Children: Hannah SP’12
FA'71 (student) SP'74 (staff) SP'10 (partial) SP'12 (partial), Global Engagement 2011 and LOTS of
reunion voyages. My daughter, Hannah, sailed in SP'12 and I was lucky enough to sail 3 ports with her.
I have been involved with WCA/SAS/ISE for decades and was even named Alumni of the Year about
20 years ago (at least). I have recruited, held Bon Voyage parties, run the Chapter, folded T-shirts,
schlepped books.... you name it, I did it. I also served as a member of the Board of Trustees from 2007-
20014 and continue to serve on the Investment Committee. I was one of the original Alumni Advisory
Board members along with Loren Crabtree and Milt Waldron back in the 80's.
I am retired from 40 years in Financial Services. I am now a Docent for the Oakland Zoo and also
volunteer for Children's Hospital Oakland.
I was born in St. Louis but raised in Richmond, VA, moving to LA in 1974 and SF in 1979. I attended
Bloomfield College, Bloomfield, NJ and graduated with a BA in English. I have lived in the same house
in Oakland since 1986 where I raised my daughter, Hannah. I spend a LOT of time on my volunteering
which I LOVE and try to get as much traveling done as time (and money) permit. Last year I went to
Poland to visit my Father's hometown, which next to Semester at Sea, might have been the best trip I've
ever taken. I also play piano (when I have time) and love handicrafts such as knitting, crocheting, etc.
Both of my parents are sadly deceased but my Father lived to be almost 99 and I have a 105-yr-old aunt
living and thriving in St. Louis. (I figure I'm good till about 110). I have a brother. My daughter lives in
St. Paul, MN after graduating from U Wisconsin in 2014.
It's always a thrill and an honor to work for and talk about Semester at Sea. I can't think of a better way
to spend my "spare" time and, as they all know at ISE, I would do anything and go anywhere they
needed me.

My son Hayden Ford sailed on the 2012 Spring Voyage. My husband and I went on the Parent Trip to

inspired to get involved. I’ve been a member of the Parents Council ever since.
