5 Campus House Campus House opened in 1931 as one of the five original campus buildings. For many years, it served as the home of the college president. In 2000, the building was renovated as a teaching lab for the Hospitality and Tourism Department and a social club for the Buffalo State community. Ú Head southwest as you walk back to Rockwell Quad, toward Bacon Hall 4 . 4 Bacon Hall Bacon Hall houses the Elementary Education and Reading, Educational Foundations, and Higher Education and Student Affairs Adminstration departments. This building also contains several of the 67 “smart” classrooms located throughout campus, which are equipped with computers to enable professors to use multimedia tools and the Internet to enhance the classroom experience. Ú Continue west between Cleveland Hall 37 and E. H. Butler Library 6 . Turn the corner (right) into the Student Union Quad, another campus quadrangle formed by Cleveland Hall 37 , the Campbell Student Union 8A , Bulger Communication Center 24 , and E. H. Butler Library 6 . Enter E. H. Butler Library 6 on your right. 6 E. H. Butler Library Butler Library has more than 675,000 printed books, access to full-text articles from over 57,000 online and print journals, and nearly 174,000 electronic books. Students can also access microfilm, microfiche, periodicals, and rent electronic items such as projectors or laptop computers here. The library provides more than 200 computers for student use and is home to the Study Quad, a portion of the library that is open to students 24 hours a day. E. H. Butler Library has many special collections including the Curriculum Materials Lab for education students and the Buffalo State archives. Ú Exit the library and cross the Student Union Quad to the Campbell Student Union 8A . 8A Campbell Student Union The Campbell Student Union is the center of life on campus and received extensive updates in 2013. It houses our Barnes & Noble Bookstore, student dining facility, and a 400-seat retail food court. It also contains the student-run radio station, WBNY-FM 91.3; television stations; and the International Student Affairs Office. The fourth floor is home to student organiza- tions on campus; a Game Room is located on the lower level. Ú Exit the Student Union the same way you came in (east side), and walk north toward Bulger Communication Center 24 . 24 Bulger Communication Center This round building contains the larger lecture halls on campus along with smaller classrooms. The basement houses the Instructional Resources Center, which provides multimedia services, electronic learning, and classroom-technology support for the instructional and administrative programs of the college. Ú To the east of Bulger, you will see Caudell Hall 18 . 18 Caudell Hall Caudell Hall contains classrooms and kitchens for students in the dietetics and hospitality administration programs. The Speech-Language Pathology Clinic is also located in this building. Ú Head north, down the steps on the west side of Bulger 24 , toward Upton Hall 7 . 7 Upton Hall Upton Hall houses the fine arts and design departments. Upton Hall has several art studios and two art galleries. Upton Hall also features one of Western New York’s premier performance spaces, Warren Enters Theatre, which is named after the Tony Award–winning Buffalo State emeritus professor who served the college from 1968 to 1992. Ú Moving west from Upton, you will see the Science Building 15 . 19 Moot Hall The Financial Aid, Registrar’s, and Student Accounts offices are upstairs; the Admissions Office is downstairs. Ú Exit Moot Hall and walk northeast to the Donald Savage Theater and Communication Building 3 . 3 Donald Savage Theater and Communication Building This building is home to our media production (broadcasting) program, television and film arts program, and Theater Department. It also contains the Flexible Theatre, classrooms, and broadcasting studios. Ú Walk along the north side of Ketchum Hall 2 . Self-Guided Walking Tour

15 Science BuildingThe Science Building contains the biology, chemistry, forensic chemistry, earth sciences, geology, physics, and science education programs.It also houses the Whitworth Ferguson Planetarium,greenhouses, and multiple laboratories. Thisbuilding is currently undergoing Phase II of a$17.6 million reconstruction project. Phase I wascompleted in 2012 and Phase II is expected tobe complete in 2016.

Ú North of the Science Building are the Towersresidence halls 27 , 29 , 30 , 31 .

