members of the organizing team would be extremely pleased to have you here. This time around we aspire to

reach new heights and set up some outstanding standards that would indeed be a unique experience for you.

GIKI is one of the most prestigious engineering institutes of Pakistan. Apart from its exceptional academic program, the institute is also renowned for its versatile and vivacious extramural events. The scenic location of the campus

only adds to the exclusivity of such events.

It will be a three day event that includes Robomania and competitions catering to many roots of ELECTONICS,

ELECTRICAL Engineering/ sciences. The event includes competitions for Robot Line tracking, Robo-wars,

Symposium, Micro-controller interfacing, Antenna design, Robo soccer league, Survival of the brainiac and etc.

This year IEEE-GIKI has introduced three new modules, Robo soccer, Robo wars, and Race to innovation. A number

of amusement too included, a musical concert, a mime’s night and an e-night. The last date for submission of

entries is 31-January 2012.

IEEE-GIKI Chapter has been instrumental in bringing together the highly intellectual minds from all over the

country and providing them with an opportunity to exhibit their engineering talents in a national arena. Members

of IEEE and professors from our university and external are invited to judge the work of participating students,

They too have been appreciative of our efforts in promoting the scope of Electrical and Electronic engineering at a

national level. We would also like to inform you that for your comfort, we will be providing transport to and from

 GISMO TECH:

All semester projects and final year projects for IEEE related subjects are allowed (you

can consult www.ieee.org for finding subjects).

A project that doesn’t involve IEEE related subjects is not allowed to participate.

Maximum three persons per team are allowed.

Projects will be judged on basis of simplicity, accuracy and implementation.

A poster, showing details of project is recommended.

Each group will be given a project exhibition board to exhibit their project.

 Race to innovation:

There will be two rounds in this module. In the first or the screening round, each

team will be given schematics of a number of electronic circuits. The team will be

asked to answer the questions given against each circuit. The questions will be

like what would be the output of circuit, name of circuit, brief description about

its working etc.Circuits could be analog or digital or mixed. This part will be done

on paper.

The number of allowed participants per team would 2-3.

In the second round, the teams will be provided with some electronic/electrical

gear and also with a problem. The teams would be asked to solve the problem by

designing some electronic circuit using the given resources within a certain

amount of time.

 Research Symposium:

Research and development is a dire need of our country. Organizers of IEEE  – GIKI National

Electronics Olympiad felt the need to ignite the idea and fire the flame of research among fresh

engineers of the country. The symposium shall consist of two modules:

Once upon a time in engineering.

  Explore a vision.

Once upon a time in Engineering:-

In this module, senior faculty members of The Faculty of Electronic Engineering of GIKI

will explain history of engineering and the development that has occurred in

technology. No charges are for attending this module.

  Explore a vision:-

The Explore‐a‐vision is a speak‐out cum presentation session where different participating

teams will come up and present a viable solution to a problem that we present to them. The

explore‐a‐vision is a pure test of intuition, interactivity and innovation. The participating teams

would be required to display their understanding of the problem and clearly and explicitly

present their solution. This year’s topics are given below:

  Portable Energy Generation Solutions.

  Biomedical Signal & Image Processing.

  Industrial Automation.

Maximum 3 persons per team allowed.

  MIC(micro-controller interfacing competition) ‘GEEK FREAK’

  Mide/keil software for burning

  Time=6hrs

Maximum 2 persons in a team

Its open, can get data from anywhere (internet, books, journals etc.)

Team must know hardware interfacing i.e. LCD, external memory, motors etc.

interfacing  AT89sXX micro controller will be provided

Kindly bring you own Flash memory

  SIMULATION LAB VIEW:

Students are required to perform certain mathematics and logic based tasks on the

LabView software. There will be 3 Questions from the specified fields and participants

will be given one at a time. The tasks will be marked on the basis of time and final

output of the simulation.

Maximum 4 persons in a team.

There will be one starting point and two ending points of the maze as shown in the

figure. One robot at a time will enter the maze and it has to take any desired path to go

to any of the two end points. Both the end points have the same status and a robot can

choose any one of them by following any path. The total time taken by the robot to

solve the puzzle (from starting to one end point) will be recorded and the next teams

are asked to run their robot. The team completing the task in the minimum time will be

awarded as the winner. If no one completes the task, the judges will be deciding the

winner on the basis of design and performance.

The robots must be completely autonomous and must fit in a cube of 25*25*25cm and

the teams with bigger sizes will be disqualified. The height of the walls of maze is 15cm

and the path width will be 30cm everywhere.

Robots that can damage the track in any sense will be disqualified. There is no limit on

the voltage of batteries but the power source must be attached to the robot and the

operator can not touch the robot once it has been started. Only dry batteries can be

used. Two retries are allowed but the time will keep on ticking and the robot will have

to start from the beginning again.

Maximum 4 persons in a team.

This is a knock out competition of a parallel robots race in which two robots will

compete against each other. That will be a “WHITE LINE ON BLUE BACKGROUND” andthe line will be 3cm wide. Two robots will start off at the same time on the track and the

one reaching the finish line will be the winner. The dimensions of the track are shown in

figure. The robot must fix in a box of 25*25*25cm and the bigger robots will be

disqualified.

The robot must have to follow the check points (1,2,3,4, 5,6,finish for team “Red” and

1’,2’,3’,4’,5’,6’,finish for team “Green”) in the right sequence. Omitting any of the one

check points will lead to a deduction of 25% points and omitting two will lead to

deduction of 50%, three to 75% and four to disqualification. One can retry as many

times one wants but the second team will continue completing the track while the team

getting a retry will start from the nearest check point it completed. Each retry will lead

to deduction of 10 points. Each The team with most score in the shortest time will go to

next round.

The robots must be completely autonomous and must fit in a cube of 25*25*25cm and

the teams with bigger sizes will be disqualified.

Robots that can damage the track in any sense will be disqualified. There is no limit on

the voltage of batteries but the power source must be attached to the robot and the

operator can not touch the robot once it has been started. Only dry batteries can be

used.

In the first round, the teams will be shortlisted on the basis of their individual track

completion time and from the next round, knock out competitions start.
