Semantic Technology Institute (STI) Innsbruck: Introduction

• A leading institute for semantic technologies• Established in Innsbruck, Tyrol, in August 2002, initially as a “Next Web

Generation” research group at the University of Innsbruck

University of Innsbruck is the oldest, and the number 1 ranked university in Austria (according to the Times Higher Education rank, year 2010/11)

• Web: www.sti-innsbruck.at• Currently has ca. 30 staff members• Possesses strong links to local start-ups and SMEs, especially in the

areas of tourism and online marketing • More than 60 completed projects, funded by FP5, FP6, FP7 and

nationally
