Gliding is only a funny game.– You must be able to say « STOP »!

• Low circling and outlanding patterns will be automatically monitored– The organisation will know if you break safety limits

• Do your own flight– Do not follow the mistake of others.– Make your own choices.

• Mid-air collision– Always watch out!– Be a gentleman in the air: no aggressive flying (be careful when

entering/leaving the thermal)– Do note take any risk with the fences, cars and neighbours

around the airfield– Red card if dangerous flying!
