CP violation measurements with triple product asymmetries Abstract:

The study of the asymmetry between particle and antiparticle decays, also known as CP violation, has led to discoveries that laid the foundations of the Standard Model theory. CP violation is commonly measured through the asymmetry of the yields of particle and antiparticle decays, which is affected by potentially

large systematic uncertainties introduced by the charged-particle reconstruction asymmetry of the detector. I will show that triple product asymmetries have comparable sensitivity without being affected by the

aforementioned uncertainties. This feature makes these observables particularly suited for measurements on large data samples aiming at sensitivities smaller than 0.1%.

I will present some experimental examples, such as the recent measurement of matter-antimatter differences in beauty baryon decays and searches for CP violation in charm meson decays at LHCb.

Finally, I will provide an outlook of future improvements, including the extension of this approach to CP violation studies in the Higgs sector.

Il seminario è rivolto a tutti i docenti, dottorandi e studenti del corso di laurea magistrale interessati
