The Rhode Island Chapter of the IAAI presents:
Practical Aspects of Fire Investigation
This 34-hour hands-on tested course is designed to expand the fire investigators practical knowledge of processing the fire
scene from inception to prosecution. The student and his/her team will investigate a fire
scene and prepare a comprehensive report with supporting scene documentation that will withstand courtroom scrutiny. Practical and classroom topics will be taught to reflect the 16 JPR’s of NFPA 1033 and in accordance to the Guide For Fire & Explosion Investigation (NFPA 921). Additional classroom topics of concentration will include: Photography, Electrical Failure Analysis, Plotting Calcination using Excel spreadsheets, Flame Vector Analysis and Origin Matrix.

Sr. Fire Investigator, Quest Fire Analysis, Beorne, TX Mr. Sing holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Fire Arson & Explosion Investigation, with a minor in Fire & Safety Engineering Technology through Eastern Kentucky University and a Bachelor of Science degree in Criminal Justice through Sam Houston State University. Mr. Sing will be presenting a hands-on module on calcination plotting and vector analysis where students will conduct a calcination analysis in a burn cell and plot and interpret the results using Excel spreadsheets.
