Semuc Champey is a natural monument in the department of Alta Verapaz, Guatemala, near the Q'eqchi' Maya town ofLanquín.

It consists of a natural 300 m limestone bridge, under which passes the Cahabón River. Atop the bridge is a series of stepped, turquoise pools, a popular swimming attraction. Although it can be difficult to get to, Semuc is becoming more and more popular with travelers. We had been told

that only cars wheel drive could get to Semuc, but the mitsubishi lancer in we went, endured perfectly, and is actually getting there will go a dirt road about 1 hour, well, maybe the first time you feel very long way since these times makes you shorter route. Only see curves and more curves, and you seem to be an unknown world you're going. Spectacular natural place, still well preserved. Worth the long haul. The last stretch is unpaved and is in poor condition. Recommend going in four wheel drive, although I have seen several easy entry carts. Bring enough water. I recommend that you go up to the lookout you see an amazing view of the pools. Houses - Regions: ,Alta Verapaz ,Baja Verapaz ,Chimaltenango ,Chiquimula ,the

And the strong river channel reaches deep into the rock and left on the surface a series of pools of calm water. It is an amazing place, the season in which he visited this place with my friends Hector and Alex was at Easter. We were looking for a remote, interesting and a cool climate. To get to Semuc Champey, must travel in our case we

Semuc Champey, TURQUOISE WATERS, waterfalls and caves, a paradise to discover, declared Natural Monument in 2005 by Legislative Decree 25-2005. This paradise is located in Alta Verapaz Coban, very close geographically to Lanquín Caves National Park. Semuc Champey is part of the Guatemalan System of Protected Areas SIGAP and is an important tourist destination in Guatemala provides sites worldwide. Due to the subtropical forest around the place, it has a huge ecological

wealth, birds, mammals, reptiles, amphibians and fish in addition to a variety of different species of trees. It has a gazebo over 50 mts. To observe the height of 350 m along the natural pools that form the natural complex falls up to 40 feet high and all ponds fed by streams of place. This fabulous site maintains a growing number of both domestic and foreign visitors who enjoy nature tourism and adventure. Semuc Champey is a spring that fell on the roof of a cave that is formed during the passing of the years, many people confuse the flow of the Rio Cahabón to explain cueva.Les ceiling is a bit like this: The Rio Cahabón is one of the largest rivers in the area of Alta Verapaz, arriving at a place called "the Sump" the river disappears, this is immersed in a cave that has a length of 300 meters approximately, then the river reappears in the other end of the cave. About this cave is where the pools of Semuc Champey form (this is the reason for the name), a natural beauty with crystal clear turquoise waters, which are fed by springs that flow down from the mountains of almost 500 meters. It is emphasized that the place called the Sink, is a highly dangerous place, if you fall into the river, it can drag you. To prevent accidents, park managers have a string of caution and rangers will not let you get close, we invite you to obey park rules that find your entrance ticket.

This place is perfect to visit!!!
