    God is moving today in

    remarkable ways. The church

in China has grown to one

    hundred times its size sixty

    years ago. Many nonChris

tians in the Middle East are

    seeing dreams o Jesus and

    responding to the gospel.

What is more, ministries areincreasingly working together

    to ulll the Great Commission.

    We know that pleases God.

    Trusting God to reach and

    raise up indigenous leaders is

    crucial or the churches and

    mission organizations engaging

    in the redemptive work o

    Christ globally. Whether the

    ocus is planting churches,

    digging clean water wells, or

    conronting human tracking,

    leaders are required or these

    eorts to be sustainable. We

    believe many o these uture

leaders are on the universitycampuses o the world.

    God has given us strategies,

    training and materials to win,

    build and send university

    students. We have ministries in

    almost ,000 student popula

    tion centers in dierent

    countries. But still there are

    many uture leaders who have

    never heard a clear, relevant

JOSHIt was amazing to see the hunger o Ivorian

Christians studying the Bible with us. We

would sit sometimes or several hours ollowing

and training believers to be active and bold in their aith.

rough these times o discipleship training, I learned a lot

d am excited to go back to school this all and apply what

arned about teaching scripture. I was also able to become

re grounded apologetically when talking to Muslims. Theyed tough questions and at times I was unprepared to answer

h deep questions: however, I was able to soak up and learn

m other believers around me and through Gods word.

    h, Cote dIvoire Summer Project

ECKYile I initially went into the project ocused on playing

h Arican babies and just loving on them, God really

nistered to me through campus outreach. He completely

nged my perspective about evangelism and gave me a new

se o urgency or His message. What God really taught

ough campus ministry was how vital it is to depend on the

powerment o His Spirit, daily. I couldnt have gone out

d shared the gospel without being lled with the spirit.

excited to bring this mindset back to school and seed touch broken lives.

    cky, Botswana Summer Project

    STAGE ONE:SUMMER PROJECT

    In one to eight weeks,

    visiting teams o Christian

    students are able to create

    relationships, share the gospel,

    and disciple young believers on

    international campuses where

    the gospel has never traveled.

They leave behind the seed o

    what will become a growing

    ministry on that campus.

    STAGE TWO:STINT

    How does this planted

    mustard seed become a

    growing movement? Short

    term International (STINT)

    missionaries were sent to

    invest one or two years

    cultivating what was sown over

    the summer. They also provide

    leadership, teaching, and

    urther evangelism so that by

the time they leave, a healthy

    maturing ministry is in place.

    STAGE THREE:INTERNATIONALCAMPUS STAFF

    Like the ministries planted

    by the apostle Paul, these

    movements oten lack

    maturity o years, needleadership continuity,

    and require someone to

    make gospel inroads on

    campuses elsewhere. Filling

    this Timothy role are

    missionaries who will dig in

and invest three to ve years,

    or longer, in the culture.

    STAGE FOUR:NATIONAL LEADERSHIP

In this stage o ministry, the

leadership on the campusand in the country is properly

    passed on to nationals; to

    those believers now mature

enough to lead the ministry intheir own country.

    STAGE FIVE:PARTNERING NAT

    At this stage two ve

    things happen. First

    nation becomes a p

    in missions, sending

    own students to mi

    other nations. Conc

    U.S. students are no

    partner with new ca

    other countries.

    plant and grow movements

t bring the reality o Jesus

    every student and every

    ulty member will require

    adical level o cooperation

    hin the movement o

mpus Crusade or Christ, well as the greater body o

rist. As leaders in the United

    tes Campus Ministry, we

    rk in overlapping spheres o

    ponsibility, infuence, and

    pe, but with a common

    and mission. All o this

    essitates having agreed

    on principles or working

    ether and partnering. These

    nciples are presented in

er to lay a oundation. Our

pe is that we will be able to

d on them and capture this

    ment in history when God

given us so much, and yet,

re are so many who remain

    ouched and unreached.

    RELATIONSHIPS FIRST

    The bedrock to eective

    partnering is trusting

    relationships built between

    leaders over time. Trust

    grows and understanding

increases as relationships arebuilt. This will take time and

    money, but an investment

    made in relationship builds the

    oundation o trust necessary

    to weather the storms o

    problems and conusion

when they come. The ease or

    inability to address partnership

problems is directly relatedto the quality o relationships

    between leaders. Mistakes

    will be made and problems

    will come up, but always

    there must be a commitment

    to ull disclosure, not silent

    toleration. Relationship

    First means building trust,

    communicating ully, and

    honoring one another at all

    times, privately and in public.

    PARTNERING AS PEERS

    Every leader comes to the

table as a peer and as an adult,

    not oneup, or onedown. We

all view one another both in

    need and with something to

oer. It is not healthy to onlysend or only receive. Learning

    to humbly receive and

    generously give is or growth

    and maturity or each person

    and each ministry. Every plan

    should include ways in which

    partners both give and receive

    in the mission.