27 Tower 129 Tower 230 Tower 331 Tower 4Located to the north of the Science Building, the Towers are suite-style residence halls for sophomores, juniors, and seniors. Each of theTowers will receive updates to its lounge, laun-dry, and individual bedrooms, starting in 2013with Tower 4. Tower 1 features single-roomsuites for students 21 years of age or older.Behind Tower 1, you will see Moore Complex 26 , apartments for upper-division, graduate students, and students with children.

Ú Walk southwest toward the Classroom Building 35 .

35 Classroom BuildingThis building is home to the Anthropology,Criminal Justice, Economics and Finance,Geography and Planning, History and SocialStudies Education, Political Science, Psychology,Social Work, and Sociology departments and several classrooms.

Ú Head northwest to the Sports Arena 39 andHouston Gymnasium 17 .

39 Sports Arena17 Houston GymnasiumThe Sports Complex is home to the NCAADivision III Buffalo State Bengals. SeveralBuffalo State athletic and fitness facilities areundergoing a $28 million renovation. Theseupdates are expected to be complete in 2014 and include contemporary facilities for allBuffalo State athletic and fitness programs.

Throughout construction, Buffalo’s only collegiateice rink and the 3,500-seat Sports Arena areopen. Surrounding athletics facilities includeCoyer Field, Bengal Field, and an outdoor track.

Ú Southwest of the Sports Complex, you will see54 the Student Apartment Complex.

54 Student Apartment ComplexThe newest residential building on campus, theStudent Apartment Complex is home to 500Buffalo State students. Each apartment containsfour single bedrooms, two double bathrooms, a kitchen, and a furnished living room. These apartments also feature Wi-Fi and central air.

8D Perry HallThis residence hall has corridor-style rooms and is home to more than 200 freshmen.

Ú Move south to Chase Hall 8C .

8C Chase HallChase Hall houses the Computer InformationSystems, Creative Studies, and Business depart-ments, as well as University Police, which monitors the 41 blue-light safety phones located throughout the campus.

Ú Northwest of Chase Hall, you will see Weigel Health Center 36 and the newTechnology Building 53 .

36 Weigel Health CenterWeigel Health Center provides health and wellness services for all registered students. It also contains a pharmacy, the CounselingCenter, and a dental clinic.

Ú Head south toward North Wing 14 , Twin Rise 13 , and South Wing 12 .

53 Technology BuildingCompleted in summer 2013, the TechnologyBuilding is the new home to the college’s mechanicalengineering technology, electrical engineeringtechnology, industrial technology, fashion and textile technology, and computer information systems programs. Advanced research spaces andcomputer labs complete this facility.

14 North Wing13 Twin Rise12 South WingThese three buildings, though connected, serve different purposes. North Wing, a suite-style residence hall, houses international and Muriel A.Howard Honors Program residential spaces andlounge. South Wing contains University Collegeand its Academic Advisement Office, the AcademicSkills Center, the Center for China Studies, theDisability Services Office, the EducationalOpportunity Program (EOP), International andExchange Programs, the Undergraduate ResearchOffice, and more. Twin Rise is home toComputing and Technology Services.

Ú Follow the sidewalk eastward to the frontentrance of Porter Hall 11 .

11 Porter HallThis corridor-style residence hall is home to 400freshmen and upperclassmen, and features all-female,co-ed, health and wellness, and quiet floors. It alsocontains the Orientation and Residence Life offices.

Ú Standing in front of Porter Hall, you will see Neumann Hall 10 to the southeast and Bishop Hall 9 to the northeast. These three buildings form Porter Quad.

10 Neumann Hall Neumann Hall is a corridor-style residence hall that houses more than 200 freshmen.

9 Bishop HallBishop Hall houses the Art Education,Communication, Mathematics, Modern andClassical Languages, and Philosophy andHumanities departments.

Ú Continue east to the traffic circle in front ofCleveland Hall 37 .

37 Cleveland HallCleveland Hall contains offices for Alumni Affairs,the Career Development Center, College andCommunity Partnerships, the Graduate School, the Small Business Development Center, and college administration.

Ú On the south side of Cleveland Hall, you will findMoot Hall 19 , the building you started from.
