Day #1 Highlights

• Check-in at Miyagi Guesthouse, a popular hostel • Spend time in the beautiful city shops & parks• Visit the devastation by the seaside • Try gyutan (beef tongue) – a custom in Sendai! • Sendai Shi Center can help plan volunteer projects• Meditation ritual at the famous Rinno-ji Temple

Day #2 Highlights• Volunteer to build homes lost

in the tsunami with the Japan Home Rebuild Project team!

• See the beautiful architecture of Sendai Mediatheque

• Eat dinner at Ichimuan, a popular Japanese restaurant

• Get a relaxing Thai massage

• Visit Ernie’s Bar to listen to some live music with a beer

Day #3 Highlights• Help feed, walk and rescue birds, dogs and cats with the Animal

Refuge Kansai – a volunteer association

• Try Japanese-Italian food for lunch and a famous oyster bar, Kaki Toku, for dinner

• Have a once in a lifetime experience at Sakunami Hot Springs

• Watch the fireworks celebrating the beginning of Sendai’s annual Tanabata Festival!

Day #4 Highlights• Play games with the children

of an orphanage by volunteering with SmileKidsJapan

• Head to the Asaichi Morning Market to buy some gifts

• Attend the Tanabata Festival and help with the clean-up

• Shaft – one of the top night clubs in downtown Sendai – is great for American visitors

Day #5 Highlights

• Bus to Matsushima, a beautiful nearby seaside city • Take a pleasure cruise to see Matsushima’s natural wonders!• Get close to tsunami victims through volunteer efforts • Help build, sort and talk to the city’s victims• Otkamori presents a fantastic view of Matsushima Bay • Try a well-known vegetarian restaurant

Day #6 Highlights

• Visit the popular AER Building in downtown Sendai • Clean some of seaside Sendai’s damaged flats • Marvel at Kotodai Park’s cherry blossoms • Give the community a great neighborhood game of soccer • One last Japanese meal at Oden Sankichi • Have a safe flight home!
