The Fall Sports Season has come to an end and the Winter Season has officially begun. The Winter Season of play
consists of Table Tennis and seven of our basketball teams. The Winter Season runs from the end of November to
the middle of March. It would be great to see all TOTEMS fans come out and cheer on your basketball teams!
Our TOTEMS Senior Girls and Boys Volleyball teams provided an amazing end to the Fall season, both qualifying for
the 2016 BC Provincial Championships. The Senior Girls had a great run in the Provincials finishing 4th in the BC.
Congratulations to Jordan Aisenstat for receiving a tournament all-star. The Senior Boys completed a major accom-

both Senior Girls and Boys were celebrated on their accomplishments. TOTEMS fans had an opportunity to watch
the 5th set, where the boys pulled out a come from behind victory winning 16-14. Well done Senior Girls and Boys,

Other highlights were watching all the basketball
teams come in to a light show, loud pump up
music, and an excited crowd. All will remember
Evan Ellison and Dan Bamgbade’s basketball
dance off in the center circle and some remarka-
ble dunks from a few of the Senior boys basket-
ball players. To conclude the PEP Rally, Nathan
Clarke showed us that “nothing can stop up us
we are going up”! He got well above the rim to
end the show. You can see his video on the
homepage of the Athletics Website. A special
thanks to the PE Leadership students for work-
ing hard in their responsibilities and all teachers
and students that came down to pack the gym!
This months (December) athlete is Michael Dowhaniuk. Michael was a key player for the
Senior Boys Volleyball team this season. He helped to lead the team to a first place finish in not only
the Fraser Valleys, but also Provincials. As a result of his exceptional performance, he was named MVP
at both tournaments. He has shown excellent character, sportsmanship and leadership skills. His pas-
sion for volleyball is contagious and inspires his teammates to also get excited about the sport. We
look forward to watching him play in club and next year for the Totems. Way to lead the troops in
bringing home the 2016-17 BC Provincial Banner! Great job Michael!
To commence the 2016-17 Winter Sports Season, the Athletics program and PE leadership class put on a fun and
exciting PEP Rally. Highlights were watching all the players from each team come out with a warm welcome from
their fellow student body. Table tennis was remembered by their impressive abilities at last year’s Winter PEP Ral-
ly. They kept to their high standards and did not disappoint, putting on a thriller of a Table Tennis demonstration.
The Basketball Program is comprised of three girls basketball teams consisting of Grade 8, Junior, and Senior
teams. The boys program consists of Grade 8, 9, Junior and Senior teams. The Athletic Department is also very
excited to announce that both the Senior and Junior Boys teams have started the preseason with a top 10 ranking
in the Province. They both look to maintain their high ranking as they pursue a provincial championship.
