Whythisname?Acentennialreferstoahundredyearsoftime.In1958,Abbotsford’sCentennialParkandCentennialPoolweredevelopedtocelebratetheProvinceofBritishColumbia’s100yearssincejoiningCanadianconfederation(whenBritishColumbiabecameaprovincewithinCanada).Thetwentyfive-metreCentennialPoolwasoneofthreepools(theothertwopoolsincludedajuniorpoolandatoddlers’pool).OnJune2,1958,over5,000peoplegatheredtoseetheparkandpoolopen-whatacrowdedpoolparty!