SHARED RESPONSIBILITYNo single entity has all the

    necessary resources, but when

    we work together we can

    help ulll our global mission.

    Shared responsibility opens

    access or collaboration in

    leadership expertise and

    knowledge, and allows us

    to learn o opportunities to

    contribute that go beyond just

people and money. There is an

    open handed spirit that says

    to other leaders, We need

you, we cant do this alone, and

dont want to do this alone.

    We arm a commitment to

    strong mutual, urgent, and

    specic goals and partners

    should strive to that end.

MUTUAL STEWARDSHIPWe share stewardship or the

    students and aculty o the

world. We are not the solestewards. Partnership means

    moving rom:

    Sole stewards to mutual

    or shared stewardship

    Personal responsibility

    to shared responsibility

    Autonomous working

    to collaborative working

    Isolated to connected

    Mine to ours

    Single to multiple

    Independent to partnered

    Insulated to communal

VALUE CONTEXTUALINSIGHTSThe strength o a global

    organization grows in its

    ability to regularly bring

    together contextual insights,

    organizational expertise,

    skillsets, etc. This promotes

a great exchange o ideas and

    best practices, allowing us

to truly be a ministry always

    learning better ways to reach

    the lost and build multiplying

    disciples. This ripple eect

    will be increasing the campus

    ministry global eectiveness

    because o regularly

    embracing/implementing

    contextual insights. We

    approach partnering as

    humble learners.

    ONE VOICE-ONE PLAN

    There will be conusion unless

    there is a rm commitment

by the partnering leaders tospeak with a united voice.

    Without this, rustration

will result or the teams and

trust will erode betweenleaders. Building bridges

    o understanding between

    potential partnering leaders is

    an essential responsibility and

    skill or the ministry leadership.

    I understanding is built

    between leaders, th

    In recent years, our com

    mitment to the global

    ulllment o the Great

    Commission has led us to

    an accelerated blending o

    the compassionate words

and works o the gospel oJesus Christ. Fol

lowing the Asian tsunami in 200, Cru Global

Missions sent 200 students to team up with

200 Thai Cru students to work alongside

Thai villagers rebuilding their homes. AterKatrina devastated the Gul Coast in 200,

we mobilized thousands o students to help

clean up and gut homes. In the atermath o

the Haiti earthquake, Cru teams have been

mobilized to provide relie and expand ongoing development work on the outskirts o

    PortauPrince.

    can truly help advance Christs

    redemptive kingdom in these

needy parts o our world. That

    is why were committed to

    blending gospel proclamation

    to university students with

    social justice eorts.

    We believe that the Scriptures

teach us to proclaim the great

    ness o God, the excellencies

    o His character, His saving

power or all peoples, and to

care or the widow, orphan, reugee, and poor. Can we join

    hands in partnership or the

sake o lost students and or

    those most vulnerable on

    our planet?

    Currently, Cru Global Mis

    sions teams are connecting

    campus ministry eorts with

work in the slums o Rio de

    Janeiro, anti childtracking

    in the Dominican Republic,

    community development work

    in Haiti, HIV/AIDs homes in

    South Arica, medical clinics in

    Ghana, treeplanting projects

    in Ethiopia, and orphan care

    in 200 locations around the

world. In the U.S., Cru studentspartner with local churches to

serve the poor in our own cit

ies. But as important as all o

    these humanitarian eorts are,

    most leaders involved in global

    missions agree that a critical

need is or God to raise up

    indigenous leaders gripped

It is the privilege o all who are bor n again o the Spirit to be

The Holy Spirit has come into the world to reveal and gloriy

Jesus Christ is the Head o the Church, His Body, which iscomposed o all men, living and dead, who have been joined to

At physical death the believer enters immediately into eternal,

At physical death the unbeliever enters immediately into

The ulllment o that Great Commission requires that all worldlyand personal ambitions be subordinated to a total commitment

to Him who loved us and gave Himsel or us.

    STATEMENT OF FAITH

We stand at a unique time in history. The kingdom ois advancing at an unprecedented speed and is reach

into some o the most dicult regions o the world.

Most experts on missions agree that the ulllment o

Great Commission is within reach in our generation. A

while individual churches and mission organizations a

accomplishing incredible things it seems that nishi

task will require a collaborative eort involving the en

body o Christ. This small booklet is our way o exten

hand with an invitation to partnership.

While the ocus o this booklet has been domestic an

missions, the possibilities or partnership are enormo

They include reaching and mobilizing high school stu

business men and women, and university aculty as

strategies that can target urban centers, ethnic group

    church planting.

So where do we go rom here? Let me suggest that w

commit to just two things: First, to genuinely seek to

ully understand the mission, vision, expertise, and re

that each o us bring to the table. And then, to pray. T

that God would show us the ways in which He would

us work together with a willingness to respond as He
